Medical Coding program.
Wilmington Campus | 36 hours | $130
Principles of Medical Coding Program Overview
Medical billers and coders play a vital role in the connection between health care providers, patients and insurance companies. As a medical biller and coder, you’ll need to read patient charts to determine medical history, including diagnoses and treatments given. Based on these charts, you’ll use a set of established medical codes in order to transcribe patient history into a type of “shorthand” that will be used by both health care providers and insurance companies. This program consists of four core classes and a certification exam review class. The goal is to prepare students to take the CPC (Certified Professional Coder) inpatient coding certification exam through the AAPC (American Association of Professional Coders). This program is recommended for those with healthcare experience principally in areas such as billing, finance, insurance coding, reimbursement, abstracting, etc.
