Final Ride for Kelly Richard Tilley Owner/editor

On Saturday, February 29th CC Biker & Motorsports Newspaper hosted a memorial ride for Bonnie Henson and her son Kelly in heaven. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and good friends. Like Adam Garcia and his group from the ABA (American Bikers Association), who graciously accepted to lead the run. They were also accompanied by Adam’s lovely daughter, Brianna, who proudly sat behind her dad and carried Kelly’s ashes up to Stonehouse. We were able to give Bonnie a final ride in honoring her son, Kelly (1st) Fernandez, and grant the wish of a mother and fellow biker.

Biker & Motorsports Newspaper feel so blessed and honored that Bonnie reached out to us. We are thankful that Ammar allowed us to gather for our starting location at The Waffle Shop at 4025 W. Figarden Dr. in Fresno. He has been a big supporter for CC Biker & Motorsports for quite a while now and runs an advertisement inside of our paper. They have a large parking lot at their location and some great food. Some of us had Breakfast before registration started. The ride went smooth as we went up to Stonehouse Tavern at 33071 Auberry Rd in Auberry. It’s a cool little place with a huge outside area to help accommodate a large crowd. We want to thank all of you who came out on your bikes and those who followed in your cars, to take this ride with Kelly and his mom. Also those who joined us at Stonehouse to support this ride.

son was so strong and courageous there are no words to describe him. To the very end Kelly was trying to help us through his cancer. I wish you could’ve met him. I know Kelly would want to say thank you to CC Biker and Motorsports, Richard Tilley, Adam Garcia and his daughter Brianna, all the guys from ABA, The Waffle House, and Stonehouse Tavern for helping to make this happen for him and his mom. From the bottom of my heart thank you for helping me honor my son’s memory, he deserves it. Richard Tilley, I hope I can be involved with your paper and future events so that I can help do for someone what you did for me………..Kelly’s Mom, Bonnie Henson

way up through the ranks. When the Viet Nam conflict broke out, Sergeant First Class Tilley went over as a member of the exclusive Special Forces Green Beret. He put his life in danger virtually every day as a platoon member on combat patrols. He helped lead his men through some of the roughest terrain on Earth, in a country where you couldn’t be sure if the person approaching you was an ally or an enemy. His calm demeanor and extreme courage made it possible for him to lead young men into dangerous situations, knowing they could depend on him to get them out. On February 7, 1967, Tilley’s bravery was at its most apparent. During a routine patrol, he and his platoon were attacked by a much larger group of Viet Cong soldiers. While the platoon leader ordered a retreat, Tilley covered them so they could reach an area where they could set up a defensive perimeter. During the battle the platoon leader was killed, and Tilley took over. He directed his men in battle and called in for air support, all the time firing his weapon and tending to those men who were wounded. As the men prepared to be picked up by helicopter, Sergeant Tilley single-handedly attacked the enemy with a vengeance, firing his weapon and throwing grenades, while his men safely reached the evacuation site. He then returned to the site of battle to ensure the wounded men were carried out and the bodies of those killed recovered before he climbed aboard the helicopter himself.

Indica Or Sativa W h i c h i s r i g h t fo r yo u?

Benjamin Hill WRITER Marijuana is known by many names. Mary Jane, weed, bud, smoke, refer or good old pot. No matter what you call it the herb your using is either an Indica or Sativa cannabis species. Both plants have given birth to countless hybrids of each and when bred together there are endless variations of different strains out there to try. But how do you know what is right for you? And how do you tell the difference? Hopefully we can answer a few of those questions here and give you a good place to start. Sativa was the earliest cannabis plant named in 1753 and was believed to be the only marijuana plant to exist until the discovery of Indica. It originates from regions along the equator such as Mexico, Thailand, Southeast Asia and Columbia. Identified by the skinny, scraggly leaves that developed due to the harsh climate. Indica leaves are much broad and thicker than their counterpart and look much more like the clas-

Bone chilling cold winters and sweltering hot summers caused the Indica plant to grow short, stubby and more dense plants than Sativa. It also evolved a thick coating of THC resin to protect it from the turbulent environment.

more of a routine day than anything else. He was in similar situations at other times, but when he speaks of those times he does so with a calm demeanor of a story-teller, as if they were no more uncommon than a day at the beach or at the park. During the war he continued to rise in the ranks, and eventually was commissioned as an officer. Captain Tilley retired on May 31, 1973. He now lives a quiet life on his own little ranch; if you saw him on the street you would probably not be aware of the heroic acts he has committed. But to sit down and listen to him….man, that’s priceless. I cannot begin to imagine what it was actually like to have gone where he has gone, to see what he has seen, and to experience all that he has. Listening to him tell about his experiences is like having a living history book, only not so sugar-coated. If you know a veteran, don’t forget to take the time to say thank you. And if they want to tell you about their time in the service, be sure to take the time to sit down and listen. Veteran’s Day is more than just a day off of work, a time to BBQ and drink beer….it’s a time to honor all of those who have put on the uniform, picked up a weapon, and provided us, by shedding their own blood, the freedom that we have today. Please don’t forget that on this Veteran’s Day!

Make your own hours, sell while your out riding. Sell 1 or 100 ads, doesn’t matter. This is a commission based job. No set hours you have to work.
