CC Biker & Motorsports 5 Diamonds 11th Annual Visalia Rescue Mission Run

J Danelle Brown Rios WRITER

On June 4, 2022. We arrived at 11th Annual Visalia Reduce Mission for a benefit run they have been doing for over the past 11 years. When we arrived, the sun was getting warm, but didn’t stop everyone coming out. It was still a good day for a good ride and for a good cause. People came in saying their hello’s and signing in, getting their maps, and paying

for their rides. To help for the benefit run.

I talked to a lady named Jenna who worked for Visalia Reduce Mission, and she said Five Diamonds MC Donnie has been allowed a sweet man, helping them for years, and they are so blessed to have them, and all the others come out to support use as well. Jenna, also said that everyone she has meet are so kind and sweet and kind hearted,

every one she has meet from all the MC bikers. She added to that she wished we had more people in this world like this. I can’t agree more with her on this. The world would be a better place. As I walked around taking pictures and saying hi to people, someone had brought out burritos, water, for everyone some other organizations. For the riders, and the people, and as I was taking pictures some people that were down on their luck with homeless. They called them over and gave them a burrito and water, the smile on the person face was enough it was priceless. Jester of care, love for one another. What we need to do more of these days not to look down on one another but look at each other as equals no matter what they look like, how they dress, poor, rich, or homeless, everyone needs

Selma March For Jesus

Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker)

On May 27 and 28th Selma residents watched Antioquia Ministries march for Jesus for a one and half mile journey around Selma to celebrate their higher power. Their destination spot held classic cars and motorcycles on display that shined in the glistening sun. Free food and gifts were provided for local residents and attendees as Pastor Roy DeLaGarza, Evangelist El

Hermano Felipe, Pastor Horacio Aleman, Pastor Joe Alvarez, and Adam Beas of Men of Prayer International talked to the crowd. Cruising for Jesus also serenading the crowd with music and dancing. Bounce houses and a water slide amused the young children for hours as this event celebrated community and Jesus. This writer was blessed to have her own pastor ride with Selma March for Jesus Continued on page 4

someone who cares about them. Show someone just a little kindness goes a long way. And can make a person feel good even in the worst of days. Time seems to go by pretty fast and it was time to get ready to leave but before we did, they had one more thing for the Visalia Rescue Mission, they called everyone to come up as all the Five Diamonds MC gathered in front of everyone with the Visalia Rescue Mission people, as Donnie, with his MC group, presented a large check of $18,650.00. to help Visalia Rescue Mission donation. It was an emotional experience. Then after all the thank you and talks. We stayed talked about safety tips and then went on to saying a prayer for safe travels for use all as we head out for the benefit run.

Living Word Visalia “Unity in the Community Outreach and Car Show” Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker)

For motorcycle enthusiasts we live for our riding times especially on our days off. Going to one event on a Saturday of May 28 just simply wasn’t enough for this rebel soul. Pastor Victoria Torres graced this writer with her presence as we cruised to not only Selma for their event but Visalia after for another eventbike/car show. Noticeable waves and admiration follow when you see two female riders as kids and others get excited to see feel like your at the top of earth such dainty riders on big beats of looking down when you have no cage around you to contain the chrome. view. As we rolled into Visalia’s Living Word church we followed a MC group of La Raza in to park. Once again as the only female riders, but are we really surprised…no… we just smile and wink. For this church outreach event they had rappers like Joshua 1:9, singer DejaLove, free food, craft and food vendors, car and bike show, and Pastor Renteria speak on testimonies. Joshua 1:9 known for his old school rap style made the crowd bounce side to side as he impressed many and even had his daughter DejaLove join him for singing. This family must have a breeding gene of gifted singing talent, truly. Joshua 1:9 has been spreading God’s gospel and singing since 2003 and is well known in the valley com-

They say that’s the secret to happiness, not being in the past or future but in the present. Maybe they rode motorcycles when they figure that nugget of wisdom out.

The Rider Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker) Life has a funny way of unfolding swiftly in front of our weary eyes. Sometimes so quickly we can’t pinpoint when we grew so old, or how our kids could be adults when they were mere babies yesterday. Our hearts don’t run the same speed as time it seems. One thing that the biker community has learned it seems is that riding a motorcycle seems to slow time and everything around you,

as you go faster ironically. Sometimes people get a Harley or a convertible when they slam into a mid-life crisis, feel their youth is fleeting faster than good sleep, maybe they have been riding all their life, or decide to chase their lifelong dream finally. Whatever your reasoning when you decide to buy that bike your whole world changes. Soon you discover 12 dollars can fill your tank for 100 miles as opposed to your car of 55 dollars for 100 miles, and lets face it today’s gas prices, that’s

instant joy. Beyond the savings though you soon discover how you start jumping through your milestones of learning and comfortability. New bike goals get made and every time you ride you feel just a little more bad ass with each mile you trek. No words though can accurately pinpoint how you feel when you hear your engine roar like thunder, drowning the world out, suffocating your The Rider Continued on page 7

more of a routine day than anything else. He was in similar situations at other times, but when he speaks of those times he does so with a calm demeanor of a story-teller, as if they were no more uncommon than a day at the beach or at the park. During the war he continued to rise in the ranks, and eventually was commissioned as an officer. Captain Tilley retired on May 31, 1973. He now lives a quiet life on his own little ranch; if you saw him on the street you would probably not be aware of the heroic acts he has committed. But to sit down and listen to him….man, that’s priceless. I cannot begin to imagine what it was actually like to have gone where he has gone, to see what he has seen, and to experience all that he has. Listening to him tell about his experiences is like having a living history book, only not so sugar-coated. If you know a veteran, don’t forget to take the time to say thank you. And if they want to tell you about their time in the service, be sure to take the time to sit down and listen. Veteran’s Day is more than just a day off of work, a time to BBQ and drink beer….it’s a time to honor all of those who have put on the uniform, picked up a weapon, and provided us, by shedding their own blood, the freedom that we have today. Please don’t forget that on this Veteran’s Day!

problems, quieting the mundane and choking the boring out. The wind kisses your skin and pushes your hair back tickling your neck as your speed grows. It’s addicting to say the least. My first months of riding I was afraid to let go to ride with only

one hand. In fact, I probably was thought to be rude to not do our traditional peace sign gesture (wave) to other bikers. Once I mastered confidence though I began to let go for cordial waves. It wasn’t long after that when I learned to let go and move my hand through the wind in waves, tilt my head to sky and arch my back to relax. As the sky was a blanket of bright blue and clouds that looked touchable like fluffy cotton balls. The agriculture fields surrounding me seemed more breathtaking and the sky seemed brighter, prettier even more iridescent. Why had I never noticed that? The wind smelled sweeter and almost every ride citrus and jasmine were infused in the air, thick as summer’s perfume. Suddenly I found myself anxiously anticipating when my next ride was to escape life and the ordinary. Life on a bike is anything but ordinary. I never knew this level of peace until I started riding and found myself again after years of just surviving…now I was living. In a world of mostly men riders, I

roll up to most events being the only female rider as I usually get head tilts and stares and chuckle in my helmet. I tend to shock at least one guy when leaving as he asks, “that’s your bike!?” There is a surprising side effect to being a rarity in this welcoming biker community….empowerment. Knowing if I can do this, I can do anything and now that I can keep up with the boys I can officially write about them. Thus, so far I can’t find anything negative to write upon though, as this community has been helpful, kind, and family oriented. However, my spirit has become more fierce and bold as I know I can hold my own and my happiness is not in the hands of a boy but rather my bike. She takes me everywhere now and peace transcends every time. One thing I can be sure of is I am pretty confident God must ride in heaven, because this just seems too good to be true so I see it as a blessing in disguise of beautiful chrome. As I approach my birthday soon, I know that it’s only going to get better because I’m a rider now. Ride or die….with myself.
