drinking themselves to death and using other substances such as heroin, cocaine, and marijuana to help with the nightmares from the war. He explained that the troops were not getting the welcoming home ceremonies as they are today, that they were getting spit on and called “baby killers and murders” (Dobereiner, N. (2013). Johnny said that this lead him into one of his darkest depression holes that he has ever been in. He said that he was so ashamed of himself of what he was becoming and he avoided his family and his old college friends that were trying to find him. Sergeant Johnny kept this life style in San Francisco for two years until one day his older brother found out where he was at and dragged him out of that unhealthy environment and got him help at a local Alcohol
Anonymous (AA) Rehabilitation Center. After 30 long days of struggle of addiction along with perseverance to continue to fight for sobriety, Johnny finally got clean. Sergeant Johnny’s life is completely different now because he constantly reminds himself of where he was when he was abusing drugs and alcohol and where that will lead him to where he is today. Johnny explained that his life of recovery from abusing drugs and alcohol is the only path for him. He explained that large crowds have always been a huge ordeal for him and that he would avoid them at all costs. Johnny said that he went through some Prolong Exposure Therapy (PE) at the VA where he started off at less crowed places like coffee shops and then eventually over time worked his way up to big stores like Walmart that are always crowded. Johnny says that he now goes to concerts in the park and has the freedom of going where ever he wants too. SGT Johnny gives thanks to the VA for helping him and other American Hero’s!
Have you signed the PINK CAR? By: Christina Nunez On Thursday October 11, 2018 CC Biker and Motorsports Newspaper had the opportunity to attend an event for Breast Cancer Awareness, little did we know that we’d be putting our signatures on a pink Acura. After talking with Ms. Ellena Woodhams
marketing director of Fresno Acura and hearing the background as to why they have people sign what they refer to as the “Pink Car” I felt inspired to write this story on it and get the word out. I am hoping with my story we can help Fresno Acura acquire more signatures next October and many
future years to come.
figures out their donation amount.
Upon talking to Ms. Ellena Woodhams and watching their Youtube video I have learned that they started the pink car in 2013 as they wanted to do something unique and fun way to engage to their customers and the community at large for Breast Cancer Awareness. They take a brand-new Acura to Method Media of Fresno where they have the Acura wrapped in a bubblegum pink. They then take it around the community to different events, hospitals, businesses, and have traveled as far as Visalia to get as many signatures on the Acura as possible. At the end of October, they add up all of the signatures that they receive and that’s how Fresno Acura
As of Friday October 19, 2018, they have a total of 2,200 signatures and going strong. Their donations go to help pay for mammograms, research and education and advocacy programs at the local Breast Cancer center. So, if you haven’t had the opportunity to sign the “Pink Car” and would like to in the future please look up the “Pink Car” on social media and on Youtube you can also go to Fresno Acura the whole month of October to get your signature on the “Pink Car” and support a good cause. We will have our signatures on there for many years to come! Thank you, Fresno Acura, for supporting a great cause! References

Our morning began with a meet-up at the Clovis Veterans Hall. Rows of beautiful shiny, motorcycles all lined up. A service honoring our veterans was briefly held. First with the Honor Guards with each Veteran carrying a well pressed flag. Then we learned how 100% of the proceeds earned today all go towards the purchasing of the wreaths, which was followed by a prayer and then a wonderful rendition of God Bless America was sang. Warm burritos and coffee available to those that arrived for this event. The riders looked very excited to take part in this event, as was I! Being in awe of all the riders that were also veterans from various armed forces. These are men and women that fought for everything our country stands for. Today I want to give thanks to all men and women that have made that tough decision to enlist or perhaps even drafted. The ride began in Clovis, hearing the sound of those motorcycles rumbling was amazing. To just see them all line up was really heartfelt. From Clovis they worked their way
up the hills to Auberry where the first stop was to a fun little bar called Stonehouse Tavern. With a live band and the endless flow of beer. Stonehouse Tavern was holding their first annual Chili Cook Off. Then it was off to The Roadhouse where a great barbecue with delicious tri-tip sandwiches, pilaf and fantastic chili beans were served. The sun was shining on this beautiful October day. Wheels Up were playing music and we all enjoyed hearing the variety of music that was played! A raffle was also held for this event with a table filled with wonderful prizes. Everyone I am sure had a great time. I know I did! On December 15th at the Clovis Veteran Cemetery, everyone is invited to come out and bring your family and friends for the annual placing of the wreaths. Our way of honoring all
those who fought for all of us. These men and women made sacrifices in the name of freedom. We will sacrifice this one day of them.

Happy Thanksgiving By Kelli Morgan Langley Ahhh, Thanksgiving…..a time for family, friends and food, and for giving thanks for all that we have. Just the thought of turkey, ham, dressing and the many sides, as well as the pies and desserts, can make me gain 5 pounds! It’s a time for reflection, a time to appreciate all of the people and the things that make our lives worth getting up for every morning. And although we all have heard about the Indians and the Pilgrims, there’s so much more history to this holiday that’s not common knowledge… The United States does not have the monopoly on Thanksgiving; the holiday is celebrated in various forms on different dates in Canada, Germany, Japan, the Caribbean islands, and Liberia. The Netherlands, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and India also have their own versions of Thanksgiving. In most places, Thanksgiving is considered a “harvest festival”: after the crops have been harvested for the winter and people celebrate the end of the growing season.
who had migrated from England had a feast for all, including the Native Americans who lived near-by. It was considered a religious celebration, a way to give thanks to the Lord and a means to attempt to convert the Indians to Christianity. Such celebrations became common after harvest season in many parts of the young country. President George Washington proclaimed the first nationwide Thanksgiving celebration in America marking November 26, 1789, “as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God”.
page 3 Today most of the religious aspect is gone from the holiday, and it is known more as a day when extended families and friends gather to say grace and eat, and everyone around the table tells what he or she is thankful for. It’s a day to watch football, and catch up on all the family gossip. If the weather is nice it’s guaranteed that front yards will be filled with touch football games and kids playing. It’s the day that grandma cooks, then yells at everyone else to help clean up; that cousins and uncles argue over football; and the day that almost everyone tries to avoid topics like politics and religion, but that one person always starts a fight anyway.
And don’t we all have that one uncle (dad, grandpa, brother) who falls asleep in the recliner, oblivious to all the chaos going on around him? So now that you’ve learned a little about how the holiday came about, it’s time to enjoy it! Eat all the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie you want, you can exercise tomorrow! And give thanks for all you have in your life; even if it’s not much, it’s much more than others have. If the sky’s clear take a ride and let the wind blow past you, and take the time to appreciate God’s gifts. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!!!
Modern Thanksgiving was first officially called for in all states in 1863 by a presidential proclamation of Abraham Lincoln, who proclaimed the date to be the final Thursday in November as a way to develop unity between the Northern and Southern states. The idea didn’t work, though, due to the Civil War, and a nationwide Thanksgiving date was not actually recognized until after Reconstruction in the 1870s. On December 26, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt In the United States, the modern signed a joint resolution of Congress Thanksgiving holiday tradition is changing the national Thanksgiving traced to a well recorded 1621 cele- Day from the last Thursday in Nobration at Plymouth, in present-day vember to the fourth Thursday, and it Massachusetts, when, after a success- has remained on that day since. ful harvest, the Pilgrims and Puritans

Changing Logan’s Life
By J-Boy On September 6th, 2018 I received a private message from Amy Nott. Her message stated that she didn’t really know how she ended up on my Facebook page, that she was looking for bikers that help kids that are being bullied. The message went on to talk about her son Logan and how he was an ongoing victim of being bullied. She also mentioned that the problem had been taking place for approx. two years now and how it first started with one boy bullying Logan to three boys bullying him now. She also talked about how Logan’s school, Freedom Elementary in Clovis CA, had been failing her son by doing nothing about the complaints she and her husband Rick had been filing with the school. Amy was a mother who watched her son become down and depressed. She watched her son as he began to lose the spark that made him Logan. She felt hopeless, helpless, and scared for her little boy. Although Logan is smart, funny, athletic, the quarterback of his league football team, and practices martial arts, he wasn’t a kid that was use to having to defend himself. Logan has a pure heart of gold and would rather make friends instead of fight them or any other kids. One of the things that made Logan depressed more then others was his inability to become friends with the kids that were bullying him. He made it his personal mission to turn the bullies into friends by the end of the school year, however the bullies were not having it. As my conversation was coming to an end with Logan’s mother, I told
her I wanted to help, that I have a group of friends that would also like to help and that we would do anything to get the bullying to stop. I set up a day and time for The Group and I to meet with Logan and his family, to get to know them, and to come up with an event that will turn Logan into a Rockstar and get the bullies to leave him alone. A few days later I was in a bad motorcycle accident and could not make the appointment with the Nott family. I did not want to let them down, so I asked the other members of The Group to keep the appointment and meet with the family. That meeting ended up being so important, not just for the members of The Group, but for the Nott family as well. It ended up being a meeting of tears and hugs for everyone. During the process of getting to know Logan and his family, we were in the middle of planning a Sweet 16 princess style ball for a little girl in Exeter who was born with a brain tumor, who after 116 surgeries on her brain over the years, was now terminal. During one of the planning meetings for the Ball I had an idea of how we could make Logan a Rockstar even before his event takes place. Every princess needs a prince to escort her to the Ball. I contacted Logan and his family about the idea and Logan and his parents were excited to get involved. On September 29th, 2018 Logan put on his tux and was the perfect prince to escort our princess to her Ball. Logan did not leave his princess’s side all night, he made sure she had that best time at her ball.

Once the Sweet 16 Ball was over, Logan returned to school the following Monday and while standing in line at lunch, the main bully Logan has had to deal with, came up behind him and began to choke him for no reason. Logan, finally having enough finally fought back. The school ended up suspending Logan for one day and the bully for two days. Logan should have never been suspended. The school knew about his situation of being bullied for almost two years and did nothing about it. Logan defending himself was entirely the schools fault. After hearing about what happened to Logan I began to plan Logan’s event. The event I came up with was going to simple and yet strong at the same time. I felt Logan’s family and the community needed to be able to send a message to the school, the district, and the administration. I sent out a request on Facebook for riders of all kinds. Whether they ride a bike, lowrider, classic, truck, car, etc to meet at a parking lot near Logan’s school and we would all ride together to pick Logan up from school and bring him back to the meeting spot to be celebrated. This event was to designed to make Logan the kid everyone wants to know and be friends with and also send a statement to the school which is, either you do something about your students being bullied or we will and punishing Logan for finally defending himself was the wrong thing to do. On the day of Logan’s Ride there ended up being over 50 motorcycles, with members from at least three different motorcycle clubs and over 15 cars that come out to support Logan. I, myself was in a car due to my bike still in the process of being fixed from the accident I was in. As we left the meet spot and headed over to Freedom Elementary, the line of bikes and cars was such an amazing thing to see. Everyone together in one caravan heading to show love and support for a boy 99% of them did not know. When we arrived at the school I noticed the school had contacted Clovis PD as there were officers guarding the entrance to the school parking lot, only allowing vehicles in that belonged to the
parents of the students that attend the school. I’m not sure what kind of protest Freedom Elementary was expecting, but it was so clear to see just how out of touch they really are. Once school ended, Logan came running out toward the crowd of people who were there to greet and support him. You could see the excitement all over his face as he walked up to every person in the crowed hugged and thanked them for coming out to support him. I stood back as I always do at these events I plan and watched the community embrace Logan. I also watched as the crowed grew larger with parents and kids from the school. Some immediately supporting, some just wanting to know what was going on. After 20 mins or so, Logan hopped up on one of the members of The Group bike and rode with the caravan back to the meeting spot of the event. From there Logan was surrounded with more love and support from the community. Two of the valley’s local news stations were there and interviewed him, which only moved him to happy tears during the interview. Logan’s parents Rick and Amy were beaming with pride and happiness for their son, knowing that from this point on their son’s life was forever changed, that there would be no more bullying, that his confidence would grow to making him become a leader in the ongoing fight of bullying in ever school. If you are reading this story and it’s hitting home with you, maybe because your child is the victim of being bullied or you know a child that is, The Group is here to help.
