In the Name Of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful Recap of the last issue: A legacy is something that is handed down from one period of time to another period of time. Legacy is about life and living. It is about learning from the past, living in the present, and building for the future. With that said, what will be your legacy and why is it important to your present life?

Empower the youth: Plant a fruit tree. And He it is who causes gardens to grow, both trellised and un-trellised, and palm trees and crops of different kinds of food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess. (Al-Qur’an 6:141)

Plant a fruit tree. Learn how to care for the fruit tree and pick its fruit. Learn the many uses of the tree and its fruit. Now teach this program to three youth. Learning to generate wealth is empowering in itself. After it is done once, the mind starts to think, “I can do this again.” Anytime you don’t have to pay for food that is money saved. Never focus on the money alone. Money is only important if you use it to purchase goods and services. When goods can be obtained without requiring more money, in this case fruit from the tree, then money is the secondary concern and not the primary concern. As the mind develops and the paradigm shifts, the owner of the trees will realize that a System is necessary to protect and maintain the fruit production. This system must be comprised of humans, livestock, perennial trees, annual vegetation, and money transactions. The international name for this system is…business. Yet, all of this started when you planted a fruit tree.

The Islamic Strategy

1. Islam, Jama’ah, and the Islamic Village 2. Build alliances with Indigenous communities 3. Acquire property within or next to the Indigenous community 4. Extend network

Never think that you don’t have what it takes to accomplish great things. Join our Jamaat (we are recruiting), plan well, work hard and place your trust in Allah. Those things which are hard to achieve as an individual become easier when the work is shared in a group. “ If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt; if you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your victory complete.” - Sun Tzu Edible food forest Edible forest gardening is the art and science of putting plants together in woodland-like patterns that forge mutually beneficial relationships, creating a garden ecosystem that is more than the sum of its parts. You can grow fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms, other useful plants, and animals in a way that mimics natural ecosystems. You can create a beautiful, diverse, high-yield garden. If designed with care and deep understanding of ecosystem function, you can also design a garden that is largely self-maintaining.
