Editor’s Message Hey Hey Monsters! All finally the school year has started and everyone is back to school and currently suffering from all the homework they have each night. But you know what can get your mind off of things is a little bit of volunteering on the weekends to help you lift your spirits a little.

In this issue, you’ll find a recap of our past service events and see some upcoming August DCM 7-8 events as well. There are lots of things you can do to get involved, so if you have time 9-14 Past Service Events please feel free to stop by and check these events out. Grassroots & Our Moments

Member of the Month: Samantha Asilo 1) What was your favorite service event and why? My sister's house donation sorting because it was a lot of fun and we talked to every one who was working there. All in all it was just a great working environment. 2) What are some of your hobbies? I do not really have any specific hobbies. I like to do everything.

3) What do you enjoy most about Key Club?

The thing i enjoy most about Key Club is our spirit and how easy it is for everyone to be hyped up.

4) Why is volunteering important to you?

Volunteering is important because it exposes you to the community and gives you an idea what events happen in the community.

During August, Samantha was a particularly active member. Performing a significant amount of hours, she showed off her orange and white becoming more active not only in Key Club but in the community as well. In addition to service events, Samantha has also attended division events, showing that her Key Club Spirit doesn't just extend to the club level. I know that Key Club will be seeing much more of Samantha in the coming term.

Our Key Club Moments

These are some personal statements from your fellow officers in which they realized how much they enjoyed serving this wonderful organization. If I had to narrow it down to one moment when I decided I wanted to be more than just a member, it would be the moment we won the spirit stick at Fall Rally North. Back track to September, I was picked to be on the Division Spirit Committee and that was my first leadership experience in Key Club. Not only did it push me outside my bubble to work with such amazing and passionate people from other schools, it also allowed me to learn more about Key Club on a division level and as an overall organization. We spent countless hours planning and communicating with each other for the Spirit Festival and Fall Rally North and when we won the spirit stick, all our hard work was rewarded. Winning the spirit stick was not my goal in joining the Spirit Committee or attending Fall Rally North, but it did solidify my motivation in continuing to serve the members of Key Club. I am and forever will be grateful to be a part of this organization that has helped me grow as a person and a leader. - Mary Ramirez
