Greetings!

Salutations, Kiwis! The start of a new school term is finally here! I am absolutely honored to have the privilege of serving you all as the Castro Valley High School Key Club President, alongside your fantastic officer board for the 2016-2017 term. Key Club has given me so many life-changing opportunities. Events such as Fall Rally North, Region Training Conference, and District Convention have opened my eyes to what Key Club is all about and what it has to offer me. But now, I feel that it is now my duty as President to return the favor and give something back to all of you. As always, thank you Kiwis, for giving me the opportunity to serve you. After these past few years, you remain a second family to me. In the years to come, you will always be a second family to me. If Key Club has given this much to me, I am ecstatic to see the amazing things it can do for YOU. This year, let us make it our goal to strive for greater heights together! I cannot wait to see the fantastic achievements we will make for our club, for our division, and for our family. I am both honored and humbled at the chance to be serving with you all. This year is just beginning and is still full of new surprises. Let’s make it a good one, Kiwis. “Only a life lived in the service to others is worth living,” -Albert Einstein Yours in service, JP Aquino CVHS Key Club President 2016-2017 4

K family Love: SLZ Cemetery Clean up 9/24/16

Did you know that along with Key Club there are also 2 more branches that we work very closely with? Take a guess at what it might be! If you guessed Circle K and the Kiwanis Family you are right! As we say, we are one big family. To strength our bonds even more, we decided to hold a joint event! This event not only strengthen out bonds, but also help recruited interested Kiwanis. We all met at the SLZ Pioneer Cemetery to help clean up the area. With over 25 attendees, the job was a slice of cake! That's the spirit of Key Club teamwork. Some gathered trash, removed garden weeds, racked up leaves, and even help cut down overgrowing trees! Member, Charles Zhang, said that the highlight of this event for him was “when Sean's rake broke and he pulled out a hammer to fix it.” The entire K-Family diligently worked for the next 4 hours even in the heat! Let’s just say the cemetery looked pretty nice afterwards. Good job K family!

Closing Note

Happy October Kiwis! How was your first month of school? I hope it was filled with new friendships, knowledge and of course, service! Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior or even senior it is never too late to do some service! We are all open arms to whoever would enjoy some service hours! One of our biggest PTP fundraiser, FRN (Fall Rally North) is approaching very quickly! You will not want to miss this. Filled with spirit, positive energy, rollercoaster rides and newly formed friendships, this trip will defiantly be one of your most memorable Key Club moments or maybe even high school! Talking about fundraisers, our annual InterKey skating event is coming very soon, so share the InterKey love with skating your night away with fellow Khoi fish and Kiwis. During this new school year, I hope to make many more friendships, in and outside of Key Club so don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with me! I love hearing all about you and what amazing stories you have in store. Capturing one moment at a time, Anna Zheng CVHS Key Club Bulletin Editor 2016-2017
