On reflection, summer 2017 has certainly been a better season than most expected, and the good new is that businesses can hopefully look forward to an even greater up-turn for this coming autumn and winter season. Certainly here at Celebrity we have been busy and we have to ask ourselves – just how many parties and social events can there be in one month? Since our August issue we have seemingly been rushing from one event to another – in this issue you will see our remarkable coverage of our visit on board the warship HMS Duncan. Probably this alone defines more than usual how our articles and features bring forward Celebrity’s professional approach, again bringing you the real and glossy images of all the spectacular and interesting happenings we have attended. The recent ‘Fashion Week Spectacular’ was yet another interesting and demanding assignment. Celebrity receives top exclusive invitations to all of the ‘must have’ number-one premier parties, enabling us to bring you the most amazing photographs and top reports on fashion, celebrities, restaurants, beach venues and entertainment, whenever or wherever it happens – as it happens. One of the more sedate and cultural events during the month was the ‘Concert from the Moon to the Vines’ – a total classical experience in surroundings that just melted the most hardened of hearts. And so the assignments have just gone on and on – hard work yes, but for us an opportunity to show true professional results in our articles and features. Celebrity’s team experience starts years before this magazines first publication. Prior to this our photography was already heralded, working with major publications throughout the UK, travelling abroad on many world-breaking news stories. On the show-business aspect we have worked on the sets of ‘James Bond’ movies. Plus promotional photo-shoots for many of the ‘Bond Girl’ actresses and numerous more glamorous assignments promoting movies, top television series and their stars. Countless model and fashion shoots throughout Europe. Trips galore to Miami (even being awarded the ‘Golden Key to the City’ and ‘Honorary Citizenship to Miami Beach’). All this plus the many trips to Las Angeles covering top stories and promotional photo-shoots. Even working personally, one to one, with stars such as Rod Stewart (both throughout USA and Europe). One special assignment was working with Bob Geldof (now Sir’) on the legendary ‘Live-Aid’ Charity Concert, travelling by helicopter to photograph those appearing, the worlds most famous stars of the music industry, flying to their homes, even bringing them to Wembley, top exclusive photographs. Also being commissioned by a top U.K. publication working on location in the luxurious ‘wealthy playground’ resort of Maui, Hawaii. Here again taking photographs of famous television personalities – all true world-class professional photographic assignments. Meanwhile Celebrity Magazines success continues largely due to its modern approach, its honest outlook and up-to-date true features and interviews. Our own personal coverage of events, lifestyle and celebrations encompass all the happenings around us which translate into reality with our inspirational and professional photoshoots of the social scene, of people and all the amazing episodes we witness. IF IT’S NOT IN Enjoy, be informed and completely indulge yourself in these present stylish years where the trend certainly seems to be upwards – think good thoughts, think Celebrity.

WARSHIP, MISSILES & COCKTAILS

Photograph MOD

After a deployment of over three months the HMS Duncan, one of Britain’s most powerful and advanced warships, is finally home in Portsmouth. The type 45 destroyer had been at sea as the ‘flagship’ leading a huge NATO task force through one of the largest naval exercises ever staged in the Black Sea. On her way home, berthed here for a brief stop-over, the officers and crew were able to relax and enjoy shore leave after their hectic few months at sea. During their visit, Commodore James Morley and Captain (Commander) Eleanor Stack were able to stand down from their official war status and host a superb Cocktail Party for one hundred of the local community, including guests from several charities, city authorities and official military representatives. The party, held on the deck alongside the destroyers Wildcat helicopter, was certainly appreciated by its guests, the officers and crew without doubt put on a splendid show. The special highlight being the ‘Ceremonial Sunset’ - the lowering of the Ships Ensign, a magnificent tradition that goes back centuries, to the days of the early British sailing fleet of 18th century. With guests assembled at the stern on the helipad, we watched as The Officer of the Watch, Lt Ryan Greig called out the guard, marching towards the Ships Ensign. With the sun almost set and against a backdrop of dazzling cruise ships and the silhouette of the citys spectacular architecture, this amazing naval tradition was superbly executed. HMS Duncan is one of six Type 45 Destroyers which are the very backbone of the Royal Navy, committed around the world 365 days a year their mission is to shield the Fleet from air attack using her Sea Viper missile system, which can knock targets out of the sky up to 70 miles, (HMS Duncan is also the first of the Type 45 class to be capable of deploying Harpoon Missiles). On my tour around HMS Duncan I was shown the weapons system, the most remarkable was what we would all call the ‘war room’ (sorry, no photographs). Deep inside the ship, what looks more like the deck from the television Sci-fi series ‘Star Trek’, a module of over twenty computer stations – the front unit being a huge curved consul, seating three. The Captain in the centre chair position with an adjoining consul each side of the Captain being taken by senior weapons officers, each position with their own multi screens and control systems. One side being the ‘air’ defence/attack station, the other the ‘surface’ defence/attack station, and to the right of them a third weapons officer on a separate consul who arms and selects the weaponry on the Captains command. On the more conventional side, the Destroyers 4.5in main gun, found on the forecastle is the most obvious provider of punch and firepower. The gun can fire twenty-four high explosive shells per minute, weighing more than 40kg at targets more than a twelve miles away. In this role the gun is capable of firing the equivalent of a six-gun shore battery. Another weapon shown to me was the ‘Phalanx’ (one positioned each side of the ship), this being the deadly last line of defence for the warship. Capable of engaging targets one mile away, it is a radar-controlled Gatling-Gun which fires 20mm shells, spewing out 3,000 rounds a minute, creating what my accompanying officer called ‘a total wall of steel’. Designed to engage incoming enemy aircraft and missiles should they ever penetrate the ships (or task group’s) outer ring of defences – “but of course that would never happen,” I was assured with a smile.

Special thanks to the Commodore James Morely, Captain Eleanor Stack, the Officers and crew of HMS Duncan – a great party – held by very professional people. Continued overleaf

The port became the amazing location for the ‘Fashion Week’ spectacular that is becoming the new rage of Europe. With a mini village of white marquees and a huge catwalk and fashion complex being erected it completely transformed the esplanade of Moll Vell’s Restaurant area (The Golden Mile) into a top international fashion venue. With staged seating for one thousand people and a huge lit-up red-carpeted catwalk you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Milan or New York. Concert from the

It was a rather special evening, something unique, actually something quite exceptional – a musical evening that literally oozed an ambience and atmosphere, which you could never have expected! Amongst the sell-out audience, exceeding the expected one thousand by an extra hundred or more, there was a tense stillness, a quiet apprehension. Those with high expectations and waiting to witness a musical classic were not to be disappointed. Musical director Pablo Mielgo raised his baton and instantly brought his Balearic Symphonic Orchestra to life – the huge orchestra of musicians suddenly became as one – dynamic percussion, rousing strings, with moments of sublime lushness and then taking his audience into feelings of excitement. To witness the styling of this musical maestro and the amazing performance each musician gave individually and how they come together with one sound was amazing. The stories behind the musical pieces also add feelings of happiness or drama, all enhanced by the amazing backdrop of the setting. The venue was full to capacity, people were seated in the open-air enjoying the evening’s warm temperature in the vineyard of Bodegues Macia Batle. You cannot help but feel a little special here while you sit back and enjoy the music. The soloist, the Flamenco singer, Trinidad Montero, eventually came on stage and joined musical director Pablo. It was easy to see the close relationship between conductor and soloist, at times Pablo singing his heart out from his podium as if actually trying to accompany his singer. Trinidad’s voice mesmerised and often astounded us all – again she became part of the one – part of the orchestra, her pure voice feeling each note of the music, she was luminous.

Moon to the Vines

We have been to several symphonies, but have never witnessed a sight like this. Pablo passionately wove together the stories and emotions as no doubt the composers had originally intended. From Pablo, the baton of a consummate conductor, he produced such inspiration, the musicians complementing the scenic location and ambience of the vineyard, making it a truly magical evening. Ultimately as the baton was laid to rest there was a standing ovation - fine art never sounded so good. The location, the vineyard, is beautiful and it doesn’t seem like there’s a bad seat in the house. Lined theatre style seating or more casually seated in groups around huge wine barrels (your choice) enjoying a glass of wine and snacks supplied freely within the cost of your ticket from one of the many mini marquees. To change the whole tempo of the evening, after a short break, it was the turn of the acclaimed group ‘Supervoices’ to take the stage and entertain the audience. Whilst they could be considered not to be within the same appreciative catchments grouping, the six singers (without accompanying music) were extremely well received, hugely talented and entertaining, another very successful part of the evening. Ramon Servalls, the managing director of Macia Batle was obviously pleased with the evening, held on behalf of the charity Hogares Aynewasi, he said how they had organised for one thousand guests but the response was so great they had quickly printed two hundred more tickets. A truly amazing evening, one that we would eagerly recommend. Continued overleaf

Copa del Rey 2017

The Kings Cup – The Copa Del Rey. One of the most prestigious international yachting events in the world – is held here at Club Nautico in the islands capital. This year the regatta even surpassed the dreams and hopes of the organisers. Celebrating the 36th Copa del Rey, the largest fleet ever to have taken place within the history of the event raised their sails in Mallorca, over one hundred and thirty world class yachts and their crews competed in the ten cup winning categories. Top teams from throughout the yachting world gathered here in Palma, the very elite and the best crews of the professional circuits, made up over twenty-four different nationalities. They were all here to sail for the top awards – this was to be one of the most competitive and challenging regattas ever to be held. With HRM.King Felipe V1, as helmsman of Aifos (BMW Orc1 Class), the regatta was already achieving all the glamour and status of a Hollywood movie. Amongst the tangle of hundreds of crewmembers and support staff, celebrities from many nationalities constantly visited the port. Besides the competing crews and support technicians, over two hundred port staff worked tirelessly to help organise and smooth out the troubling logistics. It was non-stop action with yachts docking, leaving and crews changing sails, support staff jostling to make repairs and equipment being ferried backwards and forwards, then with visiting celebrities and of course the press in attendance - the whole event was like a huge film set. We have reported on the Copa Del Rey many times over the years and the attendance of King Felipe is paramount, his devotion to and participation in the actual sailing gives the event a Royal splendour that cannot be over estimated. Possibly the only sadness was the absence of His Majesty Juan Carlos, another enthusiastic sailor who alongside his son, HRM King Felipe, previously competed here in both the islands Breitling Regatta and the Copa Del Rey, with the two Royals together, it truly was a golden age.

The attendance of His Royal Majesty King Felipe at the Copa del Rey is essential to the prestige and status of this event; luckily for Mallorca the King is both an ardent fan of sailing and also of this island. He maintains the casual air that his father King Juan Carlos established with the crews, King Felipe is highly respected amongst the international crews as an astute helmsman and yachtsman.
