Dear Partner

WE ARE PRIVILEGED TO PARTER WITH YOU

Ian Walton, CBN Southern Africa Director

OUR MESSAGE |

Welcome to our 4th issue of Frontlines for 201 7! I am so excited to try and convey a sense of all the things that we are privileged to be involved in as the CBN Team here in Southern Africa at the moment! Even since the last Partner magazine was sent, we’ve had some really significant breakthroughs and opportunities:

• PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) registration was granted

to CBN SA after almost 1 8 months of prayer, persistence and patience around this. Our PBO number now allows South African individuals and businesses to donate to us as a tax deduction. • CBN Humanitarian Special Project: We were privileged to carry out the wishes of a CBN donor by providing food to 650 families for 30-45 days in drought-stricken Lesotho. The muchneeded food was distributed to the families with the help of a local partner church, and following this act of kindness we are aware of 3 people in this grateful community who accepted Christ for the first time. We are also now able to take this to the next level through the donation of a 700 Club Partner - next month a well will be drilled by CBN in partnership with the same local church! • The appointment of our first Superbook Manager: With her marketing background, her passion and experience with development and her love for kids, Yolanda Magida is strategically positioned to multiply CBN’s amazing children’s ministry tool across our region! • Involvement in multiple Holiday Clubs , where Superbook episodes were featured and Gizmo made guest appearances! • “Prayer-enting” workshop: The heart behind our "Prayerenting" morning was equipping, encouraging and inspiring families into a space of daily prayer and devotion to Jesus. We hope to make this a regular event going forward! In the second half of this year, we are already anticipating: • Superbook on SABC and TBN in Africa, as well as some other big stations outside of SA. • Superbook DVD’s easily available for purchase across the region, and the launch of Superbook Academy (for churches). • In our Hands (premier CBN documentary) available on various broadcasters and possibly for purchase on DVD. • Many local “Stories of Grace” produced and online. • Increased CBN Humanitarian projects, especially here in SA. • More evangelism and ministry events on the ground, and in partnership with local churches. We count it a privilege to stand alongside you in this work. Call or message our prayer line if we can lend some support to you through prayer, and feel free to contact me with any feedback, suggestions or stories. It is always great to hear from you. We are in this exciting mission together - on the air, on the ground and online! Ian Regional Director, CBN Southern Africa 01

LIVING FOR THE GLORY OF GOD

TEACHI NG |

Our culture takes pride in our learning, technology, military, and wealth. Yet God says, “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches” (Jeremiah 9:23). Instead, He tells us: “Let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight” (v. 24). When we understand and know God—and when we exercise His attributes in our own lives—He guides us through every situation. The first attribute He names is lovingkindness— that wonderful covenant love He has toward His people. And this is love: That while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). We didn’t think of salvation; it was His idea to redeem us. When I was dying of cerebral malaria years ago, I learned something that I wouldn’t trade for any other experience. I had to surrender to God completely and learn that—no matter what we face—He is Lord, and all His acts are lovingkindness. We can trust Him even when we don’t understand our circumstances. God says in Zechariah 1 3:9, “I … will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested.” How is this accomplished? In the fire. When we are under pressure, any sinful attitudes in our hearts are exposed. God uses these times to refine us and set us free from anger and bitterness. He cleanses us so we can have a right spirit. We want

everything within us to be acceptable in His sight. The purpose of our struggles is to refine us. He wants to bring forth silver and gold. God then says: "They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; and each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God’” (v. 9). Our relationship with God is precious to Him; is it precious to us? When God gave instructions for the Feast of Pentecost, called the Feast of Weeks, the only offering required was the peace offering. It was an offering made by fire—not made because of guilt, but to fellowship in God’s presence. Leviticus 9:22-24 records that when Aaron made the first offerings on the altar of the Holy

"The purpose of our struggles is to refine us. He wants to bring forth silver and gold." Place, fire came down from the Lord to consume the sacriffices. Significantly, on the Day of Pentecost, tongues of fire came down from heaven and settled on the believers (see Acts 2:3). That fire is still burning today—For our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 1 2:29). The more we know Him and yield to Him, the more we can give Him glory and walk in a manner worthy of our calling. God bless you. Scripture is quoted from the NKJV. This teaching was given during a CBN staff chapel.

CARING FOR THE ELDERLY

One of our CBN Humanitarian supported organisations is Samaritans. Which is involved with various projects.

At Red Cross Elandsvlei, they focus on frail care for the elderly and depend on donations to fulfil that service of love. More and more elderly are abandoned and have nowhere to go, especially the ones with special needs. Through this project, they are being cared for and loved.

04

ON THE GROUND |

Ebenezer, our Orphan's Promise project in Mpumalanga, not only provides assistance to the vulnerable children of the area, but also a safe haven for the elderly. Basic needs such as a place to stay, daily meals and medical care are placed within the reach of some of the elderly folk in the area.

"Take care of any widow who Thank you CBN Partners! has no one else to care for her. But if she has children or Your support enables us to reach grandchildren, their first out to vulnerable people and responsibility is to show godliness at home and repay children around the world. To help further, visit their parents by taking care of them. This is something that www.cbnsa.org pleases God." - 1 Timothy 5:3-4 or call (021) 701 1776 05

CBN SA ATTENDED THE ACM CONFERENCE 201 7

During the month of May our director Ian Walton as well as HR & Finance manager Anne-Lize Groesbeek from CBN SA represented CBN Africa at the ACM conference in Durban. Ian had the opportunity to present a workshop entitled “Missional Media and Online Opportunity”. The conference coordinator gave us some feedback: “A huge thank you to you for doing a workshop at the conference. I have had positive feedback from delegates and, looking at the evaluation forms, I think that delegates found it very useful.” In addition, CBN was unexpectedly awarded 2nd place for the Superbook Gospel Presentation (with regional customisation). The Campus Crusade for Christ Award for promoting Evangelism and Discipleship is awarded to the organisation

who has made a concerted effort to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to promote discipleship initiatives to communities in South Africa during the course of 201 6 . Natalie Turco, on behalf of the ACM Board said, “I would like to give special mention to the exceptional organisation that came a close second. CBN South Africa impressed the judges with their online Superbook Gospel Presentation. This initiative meets children at their level and brings the Gospel to them visually and practically”. It is great to be engaging with organisations out there who have the same goal in furthering the Kingdom of God in this region, where we can all support one another and grow in our effectiveness. We were grateful for the opportunity to be there! 07

Two of our staff members were able to attend the 'It is Time' national prayer meeting on the 22nd April 201 7. As well as when Angus led us in prayer everyone was on their knees! We were glad to be part one of the largest prayer meetings in the world." See more on our Facebook Page.

BRING IT ON

Pat Robertson answers your questions

Q

The Bible says in Matthew 6:15 that if you do not forgive others, then God will not forgive your transgressions. So does that mean if a believer dies with an unforgiving spirit towards others, God will not forgive his sins—and he cannot enter heaven?

A I don’t think that’s what the verse means.

Do you have a question for Pat? Visit

CBN.com/Bring ItOnline and

follow the instructions.

However, if you want access to the power of God and if you want access to the anointing of His Holy Spirit, you must be in a constant state of being born again. And in order to be born again, you have to have your sins forgiven. Remember, Jesus said if you’re asking the heavenly Father to forgive you, you must have the same attitude in your heart towards others. This is an important thing. Otherwise, you will cut off the power of God in your own life. I’m not in a position to speak on eternal judgment regarding whether you’ll go to hell or not. But I will say this: if you want to enjoy the privileges of His anointed children, you must forgive each and every person who wronged you. There’s no other way around it. 17
