However, living in Ted’s professional shadow, Sylvia can all but eke out her own writing career. She also begins to suspect him of chronic infidelity. Through her pain and anger, Sylvia gains minor success as a writer but their destructive relationship begins take its toll on them both.

The Grand Victorian Ballroom Licensed for civil ceremonies If you want an impressive setting for your event with great service at the right price, look no further than the Ballroom. Accessed through the grand front entrance and up the sweeping staircase, or via the lift, this versatile space can be set up to suit your individual needs. The Ballroom can hold up to 200 people for a party and 120 seated at tables and has a small stage (optional), sprung dance floor, licensed bar and sound and lighting equipment. Use of The Guildhall’s pretty courtyard garden is included in our great value wedding package. Located at the rear of the Guildhall and the neighbouring Museum, it’s the perfect place for you and your guests to relax outside and take photos. Enclosed on all sides, this area is both pretty and private with ample seating and tables.
The Theatre The Guildhall Theatre can seat up to 210 people and hosts performances, workshop, lectures and seminars throughout the year. The theatre is equipped with professional quality sound and lighting systems, an excellent upright piano, cinema screen and two fully fitted dressing rooms with adjoining showers and toilets.
The theatre also has an induction loop and assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building.

The Newton Room is situated on the ground floor and can be used for small performances, parties, lectures, sales and meetings and is also licensed for civil ceremonies, seating up to 50 people. Studio 4, situated on the second floor with lift access, can comfortably seat up to 25 people for meetings and lectures.
