D2E youth Theatre Summer Term After the hugely successful Prologue Film Project and production of West Side Story in the spring, this summer D2E are devising three mini-plays to be performed outdoors as part of The Gravity Fields Festival in September 2012 – a fabulous arts and science festival focusing on Isaac Newton. In addition, the Gravity Fields project team are providing artists to work with D2E during the summer holidays to produce a piece of theatrical artwork with which the group will join the festival’s processional finale through the town centre.

D2E Festival Project ‘Isaac – Boy Genuis’ A hated stepfather, a mother he couldn’t forgive, a school that didn’t understand him and the chemist’s daughter who saved him... This is your chance to tell the story of the real Isaac Newton from abandoned child and troubled teenager to university student with the world at his feet. Gravity Fields Festival 21 -28 September With a focus upon Grantham’s son Sir Isaac Newton and his laws of motion this will a fabulous arts and science festival for Grantham! Gravity Fields will be held throughout the town during a week in September with participating venues including the Guildhall Arts Centre, Belton House, Woolsthorpe Manor and Harlaxton Manor. At the Guildhall we understand that organising events can be stressful which is why our front of house team make every effort to ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible from arranging your room to supplying technical support.

All public areas inside The Guildhall are accessible to wheelchair users with a lift to the first and second floors. There are disabled toilet facilities on the ground floor and an induction loop in the auditorium. Anyone requiring assistance should inform the venue prior to visiting and we will be more than happy to help.

A variety of buffet lunches, including sparkling wine and canapés for weddings, are available from the Guildhall’s in-house coffee shop and bar from just £3.00 a head, made on site from locally sourced produce including home-made cakes and Rainforest Alliance coffees. If you’d like to bring in certified cater for your event, we also have a function kitchen and a range of support equipment for hire.

The Newton Room & Studio 4 These rooms can accommodate smaller functions and meetings. The Newton Room is situated on the ground floor and can be used for small performances, parties, lectures, sales and meetings and is also licensed for civil ceremonies, seating up to 50 people. Studio 4, situated on the second floor with lift access, can comfortably seat up to 25 people for meetings and lectures.

The Theatre The Guildhall Theatre can seat up to 210 people and hosts performances, workshop, lectures and seminars throughout the year. The theatre is equipped with professional quality sound and lighting systems, an excellent upright piano, cinema screen and two fully fitted dressing rooms with adjoining showers and toilets. The theatre also has an induction loop and assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building.

If you want an impressive setting for your event with great service at the right price, look no further than the Ballroom. Accessed through the grand front entrance and up the sweeping staircase, or via the lift, this versatile space can be set up to suit your individual needs. The Ballroom can hold up to 200 people for a party and 120 seated at tables and has a small stage (optional), sprung dance floor, licensed bar and sound and lighting equipment. Adjacent is the function kitchen which can be hired for use by certified caters.
