CBN’S SUPERBOOK

FROM WORRY TO HOPE

How you turned desperation to inspiration

Fali found God through Superbook.

Fali sensed that something was missing. His mother did the best she could to care for him. But since her divorce, she was often sick and unable to work. At only the age of 12, he was already worried about his future. Then one day, the young boy and his mother attended a church near their home in Cambodia. There, he watched Superbook for the very first time. The episode “A Giant Adventure” had grabbed his attention. 2 frontlines

“This story taught me to be brave and trust God in everything I do,” he explained. Fali accepted Christ as his Savior and began to pray for his mother. God answered his prayers, and she got well, found a job, and was able to send him to school. The generosity of CBN partners like you makes it possible for Fali and others in need to have new hope for a better future. Watch more stories from Superbook.

THE BLESSING OF FOOD

Giving a struggling family a very special gift

What should have been an exhilarating start to their life was actually a struggle. Andy and Nikki had a home filled with love and very little else. With two young sons, the couple did everything they could to feed their family. “We had nothing,” Andy remembered. “We could barely even feed ourselves.” But thanks to generous partners like you, an Operation Blessingsupported ministry near their home in Florida stepped in to help by providing the family with groceries. “Honestly,” said Nikki, “I don’t see how we would have made it without the blessing of food.” Today, both Nikki and Andy have full-time jobs at the ministry and even volunteer in their spare time. “Thank you to everybody who gives to Operation Blessing,” said Nikki.

Hope for a young teen in Mongolia

You gave Orgil hope for the future!

He was physically and emotionally abused and lived in a 20x25-squarefoot space with 10 people. At the age of 15, Orgil was looking at a bleak future. His mother neglected Orgil, and his father did not want to be involved in his life. Where could he find the love and support he so desperately needed? It started when Orgil discovered a program sponsored by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise. There, he began to open up and share his feelings about what he went

through growing up. And he also found caring people that shared God’s love with him—and he felt accepted. It wasn’t long before Orgil began dreaming of a brighter future. He now aspires to become a mechanic operator. Thanks to the support of faithful partners, people like Orgil can discover hope for a better life.

watched the Superbook episode about Samuel. “I felt like God was calling me just like He called Samuel. I prayed with my teacher to invite Jesus to come into my heart,” says Bam. Bam began praying with her brother and sister every morning before school. Bam in Thailand When 9-year-old Bam went to visit her cousin Shalom, she had no idea how much it would change her life. Shalom was a Christian. Bam was Buddhist. While visiting, Shalom showed Bam a Superbook episode where Naaman, a leper, was healed. When Bam returned home, she told her grandmother, who was also Buddhist, about Naaman’s miracle. Her grandmother asked Bam to pray for her. “Grandma’s legs had been hurting. She could barely walk. I prayed, ‘Father God, thank You for today, and please heal Grandma’s legs completely,’” says Bam. The next morning her grandmother could walk normally again! Bam kept going to Sunday school with her cousin. One day they 8 frontlines

Bam’s grandmother also accepted Christ. “Because of Superbook, I’ve come to know God, my grandma is healed, and my whole family believes in Jesus,” says Bam. “Thank you for creating Superbook for us!” Jolanda in Germany “I never learned to trust God completely as a child, even though I lived in a convent for a while,” says Jolanda. After an accident, Jolanda was no longer able to work. “From then on, I started to struggle with God,” she says. One day Jolanda saw the CBN program Erlebt TV and called CBN’s Prayer Center. “I was in complete despair, and I was struggling so much with God and asking Him, “‘Why is my life so miserable?’” She continued to call the prayer line regularly.

Before long, Jolanda’s heart began to change. She began to understand God’s love and started trusting Him. “The prayer community does so much good. I have learned to pray freely with God, just to talk to Him. I had no relationship with God before. I thought I had to go to confession to meet God. Now I know that God is not about strict rules but wants my heart,” says Jolanda. Mr. Kristanto in Indonesia Two years ago, Mr. Kristanto first contacted the prayer center in Indonesia after watching the CBN program Solusi. At that time, he was desperate because he was in debt to moneylenders after he had paid for his stepfather to go to the hospital. Mr. Kristanto was terrorized by these moneylenders. When he finished working, he tried to make extra money by driving a motorcycle taxi, but he simply could not cover his debt. The person who answered Mr. Kristanto’s call told him about the Lord. To him, the most remarkable thing about Jesus’ teaching was love because he had not received the love he needed from his mother, stepfather, or biological father. Mr. Kristanto prayed to receive Christ that day and forgave his parents. After praying, he desired to study the Bible, and a prayer team member connected him with the local ministry staff.

One month later, Mr. Kristanto contacted the call center again, sharing how God answered his prayer. His sales in the shop where he worked increased, and as a result, he was able to pay off his debts. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:30, The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. This is what you are doing as a CBN partner. You are obeying the Lord by helping to fulfill the Great Commission. Your partnership reveals your compassionate heart as you feed the hungry, provide access to clean water, offer life-changing surgeries, and more. Thank you for your love and support.

CBN NEWS: HEALTHY LIVING

DOES YOUR CHILD SUFFER FROM A SLEEPING DISORDER? Watch

Dr. Winter might have the solution for you Sleep disorders among children are more prevalent than most people realize. Even parents don’t always recognize when their child might have one. Dr. Chris Winter, author of The Rested Child: Why Your Tired, Wired, or Irritable Child May Have a Sleep Disorder—and How to Help, has a few ideas to assist parents in spotting sleep problems and finding a solution. According to Dr. Winter, many childhood sleep disorders are misdiagnosed. “A lot of children who have sleep disorders don’t look that sleepy,” he explains. “They look like they have attention problems. They look like they have mood problems. So, not only is it difficult to diagnose these problems if we’re not looking for them, but they’re very easily misdiagnosed as other conditions.” What do you do, then, if you think your child might have trouble sleeping? Dr. Winter suggests starting with two simple tips: First, he says it’s more important to set a strict wake-up time for your child than it is to set a bedtime. “Make sure that the morning starts 10 frontlines

with a very structured situation, meaning that they get up, out of bed, into some light, around other people, have some food.” That way, the child gets into a regular routine. His second tip is to dim the light and turn the house temperature down in the evening. “That drop in temperature and that drop in light serves as a real natural trigger for kids to want to get sleepy,” he explains. If these natural solutions don’t work, however, it’s always a good idea to talk to your pediatrician about seeing a sleep specialist for further help. Before starting any new health regimen, please consult with your physician.

YOUR QUESTIONS, HONEST ANSWERS WITH PAT ROBERTSON

Q

How do you answer someone who says he’s a Christian but does not believe in the Trinity?

A

I would open the Bible and begin at Matthew 3:17 (nkjv), and take that person back to the baptism of Jesus. Jesus is there in the water, and the Holy Spirit descends on Him through a dove that sits on His shoulder. The verse explains, And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” There, you’ve got the Father, and you’ve got the Son, and of course, the Holy Spirit. You have that throughout the Bible: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You cannot read the Bible without understanding that there is a Trinity and not three separate gods. We believe in one God, externally existent in three beings: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Watch The 700 Club for more questions and answers from Pat Robertson
