Sassano’s Men’s Wear in Old Town Clovis
Ryan Hansen WRITER
Longest owned family business in Clovis selling a full line of work and western wear, including Redwing and Justin Boots, Lee, Levi, and Wrangler Jeans.
SASSANOSMENSWEAR.COM
Sassano’s began as a shoe makers shop in 1907. The original store was located on what is now Clovis Avenue. The business was forced to close in August of 1931, due to the depression, but re-opened in February of 1932, and has been in operation ever since. They have grown to include a full line of work and western
wear, including Redwing and Justin boots, Lee, Levi, and Wrangler Jeans.
Sassano’s also has a large selection of hats including Stetson, Dorfman and Scala. They have recently added the “Old Guys Rule” line of apparel. The business is still owned and operated by the Sassano Family, as well as one long-time employee (almost 50 years), Bob Parks. Thanks to all the loyal customers who have supported Sassano’s throughout the years, some for generations. Come by and experience the professional, one-on-one customer service.
5 Diamonds Tulare13th Annual Visalia Rescue Mission Benefit Run
Richard Tilley OWnER/EdITOR
I woke up to a sunny morning on June 1st and started getting ready to head to Visalia to help support the 5 Diamonds Tulare Chapter on their 13th Annual Visalia Rescue Mission Benefit Run. Highway 198 was pretty busy already at 9am lots of traffic as we made our way to Visalia.
As we got closer, we could see a line of cars lined up outside on the Visalia Rescue Mission. We found a spot semi-close and started to walk over to the event. It was amazing to see so many bikes all lined up to show their support.
It was great to see so many familiar faces as we ventured into the event. Bikers just kept coming in, which was awesome to see. Danelle and I were very happy to see all of this. When we got there, we saw about 75 Motorcycles lined up for the Benefit Run.
The Visalia Rescue Mission had donuts and breakfast burritos
to help everyone start the day and not be hungry. They also had coffee, juice and waters available for everyone. We had another hour before the riders would be heading out. As we walked around saying hi to lots of folks we knew, more bikers came rolling in. Before the run started, I went and counted about 130 motorcycles lines up to give support for this run.
The Run started at Visalia Rescue Mission, then onto Dead Rat Saloon in Woodlake for a stop and then off to the Stag in Exeter, once done there off to the Green Olive in Visalia and then onto the 5 Diamonds Clubhouse to end the event. The weather was getting hot and hard to breath with my COPD. So we were only able to make it as far as the Dead Rat Saloon before we needed to head home. I was having too hard of a time trying to catch my

breath. But we were with them the rest of the way in Spirit. The 5 Diamonds MC presented a check to the Visalia Rescue Mission for a sum of $21,125.
That is so awesome that they were able to raise that much in the last year for them. Another great job y’all!

16th Annual 2024 Bikers for Christ “Bike Blessing Run”
Oakhurst, CA The 16th Annual Bikers for Christ “Bike Blessing Run” was held on Saturday June 1st, 2024, and is one of my favorite non-CMA runs we attend as a group and participate in. Over 150 riders and passengers gathered up in sunny Oakhurst, CA for some great fellowship and a delicious pancake breakfast and a hamburger lunch between riding.
Our CMA combined groups rallied at Clovis Dennys early to meet, and S&SR Road Captain Levi mapped out the ride itinerary, ready to lead us heading up the hill. We had multiple CMA Central Valley Chapters in attendance, including Fresno, Clovis and Hanford members. I love it when our fellow Chapter brothers and sisters can get together and
spend some quality time gathered for a great cause! Due to a recent accident injury and not being able to ride my bike, I had the privilege and honor of driving up the hill with my dear brother Ed “Slim” Cloyd, a vital member of our Clovis Chapter, cherishing some much-needed quality bro time talking about the deep things of God and “iron sharpening iron” life changing discussions. Talking with Ed was the best part of the trip for me that day, hands down.
This annual event starts between 9:00 and 10:00am, we arrived at 9:30 for some much-needed breakfast and coffee. At 10:30, all the participants gathered for corporate

pre- ride prayer over the event and an overview of the route details. After this prayer, CMA joined the BFC Crew in helping bless all the riders that were wanting to be blessed with their bikes for safety and over their lives in general. This is my favorite part of the ministry journey, getting to personally pray over each willing individual as they receive their Blessing Sticker. It is very intimate and impactful occurrence that a group of Christian strangers praying together before our Almighty Father on their behalf!
Kick stands up after the Bike Blessing was completed and we were off on our journey up and around Bass Lake. There were several stops along the way, picking up new cards for a traditional “best hand” style Poker Run. Millers Landing is my favorite stop, as 150 bikes descend upon the sleepy little market & restaurant. Visitors and locals are overwhelmed
at first at the sight of leather clad Bikers on shiny thunder beasts until we interact with them, and they realize we are just friendly “rough around the edges” looking Christians who just love to ride!
As our Chapter’s President (Sword and Shield Riders of Clovis), it warms my heart and truly gives me hope that the future is very bright as I look around and see all the wonderful brother and sisters in Christ who join up and travel together on the adventures we share. Each person in our CMA chapters and our riding friends are very special to me, and I truly cherish these precious times together. I personally invite you and your friends to join us on our next rides coming up this summer and into the Fall, we would love to get to know you and ride together. May the Lord Bless you and keep you safe and healthy!!!
