I GOTTA FEELING!
THE BLACK EYED PEAS AT MALLORCA LIVE FESTIVAL
The Black Eyed Peas have been a presence that has been hard to ignore in the music industry for over two decades, and their live performances are always a treat for fans of all ages. This year they are making a much-anticipated appearance at the Mallorca Live Festival that will undoubtedly thrill the crowd with their signature beats and electrifying energy. The group’s lineup has changed over the years, with Fergie, lead singer of the group, leaving to pursue a solo career in 2017. Despite her absence, the remaining members, will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo, have continued to create music and perform together, and their performance at the Mallorca Live Festival is sure to be no exception.
The festival is set to take place over three days, featuring a lineup of top musicians from various genres including fellow headliners The Kooks and The Chemical Brothers. The Black Eyed Peas will be taking to the stage on the second day and will hopefully perform some of their most famous hits such as “Let’s Get It Started”, “Boom Boom Pow”, “Where Is The Love?”, and “I Gotta Feeling”. The group’s famously high energy and dynamic performances have captivated audiences around the globe and the atmosphere is nothing short of electric. The group’s ability to seamlessly fuse different genres into their music is a testament to their musical talent and creativity.
During their sets, will.i.am always takes a moment to address the crowd, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to perform and sharing some insights into his life outside of music. Many of us on the island know him from the popular singing competition show, The Voice back in the UK but he is a man of many talents that also works with artists to produce, write and provide backing vocals. Despite his busy schedule, he is a true example of an artist that sees music as a priority for him and the Black Eyed Peas

DJ WOODY COOK, SON OF THE FAMOUS DJ FAT BOY SLIM/NORMAN COOK
Celebrity Magazine recently caught up with budding DJ Woody Cook, son of the famous DJ Fat Boy Slim/Norman Cook and TV presenter mum Zoe Ball at the renowned event venue ‘Reloaded’.
We wanted to catch his debut slot and see how this boy wonder was adapting to his new residency and the Mallorca nightlife. His energy behind the decks is certainly mesmerising and spontaneous and made us feel that ‘the student’ is working his way up to a music scholarship in editing and DJing, and becoming the full package in the world of entertainment with a few TV appearances under his belt. It is certainly a credit to the man when you think of how saturated the entire industry has become due to the apps, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and all the other sites that encourage us to document
our lives for all the world to see, in hopes of some recognition and for us to feel that people like us.
The fact that Woody’s father Norman Cook has been at the top of his game as a music producer, music artist and superstar DJ, means Woody will have access to sound advice, which is priceless in
an industry that doesn’t show much mercy to fame-hungry newcomers. Woody has a lot going on this year in terms of DJ appearances and he knows how to get the crowd rocking as I witnessed during his set. He has surprisingly great taste in music and wasn’t afraid to mix some eclectic sounds and get the crowd up on their feet during his hour-long set. It is
safe to say that, if Woody is in your neighbourhood on a DJ bill, he will not disappoint. He has the skills and he has seemingly inherited his father’s know-how.
Woody will be back at Reloaded on the 24th of May. Be sure to check him out on the decks and the Reloaded show as a whole!

Hollywood Writer’s Strike Continues
Coronation of King Charles III
King Charles III was crowned in a lavish ceremony that the Brits are famous for with horse-drawn carriages, a breathtaking military procession and, of course, plenty of royal speculation. The King and his wife, Queen Camilla, finally took their thrones as the world watched on although many were more interested in the other royals in attendance with Prince Harry attending without Meghan and Andrew nestled closer to the back of the audience.
15,000 screenwriters who are members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) have been on strike since 2 May. Although this may seem unrelated to all of us, many of us enjoy the shows that have now been paused mid-production. Stranger Things, The Last of Us and many other favourites have been halted or postponed until the writers and the studios reach an agreement.
Rafa Nadal’s Home Nearing Completion
The tennis champion from Manacor and his wife could finally move to their new home at the beginning of the summer after three years under construction. Situated on a 7,000 square metre plot of land in the highest part of Porto Cristo the huge property will feature a landscaped garden, and a swimming pool, and we can assume that a tennis court will feature somewhere in the plans!

Windsor Castle Rocks for King Charles III
In honour of the new King and Queen, a list of huge names from the entertainment industry took to the stage at Windsor Castle for a star-studded concert. Lionel Richie, Olly Murs, Take That, Paloma Faith and many more performed to a packed crowd and the new King and Queen. Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel and Chinese pianist Lang Lang were also on the bill bringing some more culture to an otherwise energetic concert.
Ballroom champion and TV judge, Len Goodman passed away aged 78 from bone cancer on April 22nd. The much-loved judge of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing with the Stars entertained audiences for years with his kind yet direct manner and his cheeky quips and has left a huge hall in the world of ballroom dancing.

Amanda O’Riordan x
I love a jumpsuit in the winter and a playsuit in the summer – but this spring into summer season is all about the Boiler Suit.
The other day I wore a boiler suit out to lunch. The men at the table laughed and made the usual comments about whether I was looking for a car to service – though admittedly it was in Kwik Fit Blue. The women, meanwhile, oohed and aaahed, understanding full-well the appeal of this long-overlooked item of clothing.
So, what exactly is a boiler suit? Well, it’s more relaxed than its cousin the jumpsuit, and far less sexy than its younger sibling, the playsuit. It has none of the comical undertones of its in-law, the onesie; nor does it have the more formal whiff of its colleague, the ‘all-in-one’.
Given that boiler suits were originally a hard-wearing uniform staple for tradesmen in the 1920s, they usually come in an array of utilitarian fabrics – denim, cotton, occasionally corduroy.
Brown denim short-sleeved, £118, free people.com; adidas trainers, £80, schuh. co.uk; jumper (around waist), £29.90, uniqlo. com
They are a relaxed, easy fit which makes it every woman’s friend, no matter what her shape or size is.
It could potentially be the hardest working item in your wardrobe. First, there’s the ease: no having to think about trouser and top combinations. Then, of course, there’s the layering possibilities. You can do a chunky jumper over a boiler suit, or a slim knit under it.
Anyday jumpsuit, £48, johnlewis. com; white sandals, £23.80, prettylittle thing.com
Organic denim, £165, jigsawonline.com; suede mule, £159, penelope chilvers.com; jumper, £29.90, uniqlo.com
Pink utility shortsleeve, £95, oliverbonas.com; leather sandals, £159, penelope chilvers.com
You can belt it with a cardigan to add an instant waist, or sling it over your shoulders for a relaxed, French vibe. Boiler suits can be casual and low-key or upmarket and sexy.
A boiler suit in pink, such as the Oliver Bonas one, or in yellow, like the Asos one, will serve you better than any Breton T-shirt – though both would look fabulous with a navy Breton layered beneath.
Leg shape is worth considering.
Yellow twill, £55, asos. com; trainers, £80, schuh. co.uk Dark-blue denim flared, £240, 7forallmankind. co.uk; cork sandals, £299, lkbennett.com
A relaxed, mom-jeans-style leg feels super casual, especially when paired with trainers. A super-wide leg in a soft chambray, like the Anyday jumpsuit from John Lewis can be lo-fi with a flat sandal, or high style with a heel. As for a high-waisted, slightly flared leg (above in 7 For All Mankind’s denim), it’s as much at home for a fancy meal out as it is a day at home.
So, this spring, do yourself a favour and invest in fashion’s greatest unsung hero – the boiler suit.

Men’s Summer Swimwear 2023
Already fantasising about lounging by that swimming pool this summer? Thankfully, 2023 is promising plenty more poolside action than the past few years, so it’s time to think about a pair of swim shorts which will make you stand out from the crowd. If you’re the kind of man who has worn the same chlorine-beaten swimmers for years on end (or the sort who simply forgets to buy a new pair and has to settle for whatever rubbish is on offer at the airport), now is the time to check out the styles that’ll look best on you.
Here’s a breakdown of the big trends for 2023, plus all the best swim shorts to pack for the Balearics this year.
Metallic sheens
For summer ‘23, there’s a big trend for swim shorts with oil-spill high-shine metallic finishes. They,’ll come into their own as the sun shines on them and look especially cool underwater. It’s all about swimwear glistening to perfection.
Fun florals
Florals? For your summer holiday? Ground breaking. Well, actually, the SS23 wave of floral-print swim-shorts takes things in an artistic new direction, be it through abstract stylings or playful, pop-arty vibes.
Tailored to perfection
There’s a very different vibe to be had at the poolside, dependent on whether you go drawstring or tailored, but the latter is really upping the ante this season. We have, after all, been stuck at home in loungewear during the pandemic, so why wouldn’t you add someth
ing smart to your holiday wardrobe.
Short, sporty and see-through
Whether you’re the kind of man who idolises retro 70s or who simply wants people to know you never miss leg day, the good news for you is that retro, really short shorts are as big this summer as they have ever been. Generally, they’ll have throwback contrast piping and an elasticated drawstring waist. Worn with slides and a white tee, they look seriously cool by the pool. And that draws attention away from the crotch area. And now for some of the best men’s swim shorts…
TOM FORD
Notoriously seductive, Tom Ford’s vision is often characterised by dusky tones, metallic detailing, or animalistic patterns. Here to encourage you to embrace your wild side, the refined fashion house has brought forth its tailored swimmers in an all-over leopard print and thigh-skimming length. Eye watering price-tag though.
£430. At matchesfashion.com
SANDRO
Known for chic Parisian styles given a healthy helping of rock‘n’roll edge, Sandro’s designs elevate those most discerning of menswear silhouettes to new heights. Case in point: this sharp pair of drawstring swim shorts have been elevated via a panelled stripe design in a range of oceanic blues.
£159. sandro-paris.com
PRADA
Prada’s Re-Nylon fabric is pretty much the GOAT when it comes to swimwear (or just about anything, for that matter). The sustainable
fabric, made from recycled ocean plastics, has been elevated in typical Prada style here with a monochromatic colourway trimmed in white stitching.
£490. prada.com
GUCCI
Gucci’s GG motif hits even harder when it’s magnified underwater. And with signature colour motifs such as the green and red web stripe to offset the dusty camel backdrop, you’ll struggle to find a bigger poolside flex than these. Alternatively, style with a retro knitted polo shirt for a high-fashion resort look.
£650. gucci.com
BURBERRY
There’ll be no mistaking the origin story of these swimmers. Decorated in Burberry’s instantly-recognisable archive check, these drawstring swim shorts are an easy way to flex at the poolside, and will work wonders for casual summer ‘fits when drawing on the colours of the pattern elsewhere.

RHOC: Martin & Hanna Discuss Teeth, Toddlers, and Treatments
It’s that time again when I touch base with the Kinsellas to see what they have been up to for the last month and to catch a glimpse into their busy lives…
By Ben Mulvey
If you have been watching ITVBe’s The Real Housewives of Cheshire, then you will have seen Hanna’s launch party for Icy Bear Cubs - the toothcare range that has been launched exclusively for kids. This range, as we mentioned previously, is accompanied by an app that encourages children to brush their teeth twice a day and shows them how to do it in a fun and engaging way. The app is launching on Monday the 22nd of May and can be downloaded from App Store and Google Play. The Icy Bear range of toothcare products will follow with preorders opening along with the app on the 22nd of May.
The last few episodes of Real Housewives of Cheshire are still airing on ITVBe and this season has been a real rollercoaster ride with a few heated moments between the wives, a new housewife joining the show, and all of the other drama that we have come to expect and love from the show. The final episode will be a reunion episode in which the Housewives all get back together to discuss the previous series and is set to be one to watch.
Martin has been as busy as ever with his clinic and his frequent trips to the clinic here in Mallorca. Dr Kinsella Skincare is set to launch on QVC on the 22nd of June which will increase the product’s reach and enable Martin to send it to more customers
and help more people achieve better skin at home. There is some exciting news for Martin’s clients in Mallorca, a new treatment is now available in the clinic that promises to make skin look two years younger with just a simple, non-invasive and non-surgical treatment. This treatment uses exomes to improve the skin’s elasticity, strength, and appearance. It can help with acne, stretch marks and other scars and the effects are usually noticeable within a few treatments and last for up to 12 months. Form an orderly queue now…
Aside from their busy professional lives, the couple also have two toddlers at home to keep them busy when that front door closes in the evening after a long day at work. Max is growing up fast and is chatting away about anything and everything, although football remains this little man’s passion. Kimia, the little princess in the family, has just turned one and is crawling around and keeping Mum and Dad on their feet.
Hopefully, in 12 months’ time, the family can relax once their dream property in Mallorca is under construction and all of the paperwork has been completed! In the meantime, they will be here on the island for a well-deserved family holiday in August to catch up with their family and friends on the island.
The current series of The Real Housewives of Cheshire is airing on ITVBe and ITV X. Martin’s clinic, Re-Enhance Medicina Asthetica is located on Avenida del Rey Jaime I, 108 in Santa Ponsa and enquiries and appointments can be made by contacting info@re-enhance.com. WAIT ... WHAT?
IBIZA
Ibiza has been buzzing and fizzing for the past couple of months and is about to pop itself a mahoosive and impressive 2023 clubbing summer cork for you lovelies and personally, I’m gagging for everything that’s in store! DJs, promoters and the movers and shakers that make the cogs in the White Isle wheel turn have returned early this season to up their A-game.
To quote Human Resource Dominator 90’s banger, expect what’s on offer to be “bigger and bolder and rougher and tougher, in other words, sucker there is no other”
CELEBRITY | 33
IBIZA! I’m back again for the third year running as Ibiza Pride Manager and I’m so happy to be working again alongside my good friend Ibiza Pride Director Antonio Balibrea - DJ San Balibrea. Ibiza Pride takes place 9th - 17th June and it’s gonna be huge with stage events taking place all week, closing with the allimportant Great March for LGBTQIA QTIPOC Rights. Catch me on the main stage DJing both the opening and closing events. For this Ibiza Pride, I’m beyond proud to welcome my friends Club Promoters Steven Braines and Sophia Kearney onboard with their incredible queer party on steroids
HE.SHE.THEY. So much work goes on behind the scenes with Pride events as we start planning a year in advance but I think this year’s Pride is probably the most exciting one that there has ever been. And…I’ve just bagged a biggie for 2024 so make sure you look out for that news release in spring 2024 because “the boy done good” with something very special! Another personal DJ career highlight happened recently, I was booked to spin for Clockwork Orange Final Printworks party in London alongside my b2b DJ husband Danny Oliver, a sad but happy mix of emotions as this clubbing venue stalwart will sadly be no more but I would like to say a huge thank you to Printworks for the memories, clubbing sensation moments, your love and pioneering spirit. I was in total awe of the DJs that were on the Clockwork lineup as they were all favourites of mine from back in the day, David Morales, Todd Terry, Seb Fontaine, Ratpack, and Jumping Jack Frost to name but
a few but what made this event even more personally impressive was filming the pilot for a new TV series which I am one of the presenters of.
For once my lips are firmly lip glossed and sealed until the commission is in the bag but what I can say is one of the other five presenters is Winn Austin, my dear friend of more than 30 years. Yup, it’s Winn the fabulous MC from the famous 90’s London party Kinky Gerlinky! Those boys Andy Manston and Danny Clockwork the Clockwork Orange Promoters, how do they do it each time bringing The Orange Army parties that make other parties look beige in comparison? They have the most incredible week-long Clockwork Orange 30th Anniversary in July but check this and get your tickets now before this sells out! For the first time ever, Clockwork Classical takes to Ibiza’s Recinto Ferial on July 23; a 30-piece orchestra replaying classic club tracks at an electrifying open-air spectacle led by musical arranger and conductor Matthew Freeman of the London Symphonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. It starts at twilight after a day of top artists and I’ll be DJing for Clocky with Danny Oliver so come and say hello if you spot us at any of the Clocky events. For Ibiza Pride 2023 and tickets for The Clockwork Orchestra follow the links here or on my Instagram @ djmikeyslade
Have a fantastic summer folks and I’ll be back again soon to share more about the new TV Series called Clubbed Together!
¡IBIZA!

THE POWER OF SENSUALITY
In the current exhibition at HMH Gallery in Port Andratx, 28 female artists show their art positions on the theme of „Absolute Feminine“.
On display are 42 works ranging from abstract, expressionist, informal and concrete to figurative, playful and oldmasterly, as well as consributions from pop art, comics and digital art.
But what does „absolutely feminine“ mean here? Does it refer to the design, the motifs? A different - female - way of looking at things?
Do women paint differently?
A first clue is given by the invitation card, on which a naked, voluptuous young woman is gleefully licking a red heart lollipop with a razor blade stuck in it.
The master pieces in oil by Lilli Hill ,
absolute feminin
WOMEN ONLY
Group exhibition @ Port Andratx
who is known for her polarising and humorous nude paintings, radiates a real power of sensuality.
Only at second glance do I discover the razor blade. Sensuality here probably means giving oneself completely and that can be very dangerous - love makes you vulnerable and yet it is the most beautiful and important thing in the world.
When asked why he chose this particular painting for the invitation card, gallery manager and curator Andreas Streicher says that it radiates the essence of the feminine: sensuality and power. In his opinion, female artists are usually more sensitive in their approach, colouring, design and subjects. Nevertheless, they are strong, powerful personalities by nature, otherwise they could not pursue this profession. The art world is still dominated by men, so it is important that women should be equally challenged and shown by galleries.
The first thing that catches my eye are the realistic works in the exhibition. Inga Mihailovic painted an impressive picture of world champion Michael Schuhmacher . The work appears light and airy despite contrasts of red &black. Lorena Steinmann ‘s Udo Lindenberg in street and pop art style is harmoniously and subtly coloured in black, white and steamed green-grey.
A two-meter-long American dollar note with a female likeness of the artist herself is Icon Zar ‘s Russian answer to American Popartincluding a lipstick kissing mouth and the message:
„ From Russia with Love “.
With both artists, there is no trace of garish pop art, as oftenshown by male colleagues. Sensual and humorous. Colourfully painted in pink and lilac and yet very sensitively, Judith Sturm ‘s „Sorbet Flamingos“ look out at the viewer. She works with oil paint and a salt technique that she herself calls „Informal Realism“.
Opposite the Sorbet Flamingos stands a chrome-plated larger-than-life flamingo sculpture by ZooZoo , whose sensitive handwriting always lends her animal figures grace and an endearing personality.
Using suminagashi, the special Japanese technique on silk, Yuko paints her wonderful flowing trees on water, creating extraordinary colour gradients and textures that create a meditative aura.
The large-format photographic art of Kristina Toussaint shows graceful, sensual women in the nature of Mallorca. Delicate and gossamer in powder tones, a cheerfully relaxed portrait of a girl by Beate Arens looks at us. She combines graphic elements in glaze technique withcollaged flowers. Directly opposite, in a similar, pastel colour scheme, is a collage of hundreds of small photos of Sophia Loren - the Italian icon, the epitome of sensuality and femininity.
A small, delicate yet powerful work. Mara ‘s colourful, comic-like lion‘s head consists of thousands of pointed dabs of colour placed next to each other a special technique that requires a lot of sensitivity and perseverance and is a real eye-catcher of the exhibition.
Katja Nordmeyer ‘s emotional portrait of Jeremy Meeks is characterised by a technique using filler and colours, the surface of which has become cracked and is intended to allude to fragility as well as transience.
Ulrike von Schrader ‘s expressionist painting of Iberian pigs seems somewhat removed from the subject matter, but a second glance reveals that females are certainly depicted here, for pigs are social animals that live in herds led by females. Speaking of pigs. A small sensa tion of the exhibition is the artwork „Green Eyed Creature“ by a female pig named Pigcasso
An informal floor installation with royal blue and black flowing structures by Alina Poloboc has a profound and mysterious effect. Likewise „Data“, a bright work in pastel and aquatones, which is com pletely inscribed with runes and made accessible by Eva Konya only to a small circle of initiates. It lives from the mysterious aura of the enigma and its ethereal painting style.
Sely ‘s mixture of tribal, street and pop art in the work „Resurection of Phoenix“, on the other hand, is absolutely powerful in its expression and at the same time feminine in its colouring. Finally, I would like to note the outstanding, concrete works of Petra Rös-Nickel . The colourful, but clearly structured arrangement of elongated colour fields is the clear signature of the etablished German painter. In my opinion, the work combines sense, sensibi lityc & power.
Painted and collaged into them is a larger-than-life Sophia with a pensive or dreamy look. An expressive work by Dagmar Ridky Susanne Stoffer‘s seascape „Water Street“ with green buoys reminiscent of vessels, a classic symbol of the feminine, has a more expressionistic effect. Inma Pascual ‘s watercolour painted koi are sweeping and harmonious.
The famous animal from Cape Town and its owner Joanne Lefson have been featured on television many times.
The exhibition includes other impressive abstract canvas works by Allegra Esclapon , Lisa Dehmel , Isolde Folger , Frauke Klatt , Brigitta Nottebohm , Donna Mc Cain , Gunda Jastorff , and Martina Wernicke , which are very finely and meticulously worked with delicate transitions.
I can agree more and more with Andreas Streicher. Women artists have a different view of things. The power of their work lies in the subtle and the delicate.
The exhibit ion „Absolute Feminine“ is worth a visit to let the works have a direct effect on you.

SOLLER VALLEY STORIES
by Soller Shirley
We are in the month of glory and beauty in the Soller Valley. Orange blossom and flowers of every colour and scent are all around us. Local gardeners do a great job but nature itself takes over the Valley and gives us carpets of flowers and late blossom. The brides of May and June often have orange blossom somewhere in their ceremony. Garlands in their hair or in their bouquets are tradition for a Soller bride. Where there is a wedding there is happiness and gatherings of family and friends. This is amazing to be part of and also to watch. The centre of Soller is a wedding venue almost every weekend of the summer.
Shirley Roberts
Celebrations start now and don’t finish until into October. Fiestas in Soller for the Moors and Christians, give way to all neighbouring Villages having their own three-day celebration, of life. This is accompanied by live music and many events, celebrated by all age groups. The beach comes into its own now and becomes the place to take that early evening stroll and stop for a drink or two. Sunset watching is a feature of the season and local children come out to have their beach time after school. The centre of town relocates for the summer months and takes its place all along the perfect horseshoe bay, which is the
Port of Soller. Watch out this month for the Painters who come our way and set up their easels where they find inspiration. By the seashore, in the centre of Soller, in Fornalutx Square, Binibassi and Biniaraix are all places our artists love. The ‘light’ of May and June is inspirational for this group, and we love to see them every year. They drink in the beauty and then replicate it in water colours. Weddings, art, flowers, and the concerts which can be found in our Churches and Cultural centres this month, make the Soller Valley an ‘Oasis of Culture’. Visit us soon…

The Global Wellness Market and The Future of Wellness in Mallorca in Mallorca
In the past two articles, I’ve tried to set the Wellness scene both internationally and in Mallorca. So you’ll be glad to know we have now covered the boring nitty gritty details and can now focus on the more fun stuff!
From here on I will be bringing you the latest news and activities from around the island of Mallorca.

From here on I will be bringing you the latest news and activities from around the island of Mallorca. I’ll be introducing you to some of the glorious hotels and wellness services we have to offer, some exciting experiences that might even get some of the old-school expats and locals excited, as well as introducing you to some very inspiring islanders working in the field of Wellness.
To start, I would love to share with you a wonderful Mindfullness Retreat I was invited to attend at the end of April, hosted and run by the brand-new Luxury 5 Star El Vicenc de la Mar Hotel & Spa in Cala San Vicenc. To say I was thrilled to be invited to this event so early in my official journey in the Wellness industry is an understatement.
We were welcomed by a super-friendly receptionist who greeted us with a lovely smile and genuine warmth on checking in.
We were then taken to our room - a deluxe room with very generously sized twin beds and a private pool on the 1st floor of the hotel. Our bags were waiting for us with two yoga mats, our itinerary for the weekend and a lovely hand-written welcome note. Walking out onto the terrace and looking across the pool, which was shared with five other rooms, the view over the small beach to the glorious turquoise sea with the mountain backdrop was a pleasure in itself! With only ten minutes to spare before the
introduction workshop began, we set off for the library to meet the other participants. We were part of a group of six, and whilst not wishing to go into too much detail, as this type retreat wouldn’t suit everyone’s taste, particularly some of the male readers of this column (but I’d love to receive their comments if they do read this, just to get an indication!), but to provide a brief overview, it was curated by a clinical psychologist and professional specialist in therapeutic Mindfulness retreats, Jose Luis Reig, the objective was to re-establish the connection between mind and body. The retreat included a workshop with insights into the latest scientific studies on neuroscience, which were fascinating, a workshop on the health benefits of quality sleep, and how to improve it, ‘Active Listening’ techniques (there are a number of people I can think of who perhaps need to participate in that…) and some guided Mindfullness sessions. In addition, we enjoyed three wonderful yoga and ‘gentle gymnastics’ sessions right beside the sea with the lovely professional dancer and yoga instructor Cristina Moreno. Such a heavenly spot!
One true highlight of the retreat was naturally the venue, in particular the food and the spa. As part of the Mallorca C Collection, the two Restaurants are run by the Michelin Star Santi Taura team.
activities at the El Vicenc de la Mar you can visit www.wellnesstraveller.co.
El Vicenc Weekend retreats start at €990 per person off-season - for this particular hotel as well as a wide selection of other hotels, experiences, and holistic therapies, please visit the new WellnessTraveller.co site. If you would like to contact me to share your wellness offerings, either as a service, an experiential provider, or because you would like to share your recommendations, I would be delighted to hear from you.
The retreat’s nutritional plan was curated by nutrition consultant Rosa Rullán and Clínica Morano, working with the Santa Taura team preparing it. It was lovely, but we weren’t necessarily here for a dietary plan, no matter how nice the one course was! We wanted to enjoy the menu as it’s not every weekend you can enjoy a menu prepared by a Michelin Star team. I’m pleased to report that the staff were super-flexible, and we were able to make our choice from the main menu, which we found delicious, including the dessert! Nothing wrong with a little of “what takes your fancy,” as my Mother would always say, even on a Wellness retreat. We were also given enough time to enjoy the Ç Wellness Studio, one of the most allinclusive spas in the north of Mallorca. It has everything you need to carry out a complete thermal circuit, including the 13-metre-long heated pool, cold water plunge pool, sauna, steam room and a treatment area. You can add to this a lovely lunch on the upper pool terrace and a few hours lying by the roof-top pool - all of this made up a perfect recipe for a blissful weekend. It’s also worth noting that this beautiful boutique hotel offers bicycle storage, a library and games room, and even a cinema. It’s a great new addition to the stunning array of hotels we now offer on the island, and one which I would highly recommend. For this and many other

Stronger & more powerful
Social Interaction
Spending time with friends and family in this challenging A. I. time of our human evolution has never been more important. Talking with our mouths, out loud, not just communicating by typing on a keyboard. Expressing ourselves and our feelings/ emotions to those that are willing to listen. Time in the company of more than 1 or 2 people, like in a group situation or a social meeting has so many profound benefits on all levels of our existence.
Nutrition
There is so much information out there on Nutrition that I feel I don’t need to go into it here. The old saying, “You are what you eat” rings true as much now as it did years ago. Start by planning your meals in advance. Make a list before going shopping. Also look at what you are eating, at what time of the day, and what type of food you begin with and follow up with. For me, the best thing I have ever done is Intermittent Fasting. It REALLY works!
Exercise / Movement
Twenty minutes, three times a week. That’s all you need to start. This is so important for ourselves to increase our power and strength. We have all heard and know the benefits of regular exercise. It is not a question of when you are going to start, but why haven’t you started already?
Sleep
Scientists state that sleeping six to seven hours a night is all we need. We find that we get sick less often, stay at a healthy weight, lower our risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease. Reduce stress and improve our mood. Think more clearly and do better in school and at work, get along better with people, + + +
Too much sleep, like eight hours plus is associated with Type 2 diabetes, Heartdisease, obesity, depression, headaches, back pain, upset body’s rhythms and increase daytime fatigue, + + + So, do your own research and work out what is best for you.

Daylight
Early morning sunlight, from 7am (or when it first appears) to 9am is ideal and helps generate Vitamin D. Many Yogic Traditions encourage this practice. The morning sun activates the production of serotonin in your body by triggering certain areas in our retina. The serotonin hormone is associated with boosting our mood and helping you feel calm and focused. The sun later in the day can be too strong to look directly into. So, it is best to avoid this. One way to know if it is to late is that it will hurt your eyes.
It also helps kill bacteria, reduces blood pressure, reduces the risk of cancer, strengthens your bones, helps sleep quality, hair growth, boosts those feelgood hormones, + + +

HIGHWAY TO A BETTER LIFE
How to Live a Harmonious Life
It could be said that a harmonious life is a balanced, pleasant, peaceful life... a life where you are in tune with yourself, surrounded by people with whom you have mutual affection and respect, where you can grow spiritually and intellectually, a life marked by serenity and contentment and where you feel appreciated, valued, understood and accepted.
I am Betina von Hohendorff certified as an NLP - Trainer / Ericksonian Hypnosis and Coach by Mindovers.
A harmonious life requires that you have compassion and respect for yourself and others, accept people as they are and listen with the intention to discover and learn new things, to understand, who the person in front of you really is.
To lead a more harmonious life it is important to:
Start by connecting with your inner self, get to know yourself, and define yourself as a person by learning virtues such as ethics, morals, honesty and humility. After connecting with yourself you will be able to better connect with friends, family, partners, neighbours, acquaintances, clients or with anyone who crosses your path. Focus your efforts on handling any disharmony in their lives in a generous and compassionate way and on giving back to the people in your community.
Also, do your best to maintain your own sense of harmony, as it will help you to feel in tune with others.
Being tolerant is an essential key to preserving harmony. It means being open-minded and accepting of others’ beliefs, opinions, and practices, this is respecting and valuing differences between people. It’s a great quality to have.
Being tolerant has many benefits, including:
· Helping people to live together peacefully.
· Encouraging personal development by being open to other ways of thinking.
· It can lead to a more positive environment with more open communication.
· It can lead to a more creative and innovative spirit in problem-solving and decisionmaking.
History has shown that human beings have succeeded in all conditions whenever they have lived in unison. The moment they were divided, they faced great consequences. So, stay united, grow together and maintain a harmonious relationship with everyone, which will undoubtedly benefit you and society.
Work-life balance management refers to how people manage the time they spend at work and the time they spend on other activities. Harmony between work and personal and social life involves incorporating work into the rest of life in a way that promotes happiness at home, in the social sphere and at work.
Leading a harmonious life is absolutely essential for happiness and fulfilment. To set better goals, to create better relationships, and to connect better with our inner selves.
Some things or people in life are bad and can make you really angry or terribly sad. Other things make you swear and curse. When this happens, don’t complain. Accept it as a learning experience or a test of your own emotional intelligence. This will help things go in a better direction. Amongst all of the bad, there is something
you have to learn. Always look on the bright side of life, there are people who suffer more than you. And always be grateful for what you have.
If life seems to be rotten, there’s something you’ve forgotten. And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing. And when you’re feeling down, always look on the bright side of life
Because life can be quite absurd. And death is the last word. You must always look at the curtain with a bow. Forget your sin, forgive and ask for forgiveness, and learn gratitude. Smile at the public who criticises you. You will see that everything is a show. Be happy while you are alive. And always remember that the last laugh is yours.
My Advice:
Trust that providence will give you what you really need in your daily life. Live without illusions and without the fear of not having enough.
Be grateful for everything, for the big things and the small things.
Avoid baseless criticism of others or slander and defamation. This will keep your mind at peace.
Live in harmony with nature. Give without expecting a thank you.
Be kind and generous to yourself and to others. And always look on the bright side of life.
Olvida tu pecado, perdona y pide perdón, aprende gratitud.

BOATS, BIKES AND AUTOMOBILES
Aside from the what I’ve always felt is the best time of the year in Mallorca, with warm spring sunshine, cool evenings and every flower in bloom, April for me always means a quick trip back to the chill of the UK for the annual Goodwood Members Meeting - a motor racing festival with an ancient modern twist on the fabled circuit, one of the fastest in the UK and famous for ending Stirling Moss’s competitive career when his Lotus left the track in the 1962 International 100 race for Formula One cars at the circuit’s fastest corner. It was all the more fun this year as my great chum Chris Scholey, the photographer behind many pictures featured in my articles for Celebrity Magazine, was racing
in the Stirling Moss Trophy, driving the family’s exquisite 1954 Jaguar XK120. Pooled with a host of much later and quicker AC Cobras, E-Types, Ferrari 250s et al, he was never going to win, but it added a great deal of flavour to this annual pilgrimage. Ex-Grand Prix drivers are plentiful at this meeting, a highlight being to see the delightful Riccardo Patrese driving one of a pair of Gordon Murray’s F1 championship-winning 1983 Brabham BT52s - one of the prettiest F1 cars ever made, alongside David Brabham in the other. Having worked in Formula One with Benetton in the 1990s, the intimacy of attending a modern Grand Prix has somewhat disappeared up the backside of ‘The Show’ - and I would
by Hamish Goddard
still choose Goodwood any day of the week over a contemporary F1 race meeting. Once back on the island, it was time to take part in the Mallorca 312 - one of the world’s longest and most well-attended cyclosportives, when over 8000 cyclists take on the Tramuntana for a closed road race over a number of different distances - 167, 225 or the full 312kms. Within my ‘Gin Lovers’ WhatsApp group, I chose to do the 167, being the limit of my current fitness level - and with temperatures pushing 30 degrees, it was still one of my hardest days on a bike. We all made it, although I was perhaps one of the few who sat down for lunch with a knife and fork in Lloseta with 50k to go, happily forgoing the chocolate
sandwiches in Bimbo bread (!) on offer at the chaos of the feed stations. All in all a brilliant day, with gratitude to those inconvenienced by the road closures in the Tramuntana, albeit it for one morning of the year.
The 312 took place plum in the middle of the Palma International Boat Show at which we at e3 Systems were amongst the 271 companies exhibiting.
Since the Covid epidemic - at last declared officially over by the WHO - the show seems to have renewed energy - and again in bright spring sunshine (do we still need to mention it?!), it was one of the best shows I can remember, with over 32,000 visitors and over 250 boats on display. So we move into May which for me means the Mallorca installment of the 6Points Challenges - a 3-day fun cycle ride over 430kms of the island, raising much needed money for various local charities. This sixth edition was oversubscribed very early on - cementing the island’s position as one of the best cycling destinations anywhere.
I’m leading a group this year for the first time - and greatly looking forward to the camaraderie that develops over the three days of this wonderful event. Last year’s ride took place in over 30 degrees throughout - and melted the soles off my shoes, literally. Let’s hope it’s a little bit cooler than that..

BARCOS, MOTOS Y COCHES

Property Market Update
The new housing law
by Laura Bonnín Olivares
Although today it is a draft law that has been sent to the Senate for final approval, there is no doubt that this is a mere formality once it has been approved by the Congress of Deputies.
The housing problem in Spain is obvious, as it is obvious that it needs a solution. This law affects the real estate sector and concentrates its efforts on regulating property rental in its entirety, from access to rental housing, price regulation and limiting evictions.
The control of rental housing focuses on the extension of the so-called stressed areas so that the measures envisaged are applied across the board, to the point of foreseeing the possibility of declaring the territory of an autonomous community to be a stressed area.
On the other hand, the concept of large holder is further developed in order to distinguish it from the small owner. Thus, the latter will be those who own less than 5 dwellings, while the former will be considered a large holder if they have the same or more dwellings in stressed areas or if they own up to 10 dwellings in nonstressed areas.
Undoubtedly, the star measure of this Law is related to the limitation of rental prices, to the point of decoupling their annual updates from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or establishing maximum prices in
new contracts depending on the area and/or the condition of the owner.
With regard to real estate intermediation, the Law will oblige owners to assume the cost of the intervention of professionals in the sector for the formalisation of contracts.
The Housing Act will be born with the status of imperative, in such a way that it will not be possible for the parties to reach agreements contrary to its content or to decide not to apply it. This is a measure that clashes headon with the current Law on Urban Leases and the principle of freedom of agreement between the parties or the autonomy of the will.
Finally, the Law provides for a series of protective measures against evictions, such as the need to establish a specific date and time for their execution, the introduction of new extensions for the eviction of the tenant or the obligation to resort to out-of-court procedures in the case of vulnerable people.
From a fiscal point of view, the regulation envisages granting tax benefits to small landlords with homes in stressed areas so that they make their homes available to tenants. However, if it is decided not to rent the property and to leave it empty or unused, the owners will see a considerable increase in their property tax rate through surcharges.
In view of the above, it is necessary to
analyse whether the measures envisaged will be effective in fulfilling the fundamental right of access to decent housing proclaimed in our Constitution and compatible with the characteristics of the real estate market. That there is an unequivocal will to protect the tenant is not debatable, as most of the measures have been introduced with this clear aim in mind. The problem may come from the lack of legal certainty for landlords, which, in the market of supply and demand, will result in a lack of supply of rental housing, to the detriment of the people it is intended to protect, the tenants.
In conclusion, the new regulation is intended to solve the housing problem, but there are doubts about the effectiveness of its measures in a property market such as the Spanish one, which is markedly private and family-oriented. The limitation to traditional renting may mean, as has been the case until now, that owners will look for alternatives in temporary or holiday rental contracts, especially if their position is not balanced with respect to the tenant, due to a lack of security in terms of non-payment and occupation.

Why Banks Should Just Be For Banking
Why take out your insurance policies with an insurance agent or broker instead of taking them from the bank? Darryl Lopez of DYLSI Agency talks us through everything we need to know about the insurance policies that banks provide and why they are not the best options.
By Ben Mulvey
Using a private insurance broker agent agent offers numerous advantages over relying on a bank for insurance. A private insurance broker agent agent serves as an intermediary between clients and the insurance company, providing personalised and comprehensive coverage options tailored to individual needs and also taking care of the things that they care about. Here are several reasons why using a private insurance broker agent or agent is preferable to utilizing a bank for insurance:
First and foremost, private insurance agents or brokers specialise in insurance services. They possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in the insurance industry that they
have studied, enabling them to navigate the complex landscape and identify the most suitable coverage options for their clients. Unlike banks, which primarily focus on financial services and whose staff are often incentivised to sell insurance policies with insufficient knowledge, insurance broker agents or agents have a deeper understanding of the terms and conditions and the applicable laws. More importantly, brokers or agents can help find the best way to process a claim to make sure that you are kept up-to-date and helps them through each step. Furthermore, they take the time to understand your unique circumstances, assess your needs, and recommend
appropriate coverage. Brokers handle policy renewals, claims processing, updating policies when you experience changes in their lives, and any other insurance-related issues, relieving you of administrative burdens. In contrast, banks often lack the personalised touch and comprehensive support that brokers offer, as their main focus is on financial transactions rather than insurance expertise. Another major reason that private insurance policies are normally significantly more expensive through the banks. A recent article estimated that banks sell life insurance policies that are 86% more expensive than through the insurers for exactly the same coverage. These banks
justify these charges by offering reductions in the mortgage rates or amounts but, with just some simple arithmetic, it is pretty easy to work out that even with these “savings”, an 86% increase in insurance premiums still means that the client will ultimately be paying more.
they are ‘linked’ or else they will increase the cost of the mortgage instalment. In these cases, it is advisable that you, first of all, review the mortgage contract, as this will establish the conditions of your mortgage and how complementary services such as insurance affect the interest rate.
It is possible that you already have or will soon have a relationship with the bank when buying a home and applying for a mortgage. Here are two situations that clients often find themselves in, and on many occasions, because they are unaware of their options and rights, they have to bear high costs as well as abusive/illegal practices on the part of the banks:
1) I need to obtain a mortgage for a home or premises, and the bank forces me to take out property insurance and life insurance with them, without giving me options. In this scenario, you should know that there are at least three laws in Spain that defend your interests against these practices: the bank cannot force you to take out an insurance contract, nor can it force you to take it out with the bank, it has to accept other alternative options as long as they have similar characteristics to the ones it has initially offered you. In this link, you can find more details of these three laws. At DYLSI Agency, we help you to negotiate with the bank and avoid falling into illegal practices, as well as paying high costs for insurance products, at no additional cost to our services.
2) I already have a mortgage and home and life insurance with the bank, but I can’t cancel them because I have been told that
In many cases, the cost of insurance with the bank is so high, that by doing some calculations, you realise that even changing the insurance to another entity, the reduction of costs, and the improvement in the coverage, totally compensate for the increase of the mortgage instalment. In other cases, there is not even an increase in the mortgage payment.
At DYLSI Agency, we help clients to review
their mortgage contracts, simulate costs and look for the best alternative, in addition, we guide them in communicating with the bank. It is really important that we all understand that banks are there for our banking needs and that when it comes to insurance, contact someone who really knows the best options available to you.
Darryl Lopez and his team at DYLSI are available to lead you through all of the insurance policies you need for a life in Spain from health insurance to car insurance, life insurance to contents insurance as well as business insurance solutions.

A new idea and a new way of seeing how we work in Clinica Veterinaria Bendinat
The idea: show, explain and follow interesting cases over time. How we work: Cristina, Antonio and I will present these cases. I’m starting off with a common orthopaedic condition. A common footballer’s injury, not that many of our dogs (and less frequently cats) play football. But any nasty, excessive twisting movement or even a fall can provoke this injury: a “ruptured cranial cruciate ligament”.
another interesting case. Til next month, keep fit, and be happy. Clinica Veterinaria Bendinat Team.

Zeus- torsion and post-op complications!! Tevi / Trevi cat
Rosie the dog is a young, happy-go-lucky Dobermann who loves running around the park with her owners all day. However, one day Rosie’s owners noticed that she was limping and couldn’t walk properly. They immediately took her to the clinic, and we examined her leg thoroughly. Upon examination, I found that Rosie had torn the ligaments in her leg (see diagram 1), which caused her pain and discomfort
while walking. I knew that this was a serious issue and needed to be fixed immediately. In small breeds, we can treat them with rest and painkillers but in large dogs like Rosie, there is a lot of pain and instability in the knee joint. This can lead to very debilitating arthritis when they are older. So we discussed the available treatment options with Rosie’s owners and suggested that they go for surgery.
There are several surgical options for this injury, and they all have very good results but because Rosie is a large breed of dog we decided to call in Ricardo, a specialist orthopaedic surgeon.
After consent from the owners, we scheduled the surgery with Ricardo’s team. They come and operate in our operating theatre with an anaesthetic specialist, a team of two extra nurses and Ricardo. He performed a “stronger fix” with a titanium plate and screws. The surgery went well (see the x-ray), and Rosie was up and running in no time (see the video of a few days later at her check-up). Cristina, Antonio and I took special care of Rosie post-surgery, monitored her progress daily, and prescribed medication and a rehabilitation program to help strengthen her muscles and prevent further injury.
Our goal is to ensure that all pets receive the best possible care and treatment. We understand that each pet has unique needs and personality traits that require individualised attention. This is why we work closely with our clients to ensure that every pet receives the best care. Next time we’ll update you on Rosie and
