HOPE REKINDLED

Caring partners are making a difference for military families in need

Joshua, a Navy corpsman, often went away for months. His wife, Ashleigh, cared for their family at home—without a car.

Their challenges multiplied when their pending home sale in the state of Washington fell through due to unexpected repairs. This left the two financially strained and unable to provide for their family.

Amid the struggles, their faith sustained them. When their church intervened by partnering with CBN’s Helping the Home Front, the couple was overjoyed. CBN stepped in to

help meet living costs and provide reliable transportation in their time of need.

Joshua expressed gratitude for the blessings they received. He shared, “I can’t even begin to explain how much of a blessing it is to be able to have a way to transport our whole family.”

As they drove off, the future looked brighter. Just a few months later, their house sold, which helped put their finances back in order.

Ashleigh said gratefully, “This is a huge blessing to our family. Thank you so much for everything!”

“We have to rebuild”

Living on a kibbutz near Gaza, Adele Raemer was familiar with the sound of rockets exploding nearby. But she’d never heard the sound of gunfire outside her window— until October 7, 2023. Hamas terrorists invaded Israel and slaughtered about 1,200 people, including five members of her community. Five other neighbors were kidnapped and taken to Gaza. During the massacre, she and her son huddled in their safe room, said they loved each other, and prepared to die. Eleven hours later, they were finally evacuated out of the war zone.

Adele shared her harrowing story at a recent chapel service hosted by Gordon Robertson on the campus shared by CBN and Regent University. “People in my community always pined for peace,” she said. “We held our hands out to our neighbors however we could.” As

a teacher, Adele did educational projects with Gazans and helped drive them to Israeli hospitals if they needed medical care.

“We worked so hard to build bridges,” she continued. “But Hamas has done such an excellent job of educating an entire generation to hate us.”

Before the attacks, Adele called her region “95 percent heaven.” There, the desert blooms and has become the breadbasket of Israel, with innovations in agriculture and industry. Although her community has been displaced, she says she will go back. “We have to rebuild. If you give up on our region, you give up on Israel. So that’s my mission now.”

Yaretzy’s Story of Survival

Yaretzy, a new mother, found herself facing the wrath of a Category 5 hurricane in Acapulco, Mexico. As the storm raged outside, she clung to her newborn and

prayed for their safety. When the winds finally ceased, Yaretzy, her husband, and two sons emerged to a scene of devastation. With their home destroyed and provisions scarce, this family of four faced uncertainty.

However, thanks to the unwavering generosity of friends like you, Operation Blessing arrived on the scene. The family received critical assistance, including a new roof, essential supplies, and even toys. All of this brought relief and gratitude to their hearts.

“Thank you to the people who support Operation Blessing!” said a grateful Yaretzy.

Robert’s Miraculous Escape

Robert, a veteran and widower, feared for his life when a tornado bore down on his camper in his hometown of Wapakoneta, Ohio. In a moment of divine

intervention, he awoke and fled, narrowly escaping the destruction that followed.

“I feel like it was a miracle because, had I been home, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here now,” Robert explained.

Thanks to steadfast supporters, Operation Blessing provided shelter and meals for Robert and others who were displaced by the disaster. His gratitude overflowed as he reflected on the support he had received.

He added, “I can’t be thankful enough for everything you guys have done. … I thank God for you.”

Mimi’s Struggle for Water

A news report from The Associated Press stated that “a cluster of earthquakes struck the island of Taiwan … the strongest having a magnitude of 6.1, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.”*

Mimi, a grandmother living with an extended family of 20, faced the aftermath of this devastating tragedy in Hualien, Taiwan. She shared, “I didn’t know what to do because the ground kept shaking and the children were crying.”

Returning home, she discovered her water tank was irreparably damaged, leaving her family without a vital resource.

Then, something amazing happened. You helped make it possible for Operation Blessing to supply new water tanks for survivors like Mimi—offering them a glimmer of hope amid the wreckage.

FREEDOM Through Sacrifice

I feel blessed by God to live in a country that promises freedom of religion, expression, movement, association, and more. Without the sacrifices of those who fought in the Revolutionary War, and in other wars, we might not have all of these rights today!

That’s why I love celebrating Independence Day—to remember and honor those who risked their lives for our freedom. Remembering and honoring their sacrifice always points me back to Christ. Jesus Himself said, There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13 nlt).

As Christians, we have liberties that have been provided through Jesus’ sacrifice. So, this Independence Day, let us also celebrate the following freedoms that have been granted to us as followers of Christ:

As His followers, we are free from fear, worry, and anxiety (John 14:27; Matthew 10:31; 2 Timothy 1:7).

We are free from condemnation (John 3:16; Romans 3:23-24; Romans 10:9-10).

We are free to come to God and be in His presence (Hebrews 10:19; Matthew 11:28-30; John 6:37).

We are free to pray and bring our concerns to God (Philippians 4:5-7; Mark 11:24; Romans 8:26).

We are free from the shame and guilt of our sins (Isaiah 1:18; 1 John 1:9; Hebrews 8:12).

Father God, we are so thankful for the sacrifices others have made to protect the freedoms that we can enjoy in the United States. We pray that we never take those blessings for granted. Please help us never forget that our greatest freedom is the freedom from death and sin that You provided on the cross.

How long does it take for the Lord to forgive a sin?

As long as it takes for you to believe it. Your sins were forgiven 2,000 years ago when Jesus died on a cross. He has already forgiven you; the issue is with you. Once you have confessed your sins to the Lord, do you believe that Jesus has forgiven you? When you do, you walk into some wonderful things.

Psalm 103:2-5 says, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s ( esv ).

And John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” ( kjv ). So become a “whosoever”—one who believes in Him. And you will not perish, but have eternal life.

IT’S TIME TO PRAY, AMERICA!

More than ever before, we need to pray for the United States. There’s no doubt that our nation urgently needs God’s mercy, grace, guidance, and healing. We need a revival of His Word and His Spirit across our land. And the key to revival is always prayer.

When the first permanent English settlers sailed to the New World, their journey across the Atlantic was long and difficult. During that arduous winter crossing, the colonists had sharp disagreements and dangerous divisions. Their chaplain, the Rev. Robert Hunt, witnessed it all.

So when they finally anchored off Cape Henry, Virginia, Chaplain Hunt would not let them disembark until they had a time of fasting and repentance. Only then did they go ashore, plant a cross, have a prayer meeting, and dedicate this land to God. It was a defining moment in the history of our nation.

Let’s go back to that commitment and examine ourselves. Is there anything in

our lives where we’re not evidencing virtue? Are we loving our neighbor as ourselves?

Remember, our God is not the government. When Jesus comes back, He’s not coming to take sides; He’s coming to take over. The question for each of us today is, has He taken over me? Am I an ambassador of His kingdom? Am I submitting my thoughts, my words, and my deeds to His guidance?

Let’s join with the prayers of those settlers. They were not perfect, just like we are not. We must be willing to turn from anything that keeps us from God. When we ask Him to be Lord over every part of our lives, we have a very bright future. His mercies are new every morning, His love endures forever, and He wants to bless His children. God will come to us, have mercy on us, and heal us.
