RENEWED HOPE FOR SHULI
Shuli’s story is one of courage and perseverance. She emigrated from Belarus to Israel, which is now her home. She is the mother of five children. Her husband is hardworking but his wages are minimal. Because the family can’t afford a car, they must use the bus for transportation. This is especially challenging for Shuli, who recently underwent abdominal surgery.
Monthly bills—a never-ending pressure—take precedence over other needs, including apartment
upkeep. Eventually, the ceiling sprang leaks and a putrid smell of toxic mold permeated their home.
But thanks to you, CBN Israel paid for the repairs and provided food vouchers and necessities. Shuli was exuberant and expressed her gratitude with a bright smile, saying, “It was deeply touching that CBN Israel was here to help my family!”

RESTORATION FOR OLIVIA’S BUSINESS
Helping a single mother care for her son

Olivia ran a small mill in Mexico to support herself and her 8-year-old son, Jamie. “I use flour to make and sell tortillas. I also grind corn for other people,” said Olivia.
Unfortunately, the old mill was constantly breaking down, and Olivia would struggle to pay for repairs. “Some days I can’t buy a full meal for my son. I only have enough money to buy some soup or beans,” she explained.
When CBN’s Orphan’s Promise learned about Olivia’s plight, CBN partners made it possible for us to step in. We delivered a new grinding mill to Olivia and sacks of corn for her to immediately restart the business.
“When the pickup truck came with the mill, I was so happy,” said Olivia. “Now I am going to be able to earn money to support us!”

You changed more than a life
Santi can provide for her family.
When the pandemic hit Indonesia, Santi’s food shop was forced to close, and her husband lost his job as a mechanic. How could they possibly survive? “I was really afraid I would not be able to feed my daughter,” said Santi.
When CBN’s Orphan’s Promise met Santi, we learned that she could sew. Friends like you made it possible to provide the supplies
she needed to make and sell face masks. With her earnings, Santi was able to reopen her food business as the pandemic began to ease. Santi’s store is now doing well, and she is grateful to CBN supporters for helping her family in those frightening early days of the pandemic. “May God continue to use you to help people—like you helped us,” she said.
HELPING THE HOME FRONT HELPING STUDENTS SUCCEED
CBN partners equip kids with essentials
Getting kids ready for the school year can be daunting, especially for military families with hectic schedules. But loving CBN supporters helped give schoolchildren in need a memorable send-off.
Last year, school items were provided to 25 children whose parents serve on the USS Somerset. And this year, 77 kids received much-needed backpacks.
Navy Chaplain Ed said: “We are so grateful that CBN’s Helping the Home Front also provided Bibles for each student. These backpacks not only show appreciation for those serving on the seas, but it connects faith and service—and puts the Gospel in the hands of each student.”
Gracious friends like you are making a difference in the lives of military men and women and their children. Thank you for your heartwarming generosity!

FIGHTING HUNGER IN AMERICA
CBN partners help neighbors in need
“With overall food and fuel costs up over 100 percent, along with out-of-control inflation, the growing number of families running out of money before the end of the month is quickly increasing,” said Steve O’Grady, Operation Blessing’s Vice President of Operations and Logistics.
Due to an ever-growing list of churches and ministries requesting help with food, Operation Blessing is working overtime to support the existing network due to fewer food donations and supply chain issues. “None of this is surprising to our God,” said O’Grady. “As we continue to seek Him—our Provider and the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills—His provisions will defeat this shortfall.”
Reminders of how God has used Operation Blessing in the past offer hope and encouragement as lives have been transformed by the help they received.
The Martins
The Martin* family in Virginia was living on an annual income of around $25,000. When two medical emergencies compounded the problem, the gifts of CBN partners made it possible to provide food for this struggling family of four.
The family also fell victim to crime when their home was burglarized and completely ransacked. They lost everything, including cash, appliances, toys, televisions, computers, and even
the children’s piggy banks.
Once again, Operation Blessing stepped in with groceries and household goods. Soon after, by God’s grace, the family’s situation completely turned around. The family now runs a feeding program, and they are an Operation Blessing partner ministry. The Martins are passing on the blessing they received in their time of greatest need.
Jen’s Story
Jen and her husband, Travis, were significantly affected by the pandemic and struggled with some difficult family circumstances.
Travis works at Costco, and before the pandemic, Jen was working as a chef. She grew up watching her mother cook, and making good food is an important part of her life. When the COVID-19 shutdown happened, Jen said, “Literally, it was like, ‘Put your knives down. We’re out of here.’”
While sheltering in place at home, Jen began caring for her two young granddaughters. Taking care of the girls made it impossible for her to go back to work full time when the pandemic restrictions began to ease. This put a strain on Jen and Travis’s budget, especially with the rising cost of food and extra mouths to feed.
In the midst of all the challenges, Jen learned of an Operation Blessing partner ministry near their Michigan home. They were able to begin receiving groceries
as the need arose, filling up an entire shopping cart with everything they needed for their family.
“I called, and they said, ‘Come on over!’ I shopped that day, and I was amazed,” Jen said. “I just honestly prayed all the way home and said, ‘Thank you!’ because it’s pretty amazing to be able to fill your car with good food. If you’ve got food, you feel like you still have something. You’ve got comfort. You’ve got an ability to care for people.”
This family is grateful that CBN partners provided support when they didn’t know where to turn. “It’s kind of a scary world out there,” she said. “It’s nice
to see people taking care of one another and taking care of strangers.”
Jesus said that caring for strangers was a way of ministering to Him.
Every day, CBN partners provide food, medical care, shelter, education, and more to people they will never meet in this life. And the Lord sees every cup of water given in His name as a gift to Him.

DEALING WITH BRAIN DISEASE
The long-term danger of multiple head injuries
It was once called “punch-drunk syndrome” because it often affected professional boxers. Now we know that millions of people are at risk for a disease called chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Anyone facing repeated hits to the head can be in danger—including victims of domestic abuse, those in the military, and athletes engaging in contact sports.
Dr. Lee Goldstein, medical doctor and researcher at Boston University’s CTE Center, says that “these repetitive insults to the brain accumulate, cause damage to the brain, and then trigger a neurodegenerative disease.”
Even in the absence of more hits to the head the disease can progress to dementia. But more assaults increase the likelihood of CTE disease, so it’s essential to avoid any trauma to the head if you have experienced multiple head injuries from contact sports, abuse, or military combat. Yet the problem is not only in those who have experienced a concussion. Dr. Goldstein explains, “We’ve been able to show conclusively at this point that the concussion is not a

part of the problem here. It’s the repetitive head injuries.”
Symptoms of CTE can include personality changes such as problems with impulse control, impaired judgment, and violent mood swings. But CTE can only be definitively diagnosed after death. This makes research difficult, dependent upon brain donations from likely victims.
However, Dr. Goldstein does say that his research highlights the importance of getting help for victims of domestic violence. Early intervention in the life of someone being abused can prevent the traumatic consequence of CTE disease.

QUESTIONS, HONEST ANSWERS
WITH PAT ROBERTSONI believed my sister would be healed, and she still went home to be with the Lord. Why does God sometimes not answer your prayer after you’ve done everything that the Word says to do?
A Q
The Bible says, Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints (Psalm 116:15 kjv ). Why would you keep your sister from the joy of the Lord? If she was sick, perhaps it was her time to be with Him.
I’m moving along at 92. I’m trying to stay. But at the same time, being with the Lord is not a bad thing. And heaven is a wonderful place. Do we miss those who’ve departed? Of course, we do. Is there sadness? Yes. But we must surrender them to the Lord, then move on with life.

HOW TO ACTIVATE MUSTARD-SEED FAITH
The gospel of Christ is the power of God.
by G ordon r obertson President and CEOIf you don’t think you have giant faith, don’t worry! Jesus says in Matthew 17:20 that we only need a mustard seed. I like to tell people that I don’t have great faith—I just know some great facts.
Jesus was born in humble circumstances and lived a sinless life. He was baptized by John the Baptist, who announced, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
Jesus only had three years of ministry and didn’t travel far, yet He astounded everyone. He healed all who came to Him and forgave anyone who asked. He saw the faith of those lowering a man who was paralyzed down through the roof and forgave his sins. Then—so they’d know He had that power—He said, “Arise” (Matthew 9:6). And the man walked.
The Lamb of God was crucified for our sins, was raised from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the
Father, where, Hebrews 7:25 says, He is always interceding for us.
These are the facts. Romans 1:16 declares, The gospel of Christ … is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. When you announce the Good News, the Word is in you. In John 6:33, Jesus tells us His words are spirit and life. So when we speak His Word, you and I can release the anointing and reveal Him through our words. And Romans 10:17 promises, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
All the experiences I’ve had, the times I’ve stumbled and He has raised me up, the things He has delivered and healed me from—all this is the word of my testimony. And the same is true for you. So remember, His Word in your mouth is powerful! It builds faith and breaks bondages. God bless you!
