Description The role of the instructor is key for making the teaching-learning environment a place where participants find opportunities to participate actively in their training and where they discover, understand, share and put into practice the knowledge acquired. The new digital contexts require instructors not only to be at the forefront of their disciplines, but also to be able to inspire and facilitate learning using the tools of technology. This online instructors´ course aims to help future instructors meet these goals by seeking to use a model based on asynchrony while allowing moments of synchronicity in order to obtain closer proximity with participants and a flexible content structure. The methodology used in this course is “learn by doing” and the learning process focuses on developing activities related to the skills to be acquired. In addition, this course has a format that serves as a reference when developing the course itself, and it offers opportunities to practice with the participant having to act in a similar manner to when he or she becomes an online instructor.
Objectives/Results The aim of this course is to show in a practical way future authors/ instructors of a virtual course on the IDB Integration and Trade Program how to navigate the virtual classroom as participants, and how to design the structure of their future course, as well as how to put together the multimedia content and practical activities in line with the objectives of their future course and in harmony with the methodology applied in this Program.
Profile of the participant (future instructor) The profile of the “Training Course for Instructors” participant is that of an expert who is able to conceptualize the theory in his or her area of expertise, and develop or select content. But this is above all for professionals with great practical experience who will guide other professionals, who are the beneficiaries of the course, in their learning process. The future author/instructor will be responsible for preparing the content and practical activities to enable learning the key concepts and skills that the beneficiaries of the training need to acquire. He or she will also act as a facilitator during the teaching stage, but the training related to the tutoring skills required for an online course will be given in a specific workshop a few weeks before the start of the course.

Methodology and structure The course will follow the same methodology as the courses that you will give as future intructors. It will be offered through the Moodle virtual classroom in an asynchronous manner, and those participating will have 24 hour access to the virtual classroom using any computer connected to the Internet during the 2 weeks that the course lasts. You can take the course in your own time within the timeframe established. The instructor will be available while the course is being given during business hours from Monday to Friday. Both module 1 and module 2 will require a dedication of approximately 12 to 15 hours. It will also follow the same structure of current courses (module of “Previous Activities”, reading modules with actual content, and a final module with “Closure Activities”), with theoretical material and practical activities.
Bibliography and complementary resources The bibliography used will be provided, and in “Complementary Resources” the material allowed will be linked from the INDES intructors course that offers basic guidelines on elearning, principles of instructional design and educational concepts.
