I’ve been Cast’s Director for six months, and in that time I have been struck by the vibrancy, positivity and energy of the place. Doncaster is a town that’s going places, and it’s a huge privilege to be steering a flagship, well-loved asset of the town at this hugely ambitious and exciting time. This Spring/Summer we’re proud to present the very best in entertainment here at Cast, including The Magic of Motown (p37) and Pasha from Strictly (p27) to name a few. Spring also sees the return of Yorkshire greats Phoenix Dance Theatre who present a new work inspired by British migration of the 50s and 60s to a toe-tapping soundtrack of MOBO greats (p7), John Godber gets on his bike, starring in his own new play The Scary Bikers (p25), and we see the return of Gary Clarke’s celebrated Coal (p5). Our family work continues to thrive with Northern Ballet’s Ugly Duckling (p33) our Dinosaur experience (p32) and lots of other family shows. What’s more, we’ve created a new way for under 5s to catch the theatre bug. Keep an eye out for the bugs in our building and brochure (p41). The very best in innovative theatre from the UK’s most acclaimed companies tour to Doncaster. Reckless Sleepers (Negative Space p5), Gecko (The Wedding p7) and Vamos Theatre (A Brave Face p27) are doing really inventive work and if you’ve not seen a show in our Second Space, this space houses an eclectic range of more intimate shows, often showcasing new topical work. New shows go on sale about once a month, so if you’d like to be the first in the know, why not opt in to receive emails from us, become a member and receive priority booking or follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
