Students complete the 22 credits required for a North Carolina high school diploma. Credit may be awarded for courses completed at the student’s original high school. Registration and orientation sessions are held twice a month at the Wilmington campus. Classes operate year round.
Required credits: 4 English credits, 4 Math credits, 4 Social Studies credits (including US History 1 and 2), 3 Science credits, 6 electives, 1 Health and PE credit.

We offer a variety of traditional and online courses to help prepare students to take the official GED® Test. These classes are offered morning, afternoon, and evening at all CFCC campuses and also at off campus

locations. Test prep is taught in the four subject areas: math, reasoning through language arts, social studies, and science. Eligible students attending classes receive the GED® Ready test for free (a $24 value). Scholarships are also available for eligible students for the official GED® Test ($20-$80 depending on the award). DEFENSIVE DRIVING - EIGHT HOUR COURSE
This course is used extensively for court referrals, as a diversion program for drivers with excessive violations, and to retrain drivers with poor driving records. This course addresses the attitudes of drivers so participants can see that their choices have financial, legal, and personal consequences. Wilmington Campus.

Barbering Practice & Theory II
This course is the introduction to the theory and basic applications of Barbering. It introduces the history and basic barbering concepts and applications. Theory topics include history of barbering, professional image, bacteriology, implements, tools, and equipment, properties and disorders of the skin, shampooing hair and scalp treatments, shaving and facial hair design, and men’s haircutting and styling. Practical application topics include shampooing and hair and scalp treatments, shaving and facial hair design, tapered hair cutting, hair styling of men and women, the analyzing and treatment of hair and skin disorder, facial massage and packs, bleaching, frosting, hair coloring and body permanents, and men’s hair pieces.
Barbering Practice & Theory III
This course concludes the theory portion of the barbering program and builds on the basic barbering concepts and practicums introduced in Barber I and Barber II. Theory topics include anatomy and physiology, chemistry, electricity and light therapy, finger waving, men’s hair, air waving and curling techniques. This applications portion of this course provides more concentrated focus on live models in a barber shop simulated setting. Phlebotomist are healthcare professionals who draw blood samples from patients or donors. They often handle and process blood for lab tests, transfusions, research or donations. The Emergency Medical Responder course prepares the EMR student to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMRs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, and special considerations for working in the prehospital setting. Who Should Attend: All persons who are employed or wish to be employed as detention officers at local confinement facilities are required by the Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission or the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission to successfully complete this course. The basic standard operating procedures for local confinement facilities, the role and responsibilities of professional detention officers will be covered. This course employs lecture, discussion, demonstration and practical exercises. Course Requirements: Attendance is required at all class sessions. The student must score a minimum of 70% on written tests and/or practical exercises for each block and score a minimum of 70% on the final Commission-administered written exam. All students confirmed for this course are required to provide a completed Medical History Statement (F-1) and Medical Examination Report (F-2), unless they have been grandfathered by the NC Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission. The Diesel Mechanics program will provide hands-on, work-based training experience and the classroom curriculum required for careers in diagnosis and repair of the electronics, engines, and various equipment in medium/heavy duty trucks. The program curriculum incorporates lecture and lab activities correlated around competencies in: maintenance and inspection of heavy-duty diesel engines, technical, operational, and diagnostic skills of diesel electrical systems, power train units, steering and suspension components, brakes, electrical and fuel systems. 684 hours | Burgaw Center
Safety and Preventative Maintenance
This course covers workplace safety, safety data sheets, basic systems, terminology, and the proper use of tools related to the diesel industry and how to recognize potential safety risk. Topics include PM programs, services, schedules and DOT inspection requirements for highway vehicles. Upon completion of this course, the student will recognize potential safety risk, demonstrate safe work practices, use basic tools and complete PM services provided by manufacturers and specific equipment requirements. Production Technician Training - NEW PROGRAM!
Production Technicians perform equipment setup, operation, equipment adjustments and minor preventative maintenance tasks to meet all standards for safety, quality and efficiency. They run tests on all assemblies and equipment to test for safety and productivity before they are put into production. In this 120 hour program, students will focus on Industrial Safety, Manufacturing and quality processes, and maintenance processes. Additional certifications will be earned for OSHA 10, Hazwoper 8 hour, CPR/AED/First Aid, and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Additional training in Industrial Math, Safety, blueprint reading, and interviewing/resume skills will be provided to prepare candidates for an entry-level job with local area manufacturers who are expanding their workforce. CFCC Continuing Education Welding Program The program consists of three courses of specialized classroom and practical hands-on training in the laboratory. Students will learn fundamentals of safety, blue print reading, and specific metal cutting and welding processes. Waste Water Treatment Operator III & IV
Interested in obtaining your licensure in Wastewater Treatment? Water and wastewater treatment plant and system operators typically do the following: Add chemicals, such as ammonia or chlorine, to disinfect water or other liquids.
