14th Annual 2024 “Central Coast Classic” Motorcycle Show

San Luis Obispo, CA — The 14th Annual “Central Coast Classic” Motorcycle Show was held on Saturday October 19th, 2024, and is one of my favorite non-CMA led runs we attend as a group and participate in. We had 25 bikes / trikes, and 23 riders & passengers gathered up on a beautiful, crisp sunny day ready to rumble together over the coastal hills into the quaint town of San Luis Obispo. Arise Central Coast Church is the host church for this event, nestled up in the lush green foothills adjacent to The Madonna Inn on Highway 101.

Our CMA combined groups rallied at Clovis Dennys early to meet, and S&SR Road Captain Levi mapped out the ride itinerary, ready to lead us over to the coast via Highway 41, 46, 101/46, turning off on 46 once again to wander through the beautiful Wine Country on our way towards Highway 1. We had multiple CMA Central Valley Chapters in attendance, including Clovis, Hanford, Yosemite and Atascadero members. I love it when our fellow Chapter brothers and sisters can get together and spend some quality time traveling on the road together!

As our journey began, we picked up several friends

along the way to our coastal destination. Our first stop was Lemoore to pick up a few Hanford and Tulare friends to join us. We had to first repair a flat tire on our newer riders’ new bike that was discovered when we arrived there. Two members had tire Fix-ItKits to repair the screw that was embedded in the tire and then we were off. Next stop was Paso Robles, where we picked up a dozen or more brothers and sisters from Atascadero and the surrounding area. It was great to be reunited with dear friends

and make acquaintances with new friends coming along on our journey.

After gassing up, our now large group rumbled south along Highway 101, and hopped off on scenic Highway 46, traveling through the beautiful Wine Country towards the coast. At Highway 1, we headed south along the gentle curves of the most beautiful scenic real estate known as the Central Coast of California. The smell of

So many of us dream dreams but never truly believe that they can come true

Climb aboard and together we will strive to make all our dreams come true

It does not matter how small or how big your dreams are the crew of “the train of dreams” is here to encourage you and to help you achieve your goals and dreams

First thing that we all need to do is to actually write down our goals and dreams in a journal

Second is to find pictures that portray our dreams so that we can look at them often

Every day we need to journal something that we are thankful for this will help keep us on a positive track. Be sure to share your goals and dreams with the crew & other members of “train of dreams”

The concept of “the train of dreams” was conceived as a result of the need of branding

Many entrepreneurs believe that brandings are extremely important to the success of a business

What is branding you ask branding is kind of like a logo that is specific to your business    a symbol that when people see it they think of your business

Like the “big red circle with a big red dot in the center” or the  “polar bear with the soda bottle in its paw”   “ the eagle”

There are many brands out there that we know exactly what business is attached “the train of dreams” may not be limited to a particular business although the crew is The concept of the train lends to all entrepreneurs and welcomes them to hitch their car to it with the train of dreams the crew hopes to give you the encouragement and maybe some tools you can use to achieve your wildest dream

the ocean filled our nostrils, and the crisp, chilly coastal breezes reminded us that we had arrived at a truly wonderful place of God’s creation. This annual event started at 10am and we arrived sometime after 1:00pm. As always, I want to get a group picture before everyone heads off to enjoy the show. After that, everyone checks out the many vintage motorcycles on display and some enjoyed the delicious Taco Truck cuisine that was there. There were many stock bikes restored to better than new and some

that have been left alone to age into a wonderful “patina” that you can get only once. We also enjoyed some wild cool custom bikes, both for racing and some just cruising. The event also has a great motorcycle swap meet to buy rare bike parts not readily found anymore - there was something for everyone.

After an hour or so of the event, some riders headed north to Morro Bay for some lunch together before leaving the coastal area, while others headed home after enjoying the show

Hurricane Helene

Where to start… I am writing this on Oct 4, deeply convicted. On Sept 27,2024 (the day this should have been written, Hurricane Helene hit my hometown of Tryon, NC, 5 hours from the nearest coastline, 8 hours from where cat4 hurricane made landfall. While Helene was only a tropical storm by the time it reached us, it dumped as much as 31 inches of rain in the surrounding areas.

Our waterways were already at flood levels before the storm hit. The past week was a blur. The first 2 days I spent locked in my house due to fallen trees, by the 3rd day I was able to get to town, and able to get my first glimpse of just how bad things were.  Being completely cutoff with no power, phone, internet, none of us had a clue how bad things were.  While we were trying to source food/water,

just 20 minutes away people were fighting for their lives, if they hadn’t already lost them. The community began to rally together like nothing I’ve seen… faith, politics, color, race, sex. Nothing separated us anymore. Once the news spread, supplies began to pour in. Thousands of people put their lives on hold to contribute to the effort of getting help to those that needed it most. I had the honor of being able to help in the effort. I say honor simply because of the beauty of the things I was witness to. Yes, there was devastation

everywhere, but love far outweighed the destruction.  If love were measured as a hurricane, we had a full on category 5 outpouring.

I am writing this in tears, to the sounds of supply helicopters flying overhead. I don’t know how to convey what I’m feeling in words.  I’m agonizing over how to share the conviction I feel.

I have witnessed acres of farmland that were under 4 feet of water.  All the crops laid flat by the weight of the dried silt and mud covering them. Clothes and random possessions scattered in the tops of 100’s of trees. Random bits and pieces   of people’s homes and businesses littering the dry areas of the riverbed. Forest turned into mangled piles of fallen trees. There were towns completely wiped off the face of the earth, nothing remaining. The entire world covered in a light brown dusting of earlier destruction up river, I’m reminded of Genesis 3:19 Till you return to the ground you were taken, For dust you and to dust you shall return, out of it .

These areas were returned to just that.  Dust covered everything that remained.

But while I witnessed these things I witnessed something else Hundreds of people all over the area, working tirelessly laying down their lives for their brethren.

Far to often we take the term “Lay down your live” to mean death. Jesus calls to us to “die” to self..“ to “Love”… to love our neighbor as ourselves... but even more to love our enemies the same

way.  I got to witness people doing exactly that. Here I go to tears again.  I am not crying over the reminiscences of the tragedy, or the outpouring of love... but because of the conviction currently on my heart.  This should be the way we conduct ourselves EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! What does that even look like??? I don’t know DO YOU? I have been on the biggest emotional rollercoaster of my life the past few days.

I’ve been exhausted, sad, overjoyed, depressed, impressed, shocked, relieved, but mostly I have been loved... and seen love.

Why does it take a catastrophe to bring us here?  I don’t know —  Do You?

I do not know how to apply this help here and there isn’t laying down my life for the breather.   I am commanded to lay down my life by taking up my cross daily.    If I have learned one thing since the 27th is this... I take command WAY TOO LIGHTLY... DO YOU ?????

P.S.  On Thursday Oct. 3rd the power to my house was restored,  at this moment we still do not have water. But I am overly blessed Dear Loving Father, Forgive us.  Amen.

to get home before it gets dark. There were three of us who decided to stay overnight in SLO and return home afterwards the next day. The three of us spent some quality family time on Saturday evening with my awesome brother-in-law Brandt Clarke and my dear sister Melany

that were camping at Morro Bay near the beach that weekend. They invited us (John Musgrave from our Chapter, Ken Chapple from my LVCC church and myself) over for a full course tri-tip BBQ homecooked dinner and then a relaxing walk on the beach. We all enjoyed some tall tales and the playful ribbing of one another over a cozy fire pit, while enjoying a beautiful

ocean sunset. A perfect way to end a great adventure!

As our Chapter’s President (Sword and Shield Riders of Clovis), it warms my heart and truly gives me hope that the future looks very bright as I see all the wonderful brother and sisters in Christ who join up and travel together on the adventures we share. Each person in our CMA chapters and our multitude of riding friends are

very special to me, and I truly cherish these awesome times of travelling and fellowship. I personally invite you and your friends to join us on our next rides coming up this winter, we would love to get to know you and ride together. May the Lord Bless you and keep you safe and healthy!!!
