Winner of the Battle of the Bands

Dawny Reb Band Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker) Hundred degree heat couldn’t stop four bands from battling it out outside for $500 dollars and bragging rights on Champion on July 16th, 2022. Stonehouse Tavern held their first CC Biker Battle of the Bands event. It proved to be a fun day of eating, spraying water, and laughing as vendors came with their one of kind goods to sell. BBQ was provided by Lamona Towing and others participated in bringing a dish as potluck style feast free for the community. Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, Stonehouse Tavern, CC Biker, Wild Angelz Ride or Die also helped contribute to this fun community event. Richard Tilley from CC Biker created this event as he “wanted to try and bring something nice to the folks of the Central Valley for free during these hard times.” Prizes were raffled off during this event as Richard strutted his best stuff in pink caminos to make the crowd giggle. To help our hot temperatures Stonehouse had refreshing misters and cups of ice water that ended up on different people to make the day go by just a little nicer. Any valley resident knows you can’t get mad a water fight when your in our valley heat. The folks who showed definitely were entertained for the afternoon as the Dawny Reb Band, Cody Allred band, Big Elk and DeHass band serenaded our ears. These bands brought their A-game as catchy lyrics and vibing melodies filled this mountain stage area. Only one champion though could be crowned victorious as people voted online and at the event. The Dawny Reb band took their rightful place as winner of CC Biker Battle of the

Bands 2022. This band has it’s roots in southern rock blues as any fan could tell. The Dawny Reb band has been rocking out since 1990. John Wash on keyboards and lead singer Dawny have been working together for over 30 years. They also did a

DOD tour for our troops during operation joint endeavor in 11 countries. This notable band also got fame in Music Row magazine and a discovery award with Billy Ray Cyrus in years past. This band also rocked European countries in the late 90’s on tour

as they traveled all over, including the United Nations. Jerry Jackson and Craig Judd also a part of the band make sure they keep the Dawny Reb band on their toes as they will be performing weekly on Saturdays’ in August at Stonehouse in Auberry.

Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker)

On July 15, 2022, big country artist Heath Sanders and Casey Paraday rocked the little town of Reedley with a intimate performance at the Wakehouse. The Kings River was a perfect back drop to this concert as the stars hung low in the sunset. Casey Paraday, also nominee for best guitar player as Arkansas Country Music awards accompanied Heath in this 2-man acoustic guitar performance.

He also elaborated that there’s a common bond with music and others we can relate to, and small venues are what they truly love as it creates connection with the crowd you can’t get with big arenas. Being on the road has presented its biggest challenges as naturally makes the boys miss home food and their homes as opposed to one hotel room after the other, as it is energy exerted takes its toll at times. However, connecting with Heath’s fans and singing/ playing guitar is his joy he confesses as that’s what he loves to do, song writer and just play. By far the most exciting assignment and most memorable night this little journalist/rider has had so far. Fellowship of the Bikes: Street Vibrations and Sacramento Bike Night Joslynn Davis writer (CallieSkywalker)

Many cities have “bike night” where motorcycle enthusiasts and riders meet to socialize, check out the chrome and engage in contests like ‘the slow race.’ Sacramento though has one of the largest bike nights this little rider has seen, and I’ve been checking out various ones. Over 500 bikes usually in attendance in the beautiful metropolis of Sacramento. Bumping sound systems, under glow lights, LED light kits, throttling engines, laughter and of sudden your wish list for your awe is the soundtrack of their bike grows to one day I’m going to do that! Your mind forces you to also take in fully the movie playing around you. Areas of lush full vegetation and trees compared to dry desert climate make you wonder if a T-rex well just start walking across the free way. I do blame the Jurassic Park trailers overly shown to me prior to the trip, but still. The scenery around you is like movie except your in the movie now instead of just watching, playing a role. Suddenly your realizing your not just surviving anymore but your living…and that is a whimsical difference.

Another bucket list goal of mine was to see Lake Tahoe. Sacramento was our pit stop Thursday to Street Vibrations and also another checked off bucket list goal. When I passed through Donner Pass though I did lose my appetite remembering that history lesson all too well, my smile turned into a grimace rather quickly. Now I know why the very well off citizens choose to vacation or live in Lake Tahoe though. I could smell the million dollar homes as we leisurely cruised through Tahoe. My eyeballs were saturated in gorgeous unique log cabins and mansions. How they Fellowship of the Bikes Continued on page 5
