a concert with Scott stevens
Brought to you by Six Strings for Freedom Danielle Brown Rios writer
On May 13, 2022, Friday night at The Wakehouse in Reedley there was a concert with Scott Stevens Six String’s for Freedom. Clay MC had set up the fundraiser to support all first responders, and retired ones, from police, fire fighters, EMT, and so much more. To thank them all they do for are community and hard work. As I arrived around at 7:45pm, two officers were taking the tickets and helping out, I was able to talk to them they asked me what my logo on my shirt was so I explained I write for CCBIKER, and gave them an insight on what we do. They were impressed and began talking to me about things, for one they told me one was still on the job and one was retired. And how much this meant to them knowing people still care. I started telling them I could relate do to the fact I have family in the police department, and retired and also had an uncle that was a fire fighter, and worked in the forest fires. He even worked along with inmates saying they were the hardest workers and u could also count on them too. We talked about how the crime and how the job effects there life, family, emotionally, to the fear of every day job. But most of all they said they love the job because they wanted to make a difference in today and in are children’s life for the good. They talked about wanting fewer valances, less hate, helping when they can. They talked about sad stories. And I know it to real. We see it are self’s on the news what they have to do every day. The hardest part was them saying I pray I just make it home every night to my wife and kids and family. They were so relaxed and so real and happy to do their job, and they enjoyed being a part of the concert that night as well. They felt so grateful to get appreciated.
enough to keep it cool and not hot. People were coming in and getting there drinks and food. Having a good time, it was a very relaxing feeling to be there with the lights streams and patio deck area and the county area in the back ground. With the stage on the side. So no matter where you are you have a good view. Scott Stevens and the band (guitarist) Tim Pasley and (drummer) Nico Medina, started coming out and getting things ready, so I went down to introduce myself and let him know I was going to interview him if it was still ok at the end. Scott was ok with it and happy to do it. I was able to talk to Scott for a little bit while the others set up. Scott told me that he was asked to do this and they came out here from Tennessee the night before, to come out and play. And 3 other places then heading back to Tennessee.
By then Nico had come over and started talking to me and my husband Alex who was taking pictures. They were all about the hair and beard real down to As I walked into The Wakehouse, earth. Scott told me that he and it was a nice night for a concert; Nico had been friends for many the wind was blowing but just years’ best friends. Good working
with your friends and people you can trust and have fun with. Scott took some pictures, talked to the 2 police officers and some other responders. Then it was time for the big start.

1st Annual Men of Prayer International Praise Worship Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker) On April 24th Madera held their first worship concert held by Men of Prayer International. Over 40 motorcycles roared into this ranch to support this cause and just enjoy the concert on this warm spring day. This event busted out the seams as over 1200 families and people filled this beautiful ranch style scene. Not to mention over 150 souls gave their life to God during a open calling to those who felt inspired. Over 16 faith based groups/vendors and food vendors surrounded the stage that held music for various faith based artists and testimonials given through out the day.
Vendors like Unity Crew Familia, Armor of Faith apparel, Warrior’s of Faith Motorcycle Ministry, Teen Challenge, God’s Disciples, RMT church, Lotto Ministries, Valley West Christian Center and
Dream of Sweets kept people talking and exploring throughout the afternoon. Artists and speakers like Cruising for Jesus, Deja Love, Crossover, Joshua 19 and Saint Frank preached on God’s love and power as the crowd swayed with joy. A car and bike show were found on the outer edge of the stage where chrome and classic respect filled the air. Prayer booths, a bounce house for children and sweet deserts also kept families entertained on this Sunday afternoon. One memorable sight was people throwing drugs and pipes on the stage, giving up addictions and afflictions during one testimonial that brought tears of healing power in the crowd. MC Horacio Aleman, Bryann Trejo and Mike Servin
assisted in making this event a entertaining but inspirational success for believers and non believers as they graced the stage for this abundant crowd. It took the Men of Prayer group several months to plan this event but when talking to Adam Beas who helped organize this event it was a labor of love as he expressed how much networking was involved with other motorcycle clubs, motorcycle ministries and over 12 churches from the local valley. Adam wanted to go beyond his city to reach people he mentioned as his goal was to reach the “unchurch” and not just 1st Annual Men of Prayer Continued on page 6

mesmerize current believers. Any time you involve bikers and classic cars though you gather mighty forces as word spread quickly to other communities. Men of Prayer International started their ministry in 2020 and also are involved in street and prison ministry to reach individuals not necessarily in church, to spread the good word. Adam gave much credit to other ministries who partnered with him to help not only this event but get their organization started as they would often go to other events and support each other under 1 cause. Adam reports we are ‘God’s vessels and we are to do his will and behind every good man is a good woman where we need to treat her well like God’s daughter.’ Through his own strug-
gles he became a man on fire for his home and realized men make mistakes but that we must rise up and need intimacy with God to be the better husband, father and friend. He has seen testimonies of ones he has touched as they will often say they are back on track at home with their wives by having a relationship with God now and immensely happier. A core component to this group is changing lives through prayer and connecting with others. A day of music, food, booths, car and motorcycle show entertained us all as Madera turned up the heat on their community and surrounding areas as a memorable day for the books.

more of a routine day than anything else. He was in similar situations at other times, but when he speaks of those times he does so with a calm demeanor of a story-teller, as if they were no more uncommon than a day at the beach or at the park. During the war he continued to rise in the ranks, and eventually was commissioned as an officer. Captain Tilley retired on May 31, 1973. He now lives a quiet life on his own little ranch; if you saw him on the street you would probably not be aware of the heroic acts he has committed. But to sit down and listen to him….man, that’s priceless. I cannot begin to imagine what it was actually like to have gone where he has gone, to see what he has seen, and to experience all that he has. Listening to him tell about his experiences is like having a living history book, only not so sugar-coated. If you know a veteran, don’t forget to take the time to say thank you. And if they want to tell you about their time in the service, be sure to take the time to sit down and listen. Veteran’s Day is more than just a day off of work, a time to BBQ and drink beer….it’s a time to honor all of those who have put on the uniform, picked up a weapon, and provided us, by shedding their own blood, the freedom that we have today. Please don’t forget that on this Veteran’s Day!
