Upcoming Country Singer Joe Peters
Danelle Brown WRITEROn July 19th, 2023, Richard and I went to Bakersfield, CA. to meet Joe Peters at the Bar and Grill called the Pour House Bar and Grill to have a one-on-one interview. As soon as we walked in you could see the place was packed, but Joe Peters was waiting for us and you could tell he just as excited for the interview as we were. We got something to drink, and we headed out to the patio area where we could hear better and do the interview.
As I started the interview it was also being live streamed so people could also ask Joe questions and give their support. I have to put some of the interview in my own words but most of it is all Joe Peters. Hopefully he will like how it comes out, and you all get a better look into his life and will come out and support him and all he does for his community.
I started with my interview it was relaxing atmosphere with just a few questions I thought people would like to now about a up and coming singer that is so amazing.
Where are you from?
Joe: I have been living in Bakersfield since 1981. My family worked in farming, oil, and gas. I moved to Arizona for about 4 or 5 years, came back and have been here ever since.
How old are you?
Joe: I am 32 but people tell me I look 22 but people don’t believe me with a laugh. (He went on to say he saw a
picture of himself from a few years back can’t believe he is 32 laughing).
Are you married?
Joe: No, but I have a very beautiful, supportive, girlfriend she is very sweet and carrying her name is Megan. (She was there with us as we were having the interview)
How young were you when you started playing?
Joe: My first guitar I had was when I was 5 years old but being the youngest brother, it got destroyed by my brothers. But then I got another guitar at the age of 9 years old. I never had any lessons but when I moved to Arizona, I was in the 10th grade in high school, I really didn’t have
many friends. So, I started learning to play the guitar in my aunt’s basement it was like my comfort zone. (As he told his story you could tell his real emotions and how that guitar gave him something of peace, a place and feeling).
Did you and your family all get together and sing?
Joe: My mom loved Mo Town, Brooks and Dunn, Johnnie Patterson, all that kind of music. And my dad was into talk radio I remembered being in his truck and the radio being on with Paul Harvey, as he was on his phone doing business calls, he was a busy hard-working man. My brothers liked music but wasn’t a big focus in their daily lives. It
was kind of strange that I took the path I did.
When did you know you wanted to be a country singer?
Joe: When I moved back from Arizona to Bakersfield when I was about 18 or 19 years old, my friend Tony Bowler, was a DJ at a place called Knock A Rogg Bar. My brother took me. I had my guitar, and we got up and did karaoke, singing Poncho Lefty. It was my first time ever playing in front of a crowd. I wasn’t sure at that moment if I liked it or not. But it did give me some interesting thoughts singing and

Celebration of life for Big Ed
Richard Tilley OWnER/EdITORTanya Justham Cliff and Dawn Gardner put together a Celebration of Life for Big Ed on August 12th,2023 to give Honor to a Man who was liked by so many people.
It started off at The Shanty in Fresno and others gathered at Nikki’s Bar in Easton. Then the groups rode on down to Riverdale to get the festivities started. As a few of us gathered at Country Hub Café in Riverdale to have things ready when everyone showed up. About 50 Bikes came rolling in and around 20 cars and trucks to attend the Celebration of Life for Big Ed.
Cover Up played live music for the crowd of about 100 people.
Everyone was having a good time sharing past experiences with Big Ed. Several went up to the microphone and told stories of their life with Big Ed. The ladies brought lots of snacks and appetizers and Country Hub Café had the kitchen going for folks to get something to eat. The Country Hub Café was pretty crowded inside and outside with folks having a good time as we Celebrated the Life of Big Ed. A Big Thanks to Ryan Gates for allowing us to use his place for the Celebration. There was lots of laughs as well as lots of tears as the afternoon went on at the Country Hub Café located at 5020 19 ½ Ave, in Riverdale.

playing guitar. But fast forward a few years winning and losing things in life, music came back into my life, and I began writing, and singing around 2017, and I started harder trying to do something with all I had put together. Thinking of all the losses and people I lost along the way made me become the person and the singer I am today.
He added that he brings all that he has learned and what he sings is what he has went threw and wants people to connect on a personal level. It was genuine and pure, as we were talking someone was on live and asked if he was veteran? Joe, said no but his moms side was and dad was. Who have you got to play with on tour, and got to meet along the way?
Joe: Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Chris Young, those are some and a lot of other amazing artists. You never know
who you are going to meet along the way.
How do you feel about being a up coming county singer with people knowing your name?
Joe: Kinda strange living in Bakersfield and having a business, and family in politics and always having a good reputation in Bakersfield. I never knew I would get known for my music in my life at the beginning. Going into town and hearing someone singing my song is a good feeling or seeing someone wearing my merchandise.
He does a lot of donation concerts to help raise money for one thing or another especially for military and veterans. What do you want people to get from your music when you sing?
Joe: In my songs I sing about things that matter, and I have been through, loved and my losses. Everything I write and sing is from the heart and is genuine. I want to connect to the people from my emotions

and energy. Give them everything I got and relate to them the best way I know how. How many partners do you have with your bar?
Joe: The Pour House Bar and Grill is ran by his dad, his dad’s
friend and later he was able to buy into the business. After a lot of work, they have made it into an amazing place to go hangout, even a place for a band.
