ell it has not been an easy road, but we made it. Welcome to the 37th issue of CC BIKER and MOTORSPORTS. Three years and counting thanks to all of you, it could not have been done without your support and advice. I am just amazed by all the new family and friends we have made in three short years. THANK YOU!

Bikers, until a company I was working for bought a biker publication. I was sent to scout biker locations and learn what they were about. I was warned to “be careful” at a few places I visited, but when I got there, I was amazed by how friendly folks were. They offered me food, drinks and lots of conversation. Since I am not a biker, I wasn’t expecting such a warm welcome. I thought if this is the “rough group” then I was completely wrong about Bikers. I made it my mission to let people know how friendly, and family oriented most of these folks are. Right before I launched CC Biker and Motorsports, I went on my very first Motorcycle event (February 6th, 2016). The Sierra Shadow Casters MC, invited me to ride along with them on their monthly Breakfast Ride. I drove my car since I don’t own a bike. Since that day we have become like family. I feel so blessed that they invited me, knowing I am not a Biker, but rather an Advocate for Bikers. That day set the tone for what was about to come.

We have had so much fun attending various Biker Runs, Sprint Car Racing, Stock Car Racing, Dirt Track Racing, Sand Drags, Concerts, and lots of fundraisers. It’s cool to see folks from different types of motorsports come together to support one another and the local community as well. That’s the way it is supposed to be, support your neighbors and have some good family fun while doing what you enjoy. As the publisher of CC Biker and Motorsports Newspaper, I associate with upwards of 30 Motorcycle Clubs and riding groups, not to mention numerous independent riders. There is so much diversity within the biker community as far as who they are, what they stand for and things they do. There is one common thread though, and that’s their love of the open road and doing good things for people. I am so blessed to be invited to so many events throughout the Central Valley and Sierra foothills. I was a bit leery about working with

work with Valley Children’s hospital which is well known for taking care of kids regardless of the parent’s ability to pay. Funds raised by the biker community helps to assure Valley Children’s hospital can continue to help kids who need assistance.

Most Motorcycle Poker Runs are typically organized to raise money to help others. A lot of Runs support Veterans’ groups which is amazing. Quite a few

We try and keep the biker community informed about upcoming events, where they are and what the Ride or Run is about. Our Readers really appreciate this service. Often, we will get a story about how the event went. Groups are always welcome to send us their post event stories. From March to October I attend some type of motorsport event every weekend. There are usually several events going on, so I try and hit new ones plus attended the ones I know have drawn a large crowd or is raising money for some great cause

I soon learned biggest part of all bikers’ credo is Respect for one another, something I understood since that was how

I was raised. Give Respect until they show they do not deserve it and then just cut them out of your life and be happy.

welcomes bikers with open arms.

CC Biker covers a huge area from Bakersfield to Mariposa. We have upwards of 700 locations where you can stop and grab a copy of the newspaper. Its popularity is astounding as evidenced by the fact that out of 25,000 newspapers distributed the pickup rate (papers left on stands) is roughly 0.8% or about 200, a clear signal that folks like what we are doing. Most free papers have a 15% pickup rate. All businesses listed in CC Biker are Biker Friendly, that is the main criteria to be in CC Biker. Approximately 95% of our advertisers are Bikers themselves. Among other things we are an Information Guide to let you know which local Businesses are Biker Friendly and who

I sure as heck don’t make a living wage with CC Biker and Motorsports (for now) but I do get to attend events free of charge which is a nice perk – definitely helps keep the costs down so we can attend and promote more events. Newspaper 3rd Anniversary Continued on page 3

Newspaper 3rd Anniversary Continued from page 1

It was at one of these events last fall, where we were promoting Western Flat Track, and attended the flat track races, when I noticed the Law Tigers booth. Law Tigers is a national motorcycle lawyers’ firm that represents bikers in personal injury cases. I introduced myself to Kelly Knipe the firm’s marketing manager for this area. Well, when all was said and done Law Tigers became not only an advertiser but has cobranded with CC Biker. Some of our loyal readers may have noticed our cobranded event canopy provided by Law Tigers. We are planning on a longtime relationship with them. We are also lucky enough to have several volunteers to help us with everything

from manning our booth at events to taking pictures and paper distribution. Some have stepped up to write stories. In fact, we are debuting a new monthly column in this issue called RIDE by Paul Hall of the Sierra Shadow Casters. I’m pretty sure our readers will enjoy his style. God Bless all of the volunteers for their help, we could not do this alone!

paper FREE we must do what all free publications do – offer our readers advertisements. Not just any ol’ advertiser though, as mentioned, we select Biker and Motorsport friendly businesses. Most all of our advertisers distribute the CC Biker and Motorsports Newspaper at their place of business. We are always looking for new commercial ads. Our rates are ridiculously reasonable.

We are always looking for new talent. If you like to write and been somewhere cool send in a story and a few pics. Have the technical fix for some Harley glitch (like that would ever happen)! Send us your story on what you did to fix it. We would be more than happy to read your submission and consider it for publication.

So, if you like what we do give us a call to get your business in front of our 25,000 readers. Your ad will help us both ride down the road to success. Call today for rates 559 572 3573.

PLAYER’S

SMOKED BBQ Serves Up Great Food CC Biker’s esteemed publisher Richard Tilley asked if I’d join his team in order to share a few of my riding experiences. Hence this new column “RIDE.”

It’s a small, clean restaurant with a counter-order process. The food was up quick, some of us got our

I spoke with Mike who’s been the owner for about 3 years. You can tell he has a real passion for his restaurant. He was quick to point out his sauces are all home-made. He told me he has tried hard to keep his prices down and indeed they were fair. The place has great motorcycle parking – one of the cooks rides a sport bike. The imposing giant smoker out front -- which takes up 2 parking stalls -- sends a delicious whiff of BBQ flavor into your helmet as soon as you pull in the lot.

I plan to cover a variety of subjects, as the column head implies. I intend to give you a very subjective view point namely, mine. I will call it as I see it, no BS. You may agree or disagree but hopefully you’ll find my reviews worth adding to your “good to Know” file. Each month our MC (and anyone who wants to join us) does a “Breakfast/Lunch Ride” on the first Sat of the Month. Our destination in February was Player’s Smoked BBQ in Madera. It’s located at 1816 Howard Rd. Fourteen of us pulled up a chair at Player’s and I am pleased to report everyone, including myself, really enjoyed it!

I asked if it was good. She could probably use a little sales training, but I appreciated her honesty. Maybe potato salad wasn’t her thing.

Mike, owner, tends to the smoker

If you are up for a ride to Madera, I recommend Player’s for lunch or even breakfast. Check out their website: playersbbq.com for hours and menu. I give the joint 3.5 stars out of 5 and that’s because it lacked a traditional BBQ place atmosphere. I found its decor a little too sterile or “strip mallish.” Also, the group room was super tiny. Even so, call a few biker buddies and go check it out.

plates delivered to our table before we even sat down. The staff was friendly, and the self-serve beer fridge was stocked. I had the Pulled BBQ Chicken sandwich with beans. I wanted the potato salad, but the order taker seemed to hesitate when

SUGGESTION: After your meal head to Hills Pride Inn, for a cold brew. It’s popular 100-year-old beer bar (cash only) in Knowles. Take Ave 21 (Raymond Rd) out of Madera to 600, turn right on 606 go one mile to Hill’s Pride on left (dirt drive). About a 35-minute ride from Player’s.

Frosty Balls Poker Run 2019 Ray Tackett WRITER It was that time of year again, Saturday January 26, 2019. The day of the Annual Frosty Balls Poker Run put on every year by the UnderLords Motorcycle Club Fresno, the sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was going to be a perfect day to ride. As always, per tradition, the sign-ups were held at Road Rage Performance at 4697 E. Belmont in Fresno where owner Matt Beal maintains and builds some of the baddest custom motorcycles and hot rods in the nation. He can do it all for you from maintenance to custom builds. Check them out on Facebook, their Twitter at GotRoadRage or their web site www.roadrageperformance.com. Around ten o’clock you could hear the rumble gettin’ closer and the street out front of Road Rage soon filled up with bikes, Independent Riders and Clubs were filing in to get signed up, add the ride bandana to their collection and try their luck at a winning poker hand. Right around 11:30 the UnderLords announced the location of the next stop and gave a short safety brief. Part of the fun of riding on these events is being able to enjoy the party afterward.

Everyone headed off to The Shanty to get their second card and partake of a couple beverages. The Shanty is always a great place to relax and have a few and they were ready for the mass of bikers that piled in. The bartenders served up some tasty Bloody Marys and kept the soda and suds flowin’. Next it was a quick jaunt up the road to Brown Bears Hot Dogs, unfortunately there was a family emergency and they couldn’t open up. I had my mind set on one of those awesome dogs but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. That ended up being a quick stop. We hope everything turned out alright for the folks at Brown Bears. After that everyone got to take a little ride through the hills to The Road House, a local favorite and very biker friendly spot at the corner of Auberry Rd and Millerton Rd. It’s always a good time there, you can sit at the bar, play pool or relax in the sunshine out back. Naturally we all kinda lingered there. It was too beautiful of a day not to. After a bit

everyone headed down Millerton Rd. to Friant and pulled into the last card stop Sumner Peck Ranch Winery, the Peck Family has been farming here in the Central Valley for five generations. Their ranch and winery is home to their award winning wines, local produce and gourmet foods which are all available at their indoor farmers market. It was time to make the ride back into town to the UnderLords MC clubhouse to turn in the poker hand sheets, grab a beverage or three and partake of that homemade chilli and pozole they were serving. Everyone rolled into the UnderLords compound to the rockin’ sounds of The DB Trio, one of the hottest bands in the area. Live music is always good but it is especially good when the musicians are as talented as these guys. They Rocked! The food was outstanding, the band was great, and the raffle is always a good time. Nick from Chicano Life MC seemed to be having a good day, he won the high hand prize and Miko of Screamin Demon MC did pretty well himself, he was the esteemed winner of the low hand prize. Congratulations guys! As usual it was a great time at Frosty Balls Poker Run 2019, it was a beautiful day to put some miles on the bikes and relax with great friends. Thanks to

all the run stop locations for their participation and thanks to The DB Trio for the awesome music. A huge thank you to our motorcycle community, the brotherhood and sisterhood is amazing and big thank you to the UnderLords Motorcycle Club for putting on another awesome event. Â Ride safe everyone and we will see you out there!
