HOLIDAY TREE RECYCLING DAY

Thinking of getting a live tree this holiday season? Wondering what to do with it once the festivities are over? We would love to take it off your hands! Come by the Westermeier Commons parking lot to drop off your decoration-free holiday tree and enjoy a warming beverage on us. Your tree will be recycled into mulch and put to good use here in the community. This sustainability event is good for you and good for the planet! volunteering EARTH HOUR—VIRTUAL

Started by WWF as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now one of the world’s largest grassroots movements for the environment. Held every year on the last Saturday of March, Earth Hour engages millions of people in more than 180 countries and territories, switching off their lights to show support for our planet. Join CCPR in this movement by turning your lights off for an hour on March 26. Send a picture of your lights-free hour to volunteer@carmelclayparks.com to receive a goodie bag of sustainable items! The Vernal Equinox is the astrological event of the sun crossing the equator and moving northward. It marks the first official day of spring. What better way to celebrate than caring for nature?! In this event, we will combine invasive species removal with a “take-home” planting. Partner with us as we remove several types of invasive plants from Central Park and receive a native seed packet to take home and plant on your property as a thank you! FREE NATIVE TREE SAPLING Make a difference in your backyard! In April, we are celebrating Invasive Species awareness. If you remove invasive species on your property, you will be reimbursed with a native tree to plant in its place. Native plants provide food and habitat to wildlife and they help clean our air and water. Take a photo of the invasive(s) you have removed and submit your work to volunteer@carmelclayparks.com for your opportunity to come pick up a free native tree(s) on us. Tree Saplings will be available for pick up on April 11 through the end of the month. We thank you for doing your part to improve the ecosystem by removing invasive species and providing native habitat.
