CBN’S OPERATION BLESSING: U.S. DISASTER RELIEF
AFTER THE FLOOD
CBN partners respond to Louisiana community
Mary had never seen anything like it. As a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was accustomed to hurricanes—but never experienced flooding like this before. After escaping her home, she watched in disbelief as her community was engulfed by water. Nearby, Elridge was also fleeing from his home in Lake Charles—for the second time that year, due to heavy rainfall. He was at a loss and had nowhere to turn. Mary is grateful for the help she received.

CBN’S SUPERBOOK
MORE THAN JUST STORIES Why Anya wanted to know more The first time Anya went to church in her village in Eastern Ukraine, she was introduced to the stories of the Bible through Superbook. With no previous knowledge of the truth of God’s Word, she thought that the cartoons were just that—stories. But when her aunt explained that the stories were true, she wanted to know more. “I really wanted to know what other miracles God had done,” she explained eagerly. However, Anya’s parents weren’t so sure about her newfound interest
in the church. Yet Anya still had hope. “I began praying that my parents would start attending the church,” she remembered, and soon her prayer was answered! “I couldn’t help but wonder,” Anya’s mother said, “where my daughter went and why she liked it there. And on Sunday, I went to the service with my daughter.” Today, thanks to partners like you, both Anya and her mother love God and are devoted followers of Christ.
Anya loves sharing the stories of the Bible.

From Darkness to Light

In China, Yaya seemed destined to live in a world of darkness. She has had corneal leukoma in both eyes since she was born. It’s a genetic disease that her father also suffers from. The family only had enough money for Yaya’s left eye. Because of his own eye issues, Yaya’s father has difficulty working. As a result, the family depends on a government subsidy for income, but it wasn’t enough to cover Yaya’s corrective surgery of her right eye. “I depend on listening in class because I can’t see the blackboard. It’s very hard to do homework and read books,” she explained. Life was difficult even with her corrected left-eye vision. Then one day, a local hospital introduced Yaya and her father to CBN’s Operation Blessing. Yaya came to Beijing, and thanks to the generosity of CBN partners, she received her surgery at no cost. Her right eye gradually began to improve. “I was excited when the doctor took the gauze away. I can see! Thank you, CBN,” Yaya gratefully expressed.
Because of the steadfast support of caring friends like you, CBN is able to continue demonstrating the love of Jesus through Christ-centered television programs, food to the hungry, clean water to thirsty villagers, relief to disaster survivors, and much more.

FINDING HIS PLACE
Young Abel discovers love and acceptance.
At the tender age of 9, Abel had already suffered through severe mistreatment at the hands of his stepfather. As a result, he was rebellious, acting out whenever he could. But during a visit to a center supported by Orphan’s Promise near his home in the Republic of Georgia, Abel was surprised by how much the staff understood him. “I remember the first time I met with the employees of the center,”
Abel recalled. “I had never felt this before. It was as if they had melted something in my heart.” Now 14, Abel knows Christ as his Savior and has become involved at the center. He even became a member of the team, teaching drawing classes to younger students. “My life completely changed,” he added joyfully.

YOUR QUESTIONS, HONEST ANSWERS WITH PAT ROBERTSON
Q
If everything is preordained, what control do we really have over our lives?
A
The Bible says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:12-13) (nkjv). There is God’s preordination—and then there is your work. Like a basketball game, one player on the court scores the points. But the team behind them contributes to the action. To achieve victory, you need both. When watching a movie, you see it one frame at a time and believe it is ongoing action. But if you were to lay out the entire film, you could see the beginning to the end all at once. God sees everything at once. He knows the beginning and the end. Even though He has this knowledge, He doesn’t take away the opportunity for people to make their own choices and exercise their free will. Scripture is quoted from the NKJV.

HOW TO FIND PEACE IN HIS PRESENCE Leaving Worry and Panic Behind
by Gordon Robertson President and CEO

hen the disciples were in a horrible storm, they woke Jesus to ask, “Do You not care that we are perishing?” He simply commanded, “Peace,” and the sea became calm (Mark 4:38-39).
into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart. When we ask Jesus to wash us clean, we can ascend with a pure heart to the hill of the Lord. And verse 5 promises, He shall receive blessing from the Lord.
Are we at a place of worry and panic, thinking we’re going to perish? Or are we constant in our faith, knowing that with a single word He can deliver us and save us? In the midst of turmoil we need to seek His presence, His Word, and His direction—for they come from no one else.
We have an incredible privilege to know God. When we enter into the new covenant of His body and blood, we can sense His presence. We have a new heart to love Him, we have a heart to love one another, and we have a heart to do His will. And what is His will? To preach the Gospel to every nation, tribe and tongue.
God is saying, “Come up here. Be in My presence, where all things are possible and I can see you through anything. I am with you and for you. My righteous right hand upholds you. I forgive you, protect you, shield you, provide for you, and heal you.” How do we enter that realm? Psalm 24:3-4 says, Who may ascend
So if we occupy ourselves in obedience to Him, we leave behind the concerns of this world and, as Ephesians 1:19 says, we can understand the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. God bless you! Excerpted from a teaching at CBN Staff Chapel. Scripture is quoted from the NKJV.
