Happy New Year!!!! Kelli Morgan-Langley WRITER 2020. Let that sink in….2020. Not just a new year, a new decade. Weren’t we supposed to have flying cars by now? Colonies on the moon? Robots to perform our most menial tasks? Another year has come and gone, we’re now 1/5 of the way through the “new century”, and most of us are still living the same old dayto-day as we always have. Just think of all we do for the “New Year”….the preparation, the partying, the resolutions: personally, I always see the New Year as a celebration for surviving the “old year”…but always with hope that this coming year will be the brightest and best. “New year, new me”….who hasn’t heard those words (or said them?). And how many people actually try to live by that mantra? Losing weight, quitting smoking (or drinking, or whatever vice you have), spending more time with family, cleaning out the garage, and a million other “resolutions” that we silly people make every year on the first day of the new year? From ancient Babylonians and Romans to modern day man, each culture who has a sense of time also seems to have this tradition of making resolutions. For early Christians, the first day of the New Year became the traditional occasion for thinking about one’s past mistakes and resolving to do and be better in the future. One of the first recorded events in the United States that concerned resolutions occurred in 1740, when the English clergyman John Wesley, founder of Methodism, created the Covenant Renewal Service, most commonly held on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. This tradition has carried on to modern day within evangelical Protestant
churches, in which night services held on New Year’s Eve are often spent praying and making resolutions for the coming year. Most resolutions are personal in nature. People try to better themselves physically, mentally and spiritually by changing some perceived “bad behavior”. However, according to recent research, while as many as 45 percent of Americans say they usually make New Year’s resolutions, only 8 percent are successful in achieving their goals.
because your significant other, crush, kid, etc. told you that you were getting fat? New Year’s resolutions have become a secular tradition, and most Americans who make them now focus on self-improvement. The U.S. government even maintains a website of those looking for tips on achieving some of the most popular resolutions: losing weight, volunteering more, stopping smoking, eating better, getting out of debt and saving money.

This year New Year’s Eve falls on a Tuesday, so law enforcement is optimistic that fewer people will get behind the wheel after consuming intoxicating substances. So please don’t drink (or smoke) and drive: we’d hate to have any of our readers end up as a statistic. Not to mention the legal fees are outrageous! CC Biker and Motorsports has many events coming up in the next year, hope to see everyone out and about, hanging out with this great group of people! Check out the CC Biker and Motorsports Facebook page for event information! My resolution is to get out and meet more of you wonderful people, I look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year! Here’s to hoping your 2020 is the best year of your life…if you make a resolution, we hope you stick to it and see much success. We hope whatever you choose to do on New Year’s Eve you have a safe and happy time, and please, remember, DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! HAPPY 2020 EVERYONE!!! This is Richard Tilley, I wanted to add a little to her story. I want to Thank All of for your support over the last almost 4 years. I couldn’t have gotten this far without all of you. Thank You and Happy New Year!

hind that word and the value of it.
Bonnie Henson WRITER
People are always telling me how strong I am. Like it’s a medal of valor or a badge that I’ve somehow earned...... Why? Because my son has cancer? That doesn’t make me strong. Because given the choice I would choose to be a coward and have my son well. So what about that is strong.
I was sitting next to my son on his bed rubbing his legs trying to be somewhat comforting. He wasn’t feeling well, and his breathing was a bit more labored than usual. So I asked him if he was okay and he said yeah but I am really tired. He was afraid if he went to A Mother’s Love Continued on page 5

Mountain Kids Bike Give Away Richard Tilley OWNER/EDTIOR Mitch of G’ma and Pappas Biker Apparel in Coarsegold, Ca with help from lots of good folks put together another great event. On Saturday December 21, 2019. They were able to pass out 277 bicycles to the Mountain Community kids. Just watching their faces light up was such a joy to see. This was the 4th Annual Bike Give away that G’ma and Pappas has put together and I know that there will be many more to come. G’ma and Pappas does so much for their local community. It is so good to see folks sowing love to others without expecting nothing in return. We need a lot more of this in America… A Big Thanks goes out from us at CC Biker and Motorsports to Mitch Riegelhuth and Lori Brown for all they do. We felt Honored to be asked to help out again this year and look forward to many more. Bikers for Christ did an amazing job cooking a pancake breakfast for everyone. The kids ate for Free and it was only $5.00 for Adults. The working hard to feed so many in a short time and it went great. We had a raffle , and a DJ at this event as well . This Event was another Big Success Great Job!!!!! Mitch and Lori Thanks to All who came out and

sleep, he would not wake up. So much so that he wouldn’t sleep, and he wore two monitors one on each hand. The monitors tell him his blood oxygen level and his heart rate. He could watch the monitors to make sure he was still okay. He asked me if I would watch his monitors while he slept so if his heart rate dropped, I could wake him up. He said he was feeling very panicky and anxious today. That broke my heart. Because panicky and anxious was just another way of saying... I’m scared of dying but I don’t want you to worry. He said if I wake up scared just talk me through it for about 5 minutes or so okay? I cannot manage to fight the tears back,

But I could not find the strength to do anything but grab him Tighter and cry for another few minutes. That was two days ago and strength has not found me yet.

I had to find my strength and go to my other children who just lost their brother and needed me. Being a biker myself I asked CC biker and Motorsports newspaper to put together a run for my son so that he can take his last ride with his mom and have a memorial to remember his strength. way up through the ranks. When the Viet Nam conflict broke out, Sergeant First Class Tilley went over as a member of the exclusive Special Forces Green Beret. He put his life in danger virtually every day as a platoon member on combat patrols. He helped lead his men through some of the roughest terrain on Earth, in a country where you couldn’t be sure if the person approaching you was an ally or an enemy. His calm demeanor and extreme courage made it possible for him to lead young men into dangerous situations, knowing they could depend on him to get them out. On February 7, 1967, Tilley’s bravery was at its most apparent. During a routine patrol, he and his platoon were attacked by a much larger group of Viet Cong soldiers. While the platoon leader ordered a retreat, Tilley covered them so they could reach an area where they could set up a defensive perimeter. During the battle the platoon leader was killed, and Tilley took over. He directed his men in battle and called in for air support, all the time firing his weapon and tending to those men who were wounded. As the men prepared to be picked up by helicopter, Sergeant Tilley single-handedly attacked the enemy with a vengeance, firing his weapon and throwing grenades, while his men safely reached the evacuation site. He then returned to the site of battle to ensure the wounded men were carried out and the bodies of those killed recovered before he climbed aboard the helicopter himself.

It is open to all walks of life and have amazing Bloody Mary’s on Sundays.
