Located in Lower Richland County, Congaree National Park was authorized by Congress in 1976 to preserve the largest intact tract of oldgrowth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southestern United States. Hanging baskets of draping flowering plants and ferns from the pergola will create lightly dappled shade, and planting climbing vines like rubens or glasnevin to grow up the pergola posts will augment shade and provide an impressive floral display. Or installing a retractable awning allows stargazing at night from your patio, and ample shade during the day.
