Gibbons Grateful

GRATEFUL GIBBONS

Of the many words that come to mind to describe the 2019-2020 academic year at Gibbons, none is as poignant, telling, or accurate than “different”. It was, to be sure, a year unlike any other.

From all that was different about the year, however, came a sense of profound gratitude. For it was the absolute gratitude we exhibited as a community that not only enabled us to survive but to grow.

Much of that growth was due to the leadership of Interim Principal Nancy Barkan, who together with Assistant Principals Mike Rogosich ’90 and Mike Curatolo, propelled Gibbons forward. Under their guidance, Gibbons students and educators challenged themselves to take risks, pursue novel ideas, and work together for a shared purpose – to love, support, and inspire one another – to stand together as a family.

Last winter, we also announced that Jeff Bell would become Gibbons’ first-ever Head of School. In doing so, we usher in a new chapter in our school’s storied history and ensure that Gibbons will continue to forge ahead.

So much has happened in the past year that has influenced our future, more clearly defined the meaning of the Gibbons spirit, and kept us forever moving forward. Since the coronavirus forced our doors shut last March, we have rebounded first with distance learning and now with hybrid learning options.

Today, our doors are open. This past year has shown us that in our hope lies our ambitions and our dreams.

The pandemic has reshaped our traditional modes of academic and social engagement. Gibbons excels at educating students and preparing them for a life of promise.

And you, dear donors, have made it possible to continue to move ahead. Your generous and continued support has enabled our school to live out its mission of transforming lives through faith, service, and leadership.

For that, we are forever Gibbons Grateful.
