nce again, it’s time for the California Rendezvous Bike Show. The biggest bike show in the valley! This will be the event’s 18th year! Bikers all over the valley will gather at the Madera Fairgrounds for a day of bad ass bikes, cold beer, hot food and even hotter women!
price of admission alone.
Koyote from 95.7 the Fox radio station and Sandra “Smoothness” Chaney are the master and mistress of ceremonies. They make the wild, fun parts of the day happen. Dozens of smoking hot Playboy models participate in stage games and contests. Always popular are the weenie bite, bikini contest, pickle licking, and wet T-shirt contest! Ladies love the Mr. Bad Ass contest and some even enter their man to compete for this title and trophy.
They can take any bike to the next level. Also receiving an achievement award is bike painter Kyle Gann of K-Daddyz Kustomz in Bakersfield. What Kyle does with some paint and an airbrush is amazing and he is truly an artist for the biking industry. Several other noteworthy builders and artisans will be there to exhibit their best work.
The Amateur Wheelie Contest is a crowd favorite. Anyone can join the fun of standing it up for cash prizes. Riders come from all over the state to compete. This contest smashes taillights and gets the testosterone pumping. Video from this event gets thousands of hits Hundreds of custom bikes en- and shares on social media for ter the ride-in bike show. The stereo thump off contest pits the best motorcycle sound systems against each other. The event really gets bumpin’ while models dance around during the competition. Think your pipes are loud? Loud pipes save lives and the loud pipe contest really brings this event to life. This is a “fingers in your ears” contest while the decibel level climbs to record highs. Both the stereo thump off and loud pipes winners will be given trophies, cash prizes and big bragging rights. Anyone can enter their bike in these competitions.
Two off the hook stunt shows by Jason Pullen and Robyn Diamond will blow your mind. Jason Pullen, a motorcycle stunt master performs stunts on a full size Harley Davidson motorcycle. “It gives the audience a real thrill to see one of my Harleys doing stunts normally done by bikes half the size.” Robyn Diamond has been stunt riding for over 6 years and puts on a great show proving that “Girls Ride Too.” Robyn and Jason love to take pictures with fans Live music on the Main Stage between performances. Rumble Ride for Eric Leoni was the next stop on the agenda and forty more riders were waiting there to join the rumble. Folks rested, socialized with old friends over coffee and enjoyed shopping through the awesome merchandise up there in the Village. From there a beautiful, twisted ride through the mountain brought the pack of bikers to the Buckhorn saloon in North Fork, CA. Here drinks and laughter were on the menu as everyone stretched their legs, drew another poker card and caught their aturday April 14th, 2018 tle, the showing of independent breath before setting off for the brought a sunny day to host riders and clubs alike meet at last stop. the charity poker run for Eric Brown’s Bar & Grill in Riverdale The Roadhouse in Clovis was the Leoni and a large group of bik- at 8:00 am to register for the pok- destination for Eric Leoni’s Rumers showed up to lend their sup- er run. Classic rock n roll by the band L-Train provided entertainment and kept the crowd dancing through the afternoon heat. A bike show and contest was held with an Indian Motorcycle taking the top prize in show and the winning poker hand was a flush. In the end there was a lot of fun, a few emotional moments and a lot of good stories. All involved are good hearted, selfless people that only want to help. Both the winner of the 50/50 raffle and the poker hand immediately donated their winnings to the family and its those types of gestures that make it an honor to be a part of an event like this. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Leoni family.

Fun in Our Own Backyard
L
ooking for a nice day trip? Nothing too strenuous, just a nice relaxing ride? Or a quick camping trip? Yosemite is right in our backyard, and the ride up there is amazing. Leaving Fresno as you head north on Highway 41 traffic can be a little hectic, but once you pass the money pit (aka Chukchansi Casino) it thins right out.
A few miles past Sugar Pine you’ll reach Fish Camp, the last town before you reach Yosemite. The price to get into the park on a motorcycle is $25.00 (increasing to $30.00 after June 1, 2018), and As you venture on up the hill, in a car is $30.00 (increasing to the oaks start to give way to pine $35.00 after June 1). After you trees, and you’ll eventually reach pass through the gate at the South the little community of Sugar Pine. You can stop to have a drink or meal and donate to the local Native Americans at the casino, or you can hit any of the other interesting spots in Coarsegold. If all you’re looking for is a drink, there’s no better place than the Dirty Donkey Tavern. (Just a warning, they only accept cash, no debit or credit.) You can also poke around in the antique shops in Coarsegold’s Historic Village, or take a stroll through the Histor- gauge railroad with two operating ical Society and Museum and see steam train locomotives. Once you get to Oakhurst days when giant trees were cut there are plenty of places to eat and hauled by these same trains and drink, and some attractions to the river, where they were sent that are off the beaten path. Fres- downstream.
Some of the more interesting sights are the Tunnel View, where you can see Half Dome and El Capitan in all their glory; Bridalveil Falls, which is absolutely stunning when the water is high; Tuolumne Meadows, which are usually lush and green even in the middle of summer; or Yosemite Valley itself, where it’s not unusual to see bear, deer or other wildlife wandering
among the vehicles. You can spend all day riding, taking in the sights, and still not see it all. Make sure your phone is fully charged and be ready to take tons of photos! As you prepare to head back to Fresno, the ride along the Merced River on El Portal Road is beautiful. You’ll exit through the Arch Rock gate, then take Highway 140 through Midpines and Mariposa, where you can pick up dinner and a cold beer before heading to Highway 49, a curvy two lane road with some amazing views. (A word of caution: you’ll probably come across critters such as deer or raccoons crossing this road, so please use caution!) You’ll go through the communities of Bootjack and Ahwahnee, both of which used to be mining towns, before arriving back at Highway 41 in Oakhurst. Then it’s the drive back to reality, unfortunately. So the next time you’ve got a day off and are wondering where to go, remember: we have an amazing playground like Yosemite and the surrounding areas right in our backyard!
