nirvana. Nary a car to be seen as we rode through the sage and brush landscape. Connected with G14, the Interlake Rd, to the Bee Rock Store. Almost there, a herd of elk were on the side of the road but paid us no never mind.
JANUARY 2025
44th Annual SLO County Toy Run
Nov 30 - Dec 1, 2024 — What a great ride! The six of us (me, LA, Sheri, Dana, Lulu and Nathan) were on our way to the SLO County Toy Run and decided to take the scenic route. We left Fresno about 10 am to let the Valley fog rise, which it did near Coalinga. At the gas stop, we shucked off the extra gear and prepared for a fun ride through the sweepers of the Diablo Hills. The road surface on 198 to Hwy 1 was smooth and we could take the turns at speed. Had lunch at the Wild Horse Cafe in King City; a biker-friendly Mom ‘n Pop place with great comfort food. A short ride south on the 101 and we got off on the twisty, one-lane back road to Lockwood which is a motorcycle riders
Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by two charming hostesses who poured us some cold ones and enjoyed some real central coast hospitality. We headed south around Lake Nacimiento, crossed the dam and were treated to blazing Fall foliage on full display. Down Chimney Rock Rd, saw a few deer as we connected with Adelaida Rd. Watch that tight turn onto Vineyard Dr where some of the area’s magnificent “castles” reside (wineries). Only a handful of cars
were seen this entire route till we hit Hwy 46 to the coast. The sun was setting under a dark cloud cover and the winds whipped us on top of the big hill. A quick stop in Cayucus and we were back on Hwy 1 till Dana pulled us over to get the iconic shot at the Pismo Beach sign lit at night. We returned the next morning to get a shot we
could see. Checked in at our condo in Oceano, walked over to Old Juan’s for dinner with a side trip to the liquor store and called it a night. Sunday, we awoke to a warm, sunny day; perfect weather for the Toy Run. Keeping with the theme Toy Run Continued on page 7

Happy New Year 2025 By Richard Tilley I am hopeful that 2025 will be a good year for America. A year where we have less fighting in Politics. A year where we are not seeing so much hate for one another, over Politics, race, sexual orientation. I am hopeful that we can start standing for Freedom for all and folks learn how to respect others, even when we do not agree on things. When I was growing up, I was taught to respect others’ beliefs and understand we all have a right to choose had to lead our lead without so much hate from others. I am hoping that more folks come out and support Biker Runs like they used to. That folks get back to supporting one another and help create larger runs again. I am hoping to bring folks from a lot of different kinds of motorsports to attend more various events. With more folks working together the Biker Runs and other motorsports events will have bigger crowds and able to raise more funds for those they are trying to raise them for. Praying that Dr. Bannout will be able to help Danelle get further in controlling her seizures. Praying that I can get better control over my COPD. Praying to see more love in the world and not so much hate.

BIKER DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS HELLDOG WRITER
Dec 6-8, 2024 — A five-event weekend in Fresno, Cali! Friday I was on the hunt for baking persimmons while riding the back roads through Yokuts Valley with Fresno County H.O.G. Eureka! Found the sweet, squishy bakers on Rainbow Rd in Sanger. Got home and went to work peeling and seeding the gushy wonders. Made a double batch of cookies to drop off at the first stop Mathews H-D on a cold, foggy Saturday morning. This fundraiser will help buy Christmas gifts and bikes for kids at the local Susan B. Anthony Elementary School. As the sun broke through the clouds, Madam LA and I saddled up for stop 2 Strummers in the Tower District - where the Fresno County Hells Angels were meeting up with the local biker community for their
26th Annual Toy Run. The truck was on-hand collecting toys but the “Christmas Jackpot” was waiting for our Bike Parade to arrive at Chukchansi Park. After dropping kickstands in the upper level, many riders joined the Angels on the infield to help distribute hundreds of bicycles to an excited crowd of children and their parents. These gifts go a long way to fulfilling hopes and dreams for our most needy families. After the give-away there were many bikes left so some made their way north to Stockton and others traveled south to Tulare. Good to know the generosity of Fresno County knows no boundaries. Back to the Clubhouse, DJ Mac Steel was spinning tunes while we stuffed ourselves on delicious dinners of Carne Biker Days Continued on page 8

of avoiding highways; Dana took us on a scenic route from Oceano to Avila Beach past all the small surf cities in-between. We met up with the pack at Mr. Rick’s and enjoyed breakfast libations to get our motors rolling. A short ride on the 227 to the Portuguese Hall and we could smell the

BBQ grilling over an open oak fire. The bikes poured in to enjoy the live music, raffles and famous Santa Mariastyle Tri Tip prepared by the Optimists Club. time to go with the weather conditions ahead. Took the quick route on the 101 to the 46 in Paso Robles to the 41 where much lane splitting and shoulder riding occurred (end of a holiday weekend, argh!). The air chilled as soon as we lifted over the Kettlemen hills and could see Valley fog in the distance. Chapter Christmas Party where we feasted on some kind of roast beast… and all the fix’ins. Awards and recognitions were given along with strong accolades for all this hard-working chapter accomplishes. Every year there are hundreds of rides scheduled, meetings that are more events than work and many charities who receive donations. Thanks to Cara Mathews for taking the group under her protective wing over many years of corporate stewardship. The gift exchange got a little dicey when I won the coveted Fresno edition Monopoly game, and it was quickly stolen by a young lady who could not be refused. Luckily;
Sunday for the Mathews Toy Run was the foggiest day of the weekend. Face shields up to see in the icy, wet stuff and still blinded by the haze blooming my glasses. A good crowd was on hand getting last minute shopping done while munching on donuts and giving the gift of gab. KSU was supposed to be 9 am, but got delayed till 10 am in hopes of better weather. Well, that never happened, but the riders made a run for it up the hill to Wonder Valley anyway before returning to Smash Bros for “lunch on the house,” courtesy of the dealership. Time to eat up boys and girls gotta keep your motors roll’in. Tis the season and Santa’s sleigh still has miles to go before he sleeps.

KOPS for Kids Danelle Brown WRITER
On December 7th, 2024, Richard and I decided to go up to Mariposa, but we had to wait until the fog lifted. There were 3 different Toy Runs going on that day, but it seemed like this one we would go to today and support one of our advertisers. We figured it would be a nice drive into fresh air and to get us out of the city as well. Steve’s Sportsman Café along with Mariposa Deputy Sheriff’s Association for their KOPS For KIDS Event. The Mariposa Deputy Sherriff’s Association would be doing all the serving to the customers throughout the day. All the tips going to help buy Toys for the Kids. When we got there, we were greeted with such love and appreciation and thanked us for coming out to support this event to help kids of Mariposa.
Sportsman Café open that morning at 8:00 am. They were packed and stayed that way for quite a while and were able to raise approximately $2000.00 off the breakfast crowd. Ashli had help from Rudy Mirelez and Ashley Costa. They were all enjoying themselves as they helped the customers. As were trying to decide what we wanted to eat. The Owner Steve’s heard we were asking how done is the roast beef. Well Steve figured the best way to show us was to bring out a couple thick slices of the Roast beef for us to try. It was smoked for 4 hours and was well done, which made Richard happy to hear. We went to taste the roast beef, and it was so tender we were able to cut it with a fork, and the juices flowed out of the meat, and we cut it with the fork. The taste was so unbelievably tasty and kind of melted into your mouth from the first bite.
When I talked to Ashli Lavios Deputy K4K coordinator, she told me that when Steve’s We went ahead and placed our order for a French dip
sandwich for Richard and I ordered a wrap, which was best I have tasted, and I eat wraps a lot. The portions were huge, and we couldn’t eat more then half of it so we had to take the other half home with us.
I hope all these kids get a good Christmas and I hope all of our readers have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God Bless Ya’ll
