OUR MESSAGE |
Happy New (ish) Year! “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are NEW every morning…” Lamentations 3:22 I know by the time you read this we will all be well into 2019 already. I hope it has been really good for you so far! As always, the beginning of another year carries with it the chance to reimagine the old and to try the new. It allows us the opportunity to re-think, to shoot for new goals and to restart with new determination. But for many of us the ‘newness’ of the New Year will have already lost a lot of its shine. Maybe circumstances have really been against you in the last few weeks. Maybe you’ve not had the blessing of energy and health you were counting on. Or maybe you’ve just not been as disciplined as you hoped. If any of that describes your year so far, it’s understandable at this stage to just let things slide. It’s understandable to default to the ordinary and the mediocre, hoping for a better start to next year. Yes, it’s understandable – but you’re made for so much more!

Your Father’s mercies are new for you today, no matter how long it is since New Year’s Day and how many resolutions you have already abandoned. He has life-giving new words for you today (if you will listen). He has a brand new song for you to sing today (are you singing?). He has new hope to breathe into you today by the power of His Spirit. But you must want to receive them from your Father, and you must prepare yourself to receive them. “And no one puts NEW wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins – and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But NEW wine is for NEW wineskins.” Mark 2:22 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the reNEWing of your mind…” Romans 12:2 There is precious new wine available for us today. We need to position ourselves to receive it humbly – by grace, without striving and with thanks. It will mature inside of us and the fresh wineskin of our renewed minds will stretch as we are made more like Jesus. Ian Regional Director, CBN Southern Africa

The Birth Of GRACE
We beheld His glory... full of grace and truth. By Gordon Robertson, Chief Executive Officer | 02
FEATURE |
Where does grace begin? It comes from Jesus. John’s Gospel says: The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. … And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:14, 16-17). The Apostle Peter tells us that grace is the beginning of the Christian walk: As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious (1 Peter 2:2-3). His personal experience of the Lord’s graciousness led him to write this. Consider how Peter felt after Jesus’ death and resurrection. He had denied the Lord three times and probably felt unfit to be an apostle. But what does Jesus do? He comes to Peter and asks three times if he loves Him—negating every one of Peter’s denials. This is grace in action, and this is the moment that creates the Apostle Peter. Instead of berating him, Jesus challenges him to move forward, to go higher, and to do what he thought he could not do anymore. When Peter thinks he is disqualified, Jesus says, “My grace can overcome all of this. I have important work for you to do. You have a destiny and a calling.”
ity from a legalistic standpoint, we will never understand the truth of God’s grace. We can’t think enough good thoughts or do enough good deeds to earn His favor. This is why Paul underlines it in every letter, and why he recalls Jesus’ words to him in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Understanding grace makes the difference between losing heart and bearing fruit in ministry. God calls each of us to stand in His presence, and He also calls us to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth. To do this, we must put aside all human striving and hold fast to His high calling, which is to turn many from darkness to light—to the living God. For it is His grace that makes this possible. God bless you.
This teaching was given during a CBN staff chapel. Scripture is taken from the NKJV.
This is God’s manifold grace: He has worked out good things for us to walk into. It is not because He needs us, but because we need His grace. If we come to Christian-

Letter from the Superbook Desk Last year came to a close incredibly quickly! 2018 was a really good year for Superbook. We have launched into new grounds with our Superbook Mzansi social media pages, getting churches to try out our curriculum and most importantly the Mama Magic Expo targeting parents. The Mama Magic Expo to me was the highlight of the year purely because of the space we get to have to influence parents. We are hoping to expand our territory even more in 2019 by continuing to engage and framing discourses around the importance of fostering spiritual formation in children and resources available to assist in this. Spiritual formation is a process in which one becomes more Christlike nature and we would love to assist parents in disci| 10

This year we will be launching Superbook Clubs in various communities where we take kids through a set Superbook programme based on our Sunday School Curriculum. We are hoping to raise Superbook Champions who will become change agents in their communities. We appreciate continued support in prayer as God opens more opportunity for the Gospel to reach children. Wishing everyone a blessed and fruitful year ahead!

Superbook Testimonies: “I saw the animation on YouTube, I was looking for animation for pentecost to teach the kids in Sunday School, and I realized that it’s only Superbook that has it precisely correct as the Bible recorded. So I started checking all Superbook animation on youtube and realised that they are more precise in their Biblical stories than others. So I will be so grateful if there is a place I can buy them.” Angel “I went to a ladies camp two weekends ago, and was SO surprised to meet a lady there who uses our Superbook series and App for her 3 children on a daily basis! The kids play the games as a treat on the family iPad and she was raving about Superbook. She said it is the most incredible tool to use, especially as a Home School Mom. My kids love Superbook and I’d encourage you to connect with the Homeschool networks.” - Kate, CBN Communications Manager

True Love True love, is utterly, totally and absolutely impossible without the presence of God.

Whether you are married, dating or single, Valentine’s Day rolls around annually, whether you’re ready for it or not! This is the time of year where people feel extra encouraged to look for or reminisce on what we may call true love. This particular celebration represent so much to so many different people.
can
It can be a reminder of loneliness or the death of a spouse or someone close to our hearts. This unique time can also be an exciting time of a new, fresh relationship with that sweetheart you’ve been eyeing out in the third row at church for so long. On the other hand, Valentine’s Day can also just bring about some kind of frustration about the fact that we have yet another commercially devoted day to deal with. Or people may just see this as another normal day with no reason to fling around cheesy pink and red hearted junk food. I guess from my perspective, Valentine’s Day can be either of the above depending on where you are at. However, if I think about it from a Christian perspective, we should love regardless of the date.
I am going to say something that might challenge your thinking… True love, is utterly, totally and absolutely impossible without the presence of God. If we don’t know God, we have not yet encountered what it really means to be fully loved. If this is a foreign concept
to us, then to fully love in return is equally as challenging. I think of 1 John 4:7, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” Scripture also tells us in Psalm 16:11 about what happens in the presence of God - “...the fullness of joy! and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Phew, now that we’ve said that, let me go a bit deeper... The reason we cannot love without God is that God IS love. We see this in 1 John 4:16 which says, “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” God’s love for us, is why He chose to create us in His own image, He wants us to be love carriers who are able to love Him in return and also who are able to love His children who have not yet experienced true love. This Valentine’s Day, we challenge you to be that love carrier that God created you to be but to do so from this day forward, and for the rest of your life, no matter what date the world may be celebrating. Let’s renew this expectation and experience of true love and show the world where it all comes from!

Your questions, with honest answers by Pat Robertson
Q: Please help me to understand Isaiah 26:3 which says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
Pat Robertson
Founder of The Christian Broadcasting Network
Do you have a question for Pat? Log on to CBN. com/BringItOnline and follow the instructions to submit your question.
A: Where are your thoughts most of the time? Are they usually on your marriage, your relationship with others, or your image? Are your thoughts primarily on what people think about you, or do you try your best to always think about God? He’ll keep you in perfect peace when you keep your mind centered on Him. There’s a saying, “All the world’s a stage and everyone’s a player.” When you walk across the stage of your mind, who is the audience you’re trying to make an impression on? Your thought should be that you have an audience of one, and that audience is God. Your focus should be to please Him in what you do, what you think, and what you say. In turn, He will bless you with peace of mind and heart.
