Motorcycle Mania Keri Jastrzemski WRITER
Attention in the Pits was heard for the first time in a long time at Sacramento Raceway Park last month. For the first time in years a all motorcycle drag race and event happened May 23rd and 24th. The event was hosted by Cali Rose Promotions and Deanna Powel from the Sacramento raceway. Motorcycle Mania turned out to be a great race and event. Something we all needed after a year of covid, no racing and bike events.
Racers from 6 states including Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, and California came out to race. Over 85 racers entered various classes such as, Western Pro Extreme Association’s Pro Extreme and Pro Outlaw class. These 2 classes featured some of the fastest bikes in the west. Pro riders brought their Nitro Harley’s, pro stock, pro mod, and pro fuel bikes out. Nigel Patrick from Arizona set a new west coast E.T. record with a 6.569 second pass @ 197 mph in the 1/4 mile. He went on to win the Pro Extreme Class in the finals against Craig Brown
also from Arizona. The Western Pro Extreme Association hosts all out, heads up racing. Many of the motorcycle drags in California are bracket races. Racing against your own time. All out, heads up racing is just that. Show up, race, and see you at the finish line. Many racers are excited to get back to old school heads up racing. Other race classes at Motorcycle Mania included race associations out of Southern California such as the Kingsman shootout, Real Street and Pro ET class for pro riders. Others enjoyed the Hot Street Bagger class, and Street ET classes. These classes allowed anyone to bring their bagger, street bike, Hayabusa or whatever they ride and race. They even had a grudge and test lane for those who just wanted to test themselves and their bikes on a prepped drag strip. This led to a great weekend of racing for both the racers and fans. Over 600 fans showed up to enjoy the races and more.

Many were excited to see an all-bike event after a year of covid lockdowns. Many are ready for more, asking when we are doing it again. Most drag bike races are in conjunction with car races. There is nothing better than an all-bike race as the cars often overshadow the bikes at race events. Next time you hear of a Bike drag event, go, and check it out. Fast bikes, great people, and hey there its always an excuse for a ride. You may even catch the race bug and get out there yourself.

Club of Hearts For the Children Annie Cross writer
I had the pleasure of running into Joker at the Visalia Bike and Car show, he was promoting their organization at the event and so we wandered over to see what was going on. Joker told us about their group which is comprised of 12 Knight of the Roundtable each member is equal in the decision making within the group which is really cool. The goal of the Club of Hearts is to help children who are in distress due to bullying or abuse whether in school, home or in the neighborhood, their goal is
to provide a shield of safety and support for that child. They have been around about 3 years and incorporated for 2 years although w i t h covid last year most of their good work was halted except for a child having difficulty in the play yard of her complex, The Club of Hearts attended a function there and the intervention was a success. But it does not end there, the club assists with court room support for the bullied child, education to parents and children, academic intervention at participating schools, and picking up kids at school to show that a support system is in place
for that child and often the bullies stop their bulling ways when they see a show of support from the Club of Hearts. The club does an outstanding job of screening potential members, through background checks prior to joining the club or attending a function with children present for the safety of all, they are an impressive group doing what is needed more of in this world, looking out for the most vulnerable, big thanks to them for their work. The club is located in Visalia but will travel to assist if needed, this is a great organization, and we are hoping to see more work like this being done in the Valley.

e set off early for the first Freedom Run Rally on Saturday June 12th to meet riders at the first sign in spot, this run took a lot of planning and was finally here. Richard was contacted several months ago regarding a run to Paso Robles Casino, since the pandemic there have been very few events or runs in the last year and the timing was right for Richard to make a great run happen. Richard was able to coordinate riders from Bakersfield, Tulare and Fresno Counties to meet up at the James Dean Memorial site and ride over to Paso Robles representing the Central Valley.
a needed break for everyone, some shade, good conversation and lots of laughs were shared. We had a good crowd, cars were honking in support of the run, that was really cool to see people waving and hollering at us.
We had 45 bikes by the time we left James Dean Memorial site, so traffic control was dicey, but we got back on the road and riders in the wind for the last leg of the run. We arrived at Paso Robles Casino which is right off the highway and easy to get to, the band was set up and the barbecue smelled delicious. The Paso Robles Casino offers card tables and a full-service bar, it is really a nice We arrived at Keyes Mobile place and great location. We got Truck and the bikes immediately our booth set up and raffle tables started arriving, early day and it 50/50 and everyone participated was still cool weather, so every- especially with the grand prize one seemed excited to ride on raffle being a 3 day stay at Sturgto Lemoore. The Clovis Flat Track Museum has re-opened after covid! Bob Miller writer The Clovis flat track museum formerly the Dan Rouit Flat Track Museum has re-opened with nonprofit status. Dan started the flat-track museum over 20 years ago in Clovis. featuring Flat-track and speedway motorcycles dating back to the oldest bike in the collection a 1912 Indian board track racer. With three rooms filled with around 100 motorcycles in the collection there is a lot to see. Old race posters adorn the walls, and there is so much memorabilia you won’t be able to take it all in in one visit. Bikes from all over the world are in the collection American, British, Japanese, European. Some of the bikes in the collection are special for the rider who rode them while others are for who tuned them or the races they won. We have reopened with limited hours. We have an Open-Door Saturday on the second Saturday of the month from 8am to 12 noon. We are also open by appointment. If you have friends coming into town and you can’t make it Saturday, just call and

Movie night is free but as always, we appreciate donations to keep the doors open. The Clovis Flat Track Museum is at 309 West Rialto between

Fireblade Performance
Bike Night Richard Tilley and Annie Cross WRITERS
On Wednesday May 26th, Rob Shepard owner of Fireblade Performance put on a bike night at his shop located at 1330 Golden State Ave in Bakersfield California, by the time we got there things were already started and lots of bikes were arriving. We set up our booth and enjoyed the night, the “Wheelie Machine” was a hit with folks trying their hand at riding a wheelie safely. We met up with Haley Morain, Papa Rick Payton and some new friends there, around 70 bikers showed up to support Rob, it was quite a night.
Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys also had a booth, Rob provided pizza, soda and the sound system was great, the raffle prizes were awesome, and it seems everyone had a great time, heck the kids were playing toss across in front of our booth. Rob is planning to host Bike Nite on the last Wednesday of the month, stop on by it is guaranteed to be a good time. We plan to attend a lot more of these even though it is a drive, it was sure worth it to see so many folks having so much fun just hanging out.
