Greetings, Kiwis!
Whoa. The 2016-2017 term is finally upon us, and I am more excited than ever. I‟m extremely honored to have the privilege to serve you all as Castro Valley High School Key Club’s President this term, alongside your fantastic officer board. This organization has given me so much and now. Whether it was cheering my heart out at Fall Rally North 2015 or celebrating alongside my fellow CNH Bees at District Convention 2016 (which are two events that I HIGHLY recommend everyone to attend next year), Key Club has played a huge part in making me the person I am today, and I cannot imagine my life without it. And now, I feel that it is now my turn to give something back to all of you. Thank you Kiwis, for giving me the opportunity to serve you. You have been and always will be a second family to me. Last year‟s term was outstanding for sure, but this year, I know we can do better and soar to greater heights! I can‟t wait to see what amazing things we will accomplish for our club, for our division, and for our family. This is going to be one amazing year. Kiwis, let‟s get lost in service together. “We rise by lifting others.” -Robert Ingersoll Yours in service, JP Aquino

What is your favorite aspect of Key Club? My favorite aspect of Key Club is its ability to bring together so many people. I feel motivated to help others more because everyone is helping along side me. What was your favorite Key Club memory? Beading at the Jenny Lin event because it was my first Key Club event, and I met some really nice people and made me feel less shy! Although Ellen’s journey has just started, she is both active meetings and events. Ellen always brings positivity and kindness everywhere she goes. Keep up the great work Ellen!

RECAPS Cherry Blossom Festival Event (4/16/16) How would you describe the event in 5 words? “Four hours worth volunteering for.“ - Chris Lau
Hayward Shoreline (4/17/16) Which of the 4 Core Values did you see most at this event? “I think character building is the core value I saw the most. With hundreds of plants which needing to be removed, volunteers with positive outlooks could do the work with no complaint. I saw some who came focusing on the negative things about what we had to do and complained. Yet after a while many became optimistic and wanted to do as much as possible.” - Anthony Alvarez
Kraken Con (4/26/16) How would you summarize the event? “The event went really well! we raised a good amount of money for Arts for Oakland Kids. Everything ran smoothly and it was very organized. Kraken-con itself was great.” - Patrice Cheung Page 6

District Convention April 8-10, 2016 ,
Kiwis, Are you missing DCON as much as I am? Are you suffering from post-dcon depression? No worries! Let’s take a trip back to DCON 2016! Out of all the Key Club events, I would have to say that DCON would have to be one of my favorite event. Nothing beats the feeling of meeting others who share the same passion as you, enjoying both Key Club and service! Upon entering Sacramento, the previous night consisted of packing as much clothes, foods, electronics, and other necessities as possible into my duffle bag. I stuffed my duffle bag so full I had no idea how my duffle bag was going to make it to DCON, to be quite honest. Luckily, both my bag and I arrived safely. The first day of DCON consisted of traveling to Sacramento, arriving at our hotel, eating lunch/dinner, checking in to the convention center, attending seminars, and general session with special speaker, Heather Schultz! Saturday quickly followed with breakfast, more seminars, general session, lunch, college expo, dinner, another general session, and the much anticipated, Governor's Ball! During seminars, I was able to meet others from different division/regions, learn different aspects of becoming a student-leader, and to hear key clubbers’ stories from all over Cali-Nev-Ha. At general sessions, we celebrated all of our accomplishments during the past 13 months, spirit battled other divisions, awards were given, and the retirement and installation of the old and new board. Sadly, Sunday arrived with the start of breakfast and conclusion of the closing general session. As DCON came to an end, many tears and hugs were shared as the ‘15-’16 term officially ended, and the ‘16-’17 term began their journey.
