t's May: Spring is giving us its wonderful colour palette although many of us are already in the full Summer spirit! So, comparing ourselves with the Pantone Color Institute, we offer you a range of floral colours with some bold accents that (like all the Design Trends proposed by us in previous editions) bring us lightness and trust, both within our minds and in our homes, in order to better live these periods of uncertainty. Following the necessity of the "normality" of all of us, we have formed a guide of the Best places where to eat & drink around the world. This time we didn't apply a specific criterion for choicing them - we just acted instinctively thinking of you, Readers! There are those who want to join friends for an aperitif in a swanky bar, there are those who prefer to have a family lunch, there are those who want to taste only a glass of wine, or there are those who want to enjoy delicious pastries early in the morning! Here, we have found places suitable for all tastes! Next, you find Interior Design projects from hospitality to residential. Particular attention lingers at the first W Hotel in Osaka where careful architecture and a mix of bright colors run through the entire hotel. More than staying in a hotel, it feels like going on a journey of wonder! Also of great interest is the double house projected by Raz Melamed in Israel which combines two different houses, and it seems that there is only one. Hope that the pages of this issue bring you optimism and are the source of inspiration for your new projects! Enjoy the reading,

Linked to tradition VittEr Design® by Filippi presents the Tomè collection of architectural tables, designed by the architects Basaglia + Rota Nodari. Symbol of an innovative design linked to tradition, the project is inspired by the Rotonda di San Tomè, the wellknown Romanesque monument in the province of Bergamo, a few kilometers from the company headquarters. A link with the territory and, more generally, with the Made in Italy value which VittEr Design® is committed to enhance. The Tomè tables therefore interpret the ancient Romanesque architecture combined with the unconventional spirit of the company, giving life to a refined game of balance and volumes. www.vitterdesign.com

Café di Dolce
BY SANAYI313 ARCHITECTS
Café di Dolce is a contemporary patisserie in the waterfront district of Kuruçeşme of which the interior is an impressive, theatrical space inspired by grand Parisian cafes, featuring black and white marble flooring and a mixture of custom-made furniture in rich fabrics and textures. The statement flower installation by Turkish glass artist Nahide Büyükkaymakci, is a reference to Café Di Dolce’s famous floral cakes and includes over two thousand peonies carved out of plexiglass, suspended from the glass dome. Bespoke velvet upholstered banquettes, terrazzo table-tops and bronze detailing create the sense of having tea in the lobby of a grand hotel in Paris, whilst the self-playing Disklavier piano in the corner of the cafe plays jazz, for some added theatrical ambience. Address: Pınar, Pınar Mahallesi, Katar Caddesi, İstinye Park AVM No:11, 34345 - Sarıyer/İstanbul, Turkey
BY H2R DESIGN
Chunk Social
For the design of the interiors, H2R Design focused on preserving the identity of Chunk but to also uplift the personality with a design that was more in-tune with the concept. With the inspiration to keep it raw, transparent and honest, a minimal interior design was developed keeping the space clean, fresh and neutral. This allowed contrasts to be revealed against the canvas and to let the menu do the talking. The colour palette of this project can be defined as refreshing and neutral with concrete, stainless steels and black metal as the predominant chromaticity across the locations. BY OEO STUDIO
This two Michelin Starred restaurant shows up with the tactile materials, warm colours, art and a selection of furniture carefully recomposed to create just the right feeling. Drawing on inspiration from the natural landscape of Denmark, OEO Studio worked on an expressive paint colour palette developed in collaboration with Italian brand, Mutina and the restaurant design features rich and earthy tones in matt finishes from deep burnt red and clay tones to dense black hues. The lighting is a mix of mood and technical lighting, from Catellani & Smith, Frama, Astep, Flos and Danish lighting brand Anour, which blends perfectly to support the dining experience from start to finish. Finally, striking and colourful artworks by Teheranborn, Copenhagen-based artist Farshad Farzankia feature throughout the restaurant. Address: Wildersgade 10B, 1408 - Copenhagen, Denmark
Black Drop
BY ARK4LAB OF ARCHITECTURE
Black drop is a coffee shop where coffee is treated more like an experience, an urban act. A stand built of mosaic becomes an interactive space for informing and exchanging views on the art of coffee. Materials such as copper, terrazzo, exposed concrete, old wood surfaces, rusted walls gives you the sense that you are a part of a laboratory where you can act and react. Black drop is a place where post industrial contemporary urban aesthetics meet the 'obsession' of coffee lovers in a way that coffee experience becomes a social act. Address: Kassandrou 1, 654 03 - Kavala, Greece
Bull Butcher and Wine BY YUDIN DESIGN
Concept of this meat restaurant, starting from name and logo, together with the interior and furniture items have been realized by YUDIN Design. All colors and materials used speak about the interior conception: a bright red and burned brown, skin, suede, wood and glass that remind the butcher workplace. Piselli SUD BY CARBONDALE
Nestled within the vegetal oasis and encompassed in sunlight the unique design for Piselli, conceived as a “Restaurant in the Garden”. To enhance the outdoor atmosphere further a green ring of foliage that embraces the entire space, covered dining terrace extends out into the garden and a discrete garden path leads guests to an exclusive entry. The large wood surfaces establish the warm, rich interior ambiance while the dramatic highly reflective ceiling beautifully reflects the adjacent vegetation and flowers adding to the illusive and ephemeral enchantment. To create intimate and cozy dining areas CARBONDALE has divided the spacious restaurant volume into different seating areas including the lounge, the bar, the dining room, the intimate booths each providing different dining experiences. Address: 2232 Ave Brigadeiro Faria Lima, Jardim Paulistano - Sao Paulo, Brazil
Located in the heart of Colonia Roma Norte, the restaurant is immersed in one of the most popular neighborhoods in Mexico City. The main dining hall was designed in a dynamic setup in order to accommodate 35 people. This compact space holds a minimum of constructive elements and lighting details. Here, the main character is the natural light from the high dome which is covered with the foliage of the trees outside. The result is a glass ceiling draped in fallen leaves. The constructive materials selection for the entire project such as terrazzo, and precasted concrete, and wood for the architectural elements and furniture, where selected from a close conceptual process undertaken with the chefs and their ideas on the food and ambiance they looked for in their design. The aim was to create a single harmonic pallet of materials and colors that would bring each space an atmosphere of its own and would give a unique character to the restaurant while limiting the use of decorative pieces. Address: Colima 150, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 – Mexico City, Mexico
Meland Club Shenzhen BY X + LIVING
With the autumn theme, the restaurant included within the Shenzhen Meland Club creates a friendly and warm atmosphere. The stitching of seemingly irregular geometry and the accumulation of bright colors are not disordered and chaotic, on the contrary, it’s a harmonious relationship between internal elements and the overall theme after careful planning. And every detail has practical functional significance. Address: Shenzhen Uniwalk Shopping Mall – Shenzhen, China 42 | G&G _ Magazine
Gemini Roastery
BY YOD GROUP
The interior, décor details and menu are tied around the coffee theme. The cafe space is decorated in the typical style of American cafe: graphite-pastel colors, laconic handmade furniture, decoration of natural materials - wood, concrete, metal, leather. The centerpiece of the interior is a bar counter, where in the evening the author's coffee cocktails are prepared. One has only to go to the bar area, as before the eyes there is a spectacular view of shelving with alcohol, which have no end - thanks to the darkened mirror on the ceiling, their magnitude is emphasized. Address: Antonovycha St 172, 03150 - Kyiv, Ukraine
Par Bar PRO Espresso bar BY YUDIN DESIGN
The focal point of the interiors is the bar counter resembles the letter U and is a glass showcase under which the designers have laid 1300 tablets of coffee pomace. To show the progressiveness of this coffee bar in the interior, the YUDIN Design team used a calm color scheme, sleek and streamlined shapes, while panoramic windows evoke a feeling of confidence, stability and comfort. In general terms, the style of the interior can be delineated as Scandinavian futurism. Besides, the designers have developed original tables with a recess for bags in the shape of a letter U. Le Pristine
BY SPACE COPENHAGEN
NEW
For Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, founders of Space Copenhagen, bringing Le Pristine to life has been an exercise in using design to weave together art, gastronomy and architecture, resulting in a project that seeks to celebrate Antwerp as a destination. Space Copenhagen saw its role in Le Pristine as orchestrating a composition of diverse references, creating a space that feels distinctly modern, whilst reaching back in time to honour the architecture and art of the city. The interiors play host to an inviting collage of historic references and contemporary palettes, harnessing the collective energy of the chefs, artists, and craftspeople involved. Address: Lange Gasthuisstraat 13, 2000 Antwerpen, Belgium
BY YODEZEEN
Par Bar is a new restaurant and bar in a residential area of Kyiv, created according to the principle of genuineness. Its concept is plotted on beauty through simplicity. The combination of natural materials such as wood and stone defines a warm home space. Preparing such handicrafts like slats, tables and chairs, YODEZEEN worked closely with a small team of individual wood craftsmen, and most of the decor and furniture solutions were modeled from the sketches of the studio's designers. The character of the interior is also underlined by several expansive gestures: the architects considered the emptiness created by the high ceilings - so they chose a minimalistic black color and almost invisible lamps, reminiscent of tree branches, hanging elegantly and almost invisibly. Address: Shota Rustaveli St 10, 02000 - Kyiv, Ukraine
Xaman
BY ESTUDIO ATEMPORAL
Located in the jungle of Tulum, Xaman's succession of concrete volumes emerge from the ground to contrast with the vegetation creating a series of pavilions with a heavy material feel that at the same time can be felt light by its structure. This space generates a very particular and not so obvious experience, making it feel like the discovery of a site of ruins within the jungle, which makes us question its temporality, as if it had always been there. Address: Carretera Tulum, boca paila km 7.7 - Tulum, Mexico

Raimunda BY MADRID IN LOVE STUDIO
The decoration of the Raimunda restaurant has been based on the legend of the daughter of the Marquises of Linares, whose ghost would remain enclosed within the walls of the palace. For this reason, Madrid in Love Studio has stripped the premises, exposing the brick and cement, as if trying to escape. To link the building to its stage as Casa de América, Raimunda is reincarnated as a mestizo woman who presides over the room and surrounds herself with elements such as ethnic fabrics, rattan and vegetation. In the club area, a more sophisticated style of interior design has been adopted, while the terrace is inspired by the great explorers, with impressive spherical balls of light. Address: Madrid, Spain
Theorem Winery BY RICHARD BEARD ARCHITECTS
Located west of downtown Calistoga, the twostory building, featuring dark roofing and siding, is a steel structure with a cross-axis floor plan. Axial vistas allow for views from and through the winery facility. Steel-framed glass doors and windows fill the interior spaces with natural light, reducing the need for supplemental lighting in the fermentation room and visually connecting interior spaces to the natural surroundings. The area is marked by a simple table with chairs and a chandelier that blends perfectly with the minimalist style of the cellar. In addition, the roof features a continuous monitor to provide ample daylight into the structure. Address: 255 Petrified Forest Rd - Calistoga, CA, USA
La Vaca y La Huerta BY ZOOCO ESTUDIO
The restaurant’s name means “The cow and the orchard” and it talks about the main product of the restaurant and the starting point for us to start with the project. The designers created a metallic lattice to show the existing walls and to give the new features to the ambiance. The geometry of the lattice comes from an abstraction of the world of agriculture and livestock. This lattice materializes in a natural oak wood in the areas of smooth walls and in black lacquered metal in the areas of the brick walls. The metallic structure is duplicated in some points to create the back bar station or storage spaces. Address: Calle de Recoletos 7 - Madrid, Spain 48 | G&G _ Magazine
Mulberry BY OPEN AD
OPEN AD introduced 21st century interpretations of the wall panelling and cornices which had disappeared from the ground floor space. The furniture is a modern take on classic pieces. The designers embraced rich materials like velvet, marble, brass and wood. The flowing shapes of the furniture are a nod to Art Nouveau. A handmade wall decor honors the craftsmanship and skill of the pastry chefs. The collage is made of sieves, spoons and spatulas. It references just how much work and attention goes into every pastry. This incredible attention to detail was also a guiding principle for Open AD in the overall design of the Mulberry. Address: Ausekļa iela 14 – Riga, Latvia
Daily
BY SIVAK+PARTNERS
This coffee place has an arthouse movie atmosphere. From every perspective you have a sense of a movie episode where people casually interact with each other. The counter area is made in warm tones and with an accent to black like the stools or the lighting system (which also acts as shelves for the plants). The floor is made with a geometric pattern that fits perfectly with the rest of the design. Daily's interiors are simple and clean but meanwhile very stylish with a strong visual impression. So, this place is not just a coffee shop, but also kind of an urban space, offering some social events like ‘’Breakfast with an interesting person”, hosting different famous people sharing some inspiring speeches with guests. Address: Rishelievska Street 33– Odessa, Ukraine
ZWIN by SHOco. BY YOD GROUP
ZWIN & SHOco. combines a modern confectionerybakery and wine bar. The uniqueness of this project lies in the combination of two different formats within the same space, which work with different products independently of each other. In the design of this project used authentic materials: all wooden furniture and installations are made of oak wine barrels. Bar counter and high tabletops lined with copper. In the center of space above the bar counter is installed a large-scale installation of 32 Bordeaux barrels with the ZWIN logo. Thanks to backlighting, it attracts people's attention from the street – in the evening it is clearly visible through the front panoramic windows. Extravagant Simplicity 52 | G&G _ Magazine
SITUATED ON MIDOSUJI BOULEVARD, A NEW 27-STORY LANDMARK HIGHRISE, DESIGNED BY NIKKEN SEKKEI AND CONCRETE ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATES, IS THE HOME OF JAPAN'S FIRST W HOTEL.
F
or W’s first hotel in Japan, concrete absorbed the sites, sounds, flavors and thrills of Osaka. From the simple beauty of the cherry blossoms and gingko trees lining the Midosuji Boulevard to the vibrant neon and busy streetscape of Osaka’s nightlife district Dotonburi. Concrete found inspiration in both the simple and traditional, as well as the modern and extravagant, and created a design concept of extravagant simplicity celebrating the true spirit of the city. The “wow” experience starts with the long arrival tunnel from the main Midōsuji Boulevard entrance. Inspired by delicate blossoms and the fine art of origami, more than 3000 circles were laser cut into sturdy metal and folded randomly. The lights behind the abstract blossom change colors with the 4 seasons and shift in intensity from daytime to night – creating an otherworldly portal into the world of W

Osaka. The experience proceeds in the arrival lobby where the asanoha pattern was the inspiration behind the ceiling, flooring and staircase. A simple yet bold ceiling uses a scaled-up, 3D version of this traditional geometric pattern – which is reflected in the pattern on the granite flooring, in 6 dark grey shades. The lifts whisk visitors up to the 3rd floor for check-in where the Living room & Bar were placed - the social heart of the hotel. Sofas, poufs, lounge chairs and tables are positioned to group social life. Curated furniture includes playful lounge chairs by Tacchini as well as Lensvelt AVL Glyder sofas, designed by Atelier van Lieshout.
These were customized with powdercoated stainless-steel plinths and upholstered in a textured material in bright colors: from purple to pink to orange to yellow to blue to green. Above the indoors lounge floats a wild cloud of rectangular lamps, hanging vertically and horizontally, at various heights. White zigzag LED “neon” lights shine through the translucent acrylic forms, in a desaturated homage to Osaka neon. While along the edge of the outdoor terrace, a long bench faces inwards. Bamboo planting separates the patio from the city, for a sense of seclusion with glimpses of city life between the green leaves.
The hotel offers all-day French and international dining available in the hotel’s 160-seat Restaurant Oh.lala, with a collaboration with the chef of Michelin-star restaurant, La Cime. With its floor-to-ceiling

windows, the restaurant offers amazing views of Midōsuji Boulevard. The interior design draws its inspiration from traditional French cuisine's copper pots and pans, as well as the typical Breton shirt. Its blue and white stripes have been changed shape into the hotel's characteristic circles and zigzags. From above clouds of small glass pendant lights, suspended at different heights within the waves of the curtain, add sparkle to the ambiance. Between these clouds, copper-toned chandeliers offer subtle downlighting. The open kitchen is clad in stainless steel while, above, there is a wall of rectangular white tiles with a handmade look. In front of all this is an airy copper frame, created to hold coppercolored pots, pans and other objects that enhance the French atmosphere.
Health and wellness is found on the 4th floor, with its smooth walls and rounded corners. Guests are welcomed at the beauty bar - the heart of this floor. The bar is made of half-round oak slats that accentuate its natural curves. The acrylic countertop, at the height of the horizon line, glows warm white from within, while the recessed, illuminated plinth makes it seem as though the bar is floating above the grey marble flooring. Above hangs a custom light fixture made of acrylic tubes attached to brass rings, gracefully suspended in graduated sizes. On the one side, sliding glass doors open onto the courtyard – while on the other side, walls of grey granite stone are topped with the chrome horizon line and color-coded tiling. Tiling in shades of cobalt blue and grey granite flooring distinguishes the pool area, which runs alongside the courtyard. Tucked in niches with brass ceilings are comfortable day beds with brass side tables. The corridor tiled in shades of grey leads guests to the gym, with great views of the city. The chrome horizon line continues, 58 | G&G _ Magazine
inside, between the grey tiling and grey marble wall cladding. Running along the tiling is an LED artwork inspired by the famous Osaka landmark, the neon Glico Running Man. Here, to add a dynamic touch to the exposed ceiling, radiating across the space are acrylic tube LED lights mounted on chrome. Separated from the gym by a glass wall, the member’s lounge is tiled in shades of pink, with grey marble cladding under the horizon line. Along the grey marble pathway are niches with wooden floors and brass ceilings – one with a brown leather sofa and the other with a cabinet for dropping off towels. Along the window are sofas and chairs, and a large, round communal table.
The color theme of the guest rooms alternates per floor, between sakura pink and blue, allowing guests to choose the color they prefer. The rooms consist of an open plan, with the living room, sleeping zone and bathroom separated by a contemporary glass shoji screen. Floor-toceiling windows bring in natural light and amazing views of the city. A wall made of grey tinted 2-way mirrors conceals an ‘escape’ lighting feature. When turned on, it transforms the room with dramatic pink or blue diagonal stripes, inspired by Osaka’s neon. High above Osaka, on the 27thfloor, the Extreme Wow suite looks out over, and beyond, the skyline of the city. Inspired by traditional Japanese homes, the suite was designed in a sequence of 5 rooms divided by deep, oak portals with sliding shoji screens that can be used to close off or open up the different rooms. The overall design is based on the duality of simplicity and extravagance, allowing guests to change the atmosphere of the suite. Whether they desire an intimate and personal ambiance or want to create a more extraverted setting for entertaining. Address: Chuo-Ku 4-1-3 Minami Semba, 542-0081 Osaka, Japan

AT Design designed Bole Art Hotel located in the river bay of the Yangtze River in Wuhu City, a shining pearl inlaid at the intersection of Wanjiang and Qingyijiang. Photography by Song Ye
ESSENCE
The hotel is named "Bole", which means that the hotel is like a cruise ship anchored on the Yangtze River. Designers Shen Mo and Tao Jianpu from AT Design combined concepts such as the water of the Yangtze River, docks, containers, and sailboats into the space design. The original building is arc-shaped, and transparent “boxes” are constructed of glass. Every space can enjoy the view of the Yangtze River. The hotel covers an area of 2,000 square meters, and has planned 12 guest rooms, restaurants, party areas, open-air infinity swimming pools, public rest areas and other areas. Particular attention is paid to the public rest area composed by a restaurant, a bar front desk and a sunken deck. Through the floor-toceiling glass, the space suddenly opens up. At this point, the building seems to disappear, and there are subtle 72 | G&G _ Magazine
connections between the space and the environment. The top of the entire public area is a piece of wood. The curved block surface of the bottom of the cruise ship is extracted and the mast is used as the support column, full of surprises and highlights. AT Design team hopes that guests can feel the experience of being in a
cruise ship while sitting by the window and enjoying the river view in the distance. The designer continuously injects freshness into the space and builds a pool landscape around the Sunken living room living room. Looking into the distance, the water surface extends out of the space infinitely and merges with the river water.
An arc-shaped walkway runs through the guest rooms on both sides. In order to make the building independent, a metal plate with a circular hole is used to separate it from the surrounding environment. Light penetrates through the circular hole and spots are reflected on the wall like sparkling water. Shuttle in the light and shadow, like a dream and illusion. The 12 guest rooms of Bole Art Hotel are all facing the river. Surrounded by natural landscape, the space is more unique and touching. In the parent-child room, the circular window in the cabin becomes the main structure of the bed. The circular skylight reflects the blue sky, interacting with people layer by layer, and the space becomes interesting.

The suite on the west has a living room and lounge area, a casual bookcase and a spa area. The elegant colors and furniture are full of modern and artistic sense. The arc elements of the sailing boat are extracted on the top to fill the space with a sense of shape. A metal texture imitates the texture of the water waves, and dialogue with the distant river scene. The elongated skylight design brings the space closer to nature, and natural light fills the entire space. This comfort is irreplaceable. The black box shaped wall extracts the concept of the container and contrasts it with the original wood-colored decorative surface. Between the pure colors, warm lights and furniture give the space warmth and comfort. There is a tea space in the guest room, looking at the river view in the distance, taste tea culture, tradition and modernity collide. Returning to the essence of the hotel allows travelers to calm down and enjoy the tranquility of the moment. Address: Block C, Binjiang North Road - Wuhu, China

Walls in rich blue plaster have aged brass detailing, while a picture rail highlights custom wall sconces and a curated collection of local artwork. Rich detailing includes leather wrapped handrails, wood-on-wood inlay tabletops, and striking banquettes, which feature twotone leather upholstery. There are the five distinct areas: one to match any occasion like the sunken bar for a cocktail, or the outdoor terrace - a sophisticated spot to escape the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. While, on the 17th floor, the Rooftop Ballroom & Bar features industrial blackened steel structural elements that frame the space and support a pyramid
skylight, while dark glazed bricks are reminiscent of a NYC loft space. Concrete and wood intermingle in the space to create the illusion of a skyline, while the cocktail bar is designed as a jewel box of brass, purple, and copper hues, fronted by elegant bar stools, which create an exclusive and luxurious speakeasy feel. Kimpton Tokyo also features a functioning Chapel on the 16th floor, with threedimensional textured wood panels and Diana royal marble flooring. Adjacent to the chapel is a pre-function space that doubles as a lifestyle lounge for guests to enjoy the dramatic views over the city.
The guestrooms’ design was inspired by the Japanese concept of “Okaeri,” which means “welcome home.” The rooms evoke a calm and restorative feeling for guests who have been exploring the dynamic Tokyo. Rockwell Group conceived a natural and neutral palette with playful surprises that make guest feel at home with a subtle metal floral inlay on the Japanese charred wood headboard – a modern twist on Japan's long tradition of Ikebana flower arrangements. To complete the room is a striped fabric sofa, inspired by the orderly chaos of Tokyo's pedestrian crossings, including the iconic Shibuya crossing. TWO IN ONE Located in Hod Hasharon near Tel Aviv, architect Raz Melamed has designed two houses with the look of one where each tells a different story. Photography by Itay Benit
The house features spectacular architecture through balanced touches of concrete, wood, black and white which seamlessly lace from the exterior to the interior of the house in all their glory. The clients are two brothers therefore the houses, living side by side, were created with two separate programs. A common wall separates them and presents the only architectural element they have in common. The initial design of this house was done by architect Eyal Apple and continued by architect Raz Melamed in coordination with the building engineer. Upon adopting this project, Melamed focused on updating the openings of the house, changing columns and designing 90 | G&G _ Magazine
the facades, and planning the entire interior design. Creating a magic-like appearance made possible through careful thought and planning, the architect created a harmonious and continuous architectural unit, without partitions. Only those who know the interior of the houses would be able to identify when one house ends and the other begins. From the initial planning phase of the house, the plans referred to the building as two separate houses – “House A” and “B” with each space adapted to the customers’ wishes, and yet the architectural language is common to both. This project expresses Melamed's architectural mission that clings to clean lines,
quiet colors and natural materials. All of these appear in the project, with an emphasis on a warm atmosphere, functionality, and the suitability of the house for those who live in it, while taking into account everyday needs along with precise aesthetics. On the main façade, a white cement board rises to a perfect grid height, which covers the meeting between the two houses, making it homogeneous. The asymmetrical façade obscures the division of the building into two, as well as the front door to the right house, which implies that it is one house, when in practice the house to the left is sideways. The house on the right from the street is “House A”, in which concrete stairs lead to the black door, which stretches to the entire height of the building, standing out in contrast to the white grid and produces a dramatic entrance. Outside of the house is a steel fountain that displays powerful geometry, and fills the pool as an architectural marvel, as it looks at all like a white wall bursting into the garden, stretching its boundaries to the outdoors. The surrounding garden is filled with vegetation and tin planters, a marvel that is visible through the free-standing glass surrounding the garden without connections.
At the request of customers, inside the house the space was designed with particularly high ceilings, omitting an additional floor so that all in all the house contains 3 floors. Besides, Melamed created a clean glass look by moving the vertical construction pillars away from the fronts and corners so that they hold the second floor on the one hand and contribute to a transparent and continuous façade on the other. At the same time, these columns do not connect to the black beams, forming a constructive and intentionally designed horizontal line throughout the structure. The entrance of the "House A" features gray natural stone flooring, while in the rooms it is replaced by parquet, a design used in both houses. To the right is the graphite kitchen, designed in both homes with tall cabinets with a wooden cube for the work area in front of a 92 | G&G _ Magazine
free-standing island whose stone surface seems to grow from the floor, designed for comfortable seating and efficient work. The air-conditioning unit is painted black, like the lighting and construction, and is hidden within the carpentry as a design choice that honors the height and prevents unnecessary lowering. Light fixtures stretch along the space, leading towards the dining area with a light look and the warmth of hardwood. Next up is the living room that leans against a wall in the pattern of the white grid in the front of the house, a perfect grid that brings the outside in. Two wall light fixtures are hung from the wall, which also repeat in the garden on the same axis, illuminating airy furniture in straight lines that stand on floating legs.
Following the stairs that surround the elevator shaft, we arrive at the bedroom floor and head straight into the master suite. At the entrance, a carpentry cube has been designed to hide the bathroom and closets, so that in the sleeping space there is only a bed and a chair. The bathroom is paved with stone and covered with white tiles to create a pastoral space with a wooden cabinet that brings peace. The guest bathroom, on the other hand, is dramatic and covered in minimalist dark gray for a theatrical atmosphere. 94 | G&G _ Magazine
To the left of the house stands “House B”. In this house, it was important for its occupants to have a luxurious home spread over 4 floors. The entrance is through a detailed wooden door, a design element which repeats in varying shapes on the house’s three outer facets, while hiding the seam line between the two houses from the back. This wood is used to fill the open spaces in the concrete to create privacy for the bathrooms and children while also contributing to the warm accents of color. It is woven into the house's perimeter of concrete through a grid that creates a design interest, which leads to an open balcony in the front of the house.
To the right of the entrance is a kitchen made of wood veneer for a feeling of warmth and connection with the outside. It incorporates an asymmetrical gray island with a surface that looks like a floating cloud despite the massive material from which it is built. Next to it is a family corner for quality time with a touch of happy color on the orange sofa. The air conditioning, lighting and aluminum systems are painted black, and around them the design is composed of light shades. The living room is also intended for entertaining, with an asymmetrical wall in the back of the sofa covered with carpentry that repeats the 96 | G&G _ Magazine
gray grid in front of the house, and hides the fireplace, air conditioning, and control systems. Next to it is another cube covered with porcelain granite and below it a black shelf that serves as a sideboard. The combinations of colors and materials on the same wall create a strong connection between the exterior and the interior, as well as create a spunky and elegant design. The architectural mass gets a light twist thanks to the floating iron steps combined with an airy mesh railing, which climbs into a double space. The dining area next to them is equipped with black mesh chairs, which reinforce this visibility in the space.
Upstairs are the bedrooms, with the guest suite furnished with white carpentry, and attached to it a bath with dramatic cladding, and a wooden closet that creates quiet. In each house separately, and in both houses together, the name of the game
98 | G&G _ Magazine
is balance: low and high space, wood and iron, white and black, functionality and aesthetics - all of which in harmonious precise touches come together to make the architecture a remarkable harmonious masterpiece and perfect for living.

riginally a country house, this residential property 350m² presents a modern makeover realised by Bolshakova Interiors where integrity and harmony with the environment are fundamental components of the design. Nataly Bolshakova’s major consideration was to have plenty of space: this was her first house, so naturally the work on the project was very emotional for the team. Soothing shades and natural materials

“Lighting is one of the main components when creating the perfect interior. The source of the light should be a visually beautiful design, which compliments the rest of the decor.” were used in the whole house. In the living room, the designers used the sophisticated furniture from Poliform while the straight lines highlight the elegant lighting created by Penta. The key point of the room is the fireplace that allows spectacular views from the windows and a connection with the street. The TV area is an extra element that was easily incorporated into the whole project. Another gem in this room was the lamps created by Nataly Bolshakova that combine elegance and functionality. A stable marble base flows into a beautifully designed brass rod; the same material was used in the decoration of the lampshade, creating some eye-catching contrasts.
104 | G&G _ Magazine
From the living room you can glimpse an elegant dining area: here an artwork by Hermès creates the right contrast with the Poliform furniture in soft colors. Regarding to the kitchen, the customer specifically requested a zone that was spacious with no narrow passages since, at the weekend, the whole family spends a lot of time here. The designers, also, allocated a separate area for cooking overlooking the beautiful landscape that can be seen from the window. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary functional solutions, and the stand made of natural quartzite rises into the air, emphasizing the panels on the floor to which the drawings of children are transferred. The bathroom on the ground floor reflects the mood of the entire level and is constructed in contrasting shades. The combination of glass and tiles under the natural stone of Ardesia and wood creates an elegant impression. All this was accompanied by the quality plumbing system by the Italian brand Cielo.
106 | G&G _ Magazine
A large wooden staircase leads to the 2nd floor where there is the sleeping area consisting of 3 bedrooms and bathrooms. In addition, a splendid chandelier by Flos has been placed in the stairwell, which visually connects the two floors. In the master bedroom, the focal point is the view outside the window and was the basis on which the whole house was designed. The colour scheme is very muted: for the decoration of the walls, the
designers opted for the panels faced with fabric. While the overall colour scheme is maintained with a discreetly designed Poliform bed with bright edging. The main concept of the bathrooms on the 2nd floor is that mirrors don’t appear above the wash basins to be able to admire the natural beauty outside the window. The master bathroom is constructed from “Sahara Noir” Italian marble and porcelain stoneware from Ardesia.
108 | G&G _ Magazine
Two children's rooms are based on ideas generated by the children themselves: all the colours, finishes and decor were chosen by them. Children have different ideas and needs, so naturally their rooms are different. In the first room, special attention was paid to textures and finishes, resulting in a bright, cheerful space. While in other room more delicate shades that
complement the wallpaper from Hermes were utilised. Here, the shelves were constructed using the Dutch studio Moooi’s innovative “watching us animals” designs. The bathroom is a vivid embodiment of what could be described as versatile conciseness. Bright wallpaper from the Italian factory Glamora and plumbing by Cielo complete the project.

he unprecedented trio of newly constructed luxury residences are located side by side on Marco Place, one of Venice’s four famed walk streets, and represents the inaugural collaboration between iconic interior design studio Joan Behnke & Associates and award-winning Abramson Architects. The Historic Modern is a 2700sf newly constructed home consisting of an original 1907 Japanese Craftsman cottage combined with a metal clad modern, lightfilled structure, inspired by historic-modern architecture often seen in Europe. Abramson Architects designed the home to express and explore materiality, shape, and light. Every detail was restored or replaced with alike through a collaborated effort with a certified historian and the Office of Historic Resources (OHR) which works to protect, enhance, and revitalize the City’s historic places through its comprehensive preservation program. This was the first time that a house was moved on a Venice walk street. The two volumes meet seamlessly to create a handsome modern dwelling that provides all the comforts and amenities of the Abbot Kinney lifestyle without disrupting the neighborhood’s history and character. As soon as you enter the front door, the house opens up with an open and large living area. On one side the designers have included a TV area with a nice white sofa, while on the other side we find the lounge area where the path is the focal point of the design. From the latter you can glimpse a study corner characterized by a rusticstyle slide and with access to the front garden.

“We deeply understand and respect this community and its artistic culture and history, which is why we felt it was so important to partner with world class designers and architects like Joan Behnke and Abramson Architects to create something really unique that would stand the test of time.” - Ron Harel, Principal of M.E Development, the family-run boutique development company behind Modern Venice Homes
“We challenged ourselves to design something that would embody the old and new,. What makes Venice so unique is that it’s a diverse patchwork of architectural eras and styles. This presented a rare opportunity for Abramson Architects to design three side by side residences and to truly add something distinctive to the existing urban fabric.” - Trevor Abramson.

The dining room area stands out thanks to the step and a frame formed by two side bookcases embedded in the walls. Here a large wooden table and chairs blend perfectly with the underlying carpet with vertical lines. Also, the home features a stately gourmet kitchen designed for entertaining and
healthy living including a full suite of smart appliances including steam oven, architectural fixtures, and a state-of-the-art beverage station with on-demand hot, cold, and sparkling water, and more. Both environments have a simple but modern design accompanied by a sophisticated lighting.
Throughout the home, bold black and white tile provides pattern and visual interest, including bold striped grand staircase leading to the second floor. The bedrooms follow the design of the whole house: simple but elegant. While the bathrooms offer some unique details like the sculptural integrated sink, or a private spa with smart steam shower. In each room the windows with black frames have been highlighted that give a touch of character to the rooms, as well as being the source of natural light. 116 | G&G _ Magazine

n this luxury home, which stands out for the outdoor spaces that run along its entire perimeter, avant-garde and contemporary spaces have been created, as well as accommodating its 120 m2 of terrace. The main premise defined by its owners was that the colour blue should be present in every room, as well as obtaining large quality spaces that meet their needs. The aesthetic change in this penthouse is striking, as all the walls of the house have been covered in paper made from linen and cottons, as well as with wooden panelling. Oak wood is used as a common thread in all the spaces, as well as the chromatic palette of blues. At the same time, all the areas were restored, and their essence and soul were returned to them. Homogeneous and spacious areas
120 | G&G _ Magazine
were obtained, where natural light is one of the main protagonists thanks to the open spaces that run through the house. The existing layout of this penthouse was maintained as it was generally adapted to the needs of its owners. Minimal interventions were carried out to obtain more diaphanous spaces without visual obstacles, avoiding their separation and compartmentalisation. The designers opted for a style that combines contemporary elements with a marked chromatic palette based on blue tones. The day area is separated by the hall that hides the access door to the night area, as well as the courtesy bathroom. The dining room and the living room were accommodated in the same open-plan space, distinguishing each of the rooms, which also included a reading area with a bookshelf.
The kitchen was given a new image using the main premise and a breakfast area was included on the terrace through which it gives access. All day areas are connected in such a way that the dialogue between them is not broken, and the compartmenta lisation of the areas is avoided. As in the other areas, here too the blue color is not lacking. The kitchen is deep blue and is accompanied by accessories in other
shades of the blue such as lamps of & Tradition and photographs in Senda Gallery. All this fits perfectly with the light wood of the table and the bench made by measure by The Room Studio.
In the night area, the bedroom suites were designed using a contemporary and informal style. Colour contrasts were included in each room through art, textiles and wallpapers. The aim was to give it an elegant air that breaks with cooler, more informal fabrics and colours. The suite is designed in blue and gray tones with a touch of playfulness given by the presence of complements and accessories in warm colors. Besides, the room gives access to another of the terraces where a folding pergola was placed as a leisure area, as well as the rest and reading corner as an extension of the suite room. While the design of the bathroom is simple but at the same refined thanks to the use of quality details and pure elegance. 124 | G&G _ Magazine
