5th Annual Animal Rescue Run
Richard Tilley Owner/editOrOn Saturday, September 23rd I woke up to a nice sunny day but a bit chilly morning. I went out to the shop to get everything we needed for the Poker Run, so I could head up to Daddy Waffles to get things started. Rod Salveson came riding in right after me, shortly after that Dana Ccbiker came driving in. We got the registration table put together and waited for folks to start showing up. About 10 minutes later we could hear Stephan’s bike in the background pulling up. Stephan and Peggy came out to help us with the poker Run this year.
Slowly, a few bikers started showing up ready to help support us in raising funds for Bandit Buddies Rescue. We had around 12 Bikers by 10:30, and we were blessed to have Christian Motorcycle Association lead us in a prayer before leaving on the poker run. The Group of bikers were headed to the Shanty on Shaw and Fresno Street and then head over to Nikki’s on old highway 41 (Elm Ave) and
Adams Ave. The Riders pulled poker cards, had refreshments, and then continued their journey over to Country Hub Café for the Final Stop. There was several other Runs and Rides going on today, so we are very grateful for those to decided to come join us in trying to raise funds for Bandit buddies rescue. When we arrived at Country Hub Café, Joaquin from Seriously Smoking BBQ was already setting up to get the
food ready for us all to enjoy. Kenny from CMA was there getting their booth all set up. Rodger, Rooster and another member of Buffalo Soldiers MC was there to help us guide the Riders and in and help us keep things clean and safe. Bandits buddies came driving in shortly after that and got their booth set up. Noah, came in shortly after that and set up his booth next to us. We began to start putting the raffle prizes out so that folks
can see what we had that they could win. Stephan got the music all set up, so we had music going. Soon the Bikers came rolling in to get the party started.
After they all came riding in and settled, the Bikers came over to draw their last cards to see who won the Poker Run. Rod had the high hand and Shawn won the low hard.

CMA Ride - Castle Air Museum
On the third Saturday morning of every month, our local Sword and Shield Riders (Clovis Chapter) of the Christian Motorcyclists’ Association (CMA) and friends, gather together for breakfast, fellowship, and an awesome group ride.
This month was no exception – on Saturday September 16th, we assembled over 14 riders for an adventurous 200-mile round trip ride up to Castle Air Museum in Atwater, CA. As our chapter’s Road Captain, I always factor in several restroom / coffee / gas station stops along the routes I’ve chosen to keep everyone replenished, refreshed & safe. Of course, we had to take the twisty scenic route up there, travelling up Hwy 41, then taking Road 200 (Oneills), up Road 426 into the back side of Oakhurst and then heading north on Hwy. 49 to Mariposa.
It was a beautiful crisp day with camaraderie and fellowship flowing amongst the riders. The scenery was green and gorgeous up there in God’s country, the scent of pine trees and fresh air filled our lungs. We then traveled south on Hwy. 140 through Cathy’s Valley, down into Merced and then north to Castle Air
Museum in Atwater. Most of us had never been there before and the mostly outdoor plane museum didn’t disappoint. There was a retired Air Force One presidential plane to tour and several dozen WW2 to modern warplanes, helicopters and even an old thermo-nuclear
bomb on display!
After the tour, we headed off to Isabella’s Mexican Restaurant in town for lunch. In retrospect, relaxing and breaking bread with one another is where true fellowship is fostered, as
we engage in deeper conversations and getting to know one another better through our interactive experiences together. I truly cherish each one of our group motorcycle outings we ride together on and learn something new each time about our brothers & sisters, including myself too.
Each ride is an adventure where we come together even in adversity (we had some roadside repairs on this one too) – no one gets left behind! All are welcome to ride with us, whether a member of another group or not. Ride what you’ve got with us - any kind of twoor three-wheel rides will do!

Animal Poker Run
Continued from page 1
Folks starting getting their raffle tickets and socializing with one another. A little while later Annie Cross announced who the winners were. Then Dana and I started calling out the raffle tickets and folks were checking their tickets to see if it was them.
Once the raffle was done, folks started gathering up to say their goodbyes for the day and head on to another adventure. We didn’t get a large group again this year, But I do want to Thank Everyone that did come out to help us raise a few dollars for Bandit Buddies Rescue. Thanks to Ryan owner of Country Hub Café for hosting this event.
