he Mirinda Miss Teen 2015 grand finale was held last month in a very big and massive party that went down at Kati Kati Restaurant grounds. It was a fun filled event as the young beautiful angels battled it out for the grand prize in a colorful pageant. Lots of performances from local artistes like A Pass, Irene Ntale, Mun G, Lilian Mbabazi and jokes from comedian Ehmah Napoleone who excited the crowd.

But like we all know, there could only be one winner who was none other than Venessa Nansove from St Josephs Nsambya. She was crowned by her predecessor miss Kezza Namazzi. Budesian Kyagera of Rubaga Girls School and Sandra Murungi of Eden International School Mbarara were the first and second runners up respectively.

he Bayimba International Festival that is held annually every September, in Kampala, has become one of th events that is marked on everyone's calendar as a "not to miss" event. The event brings together multi-talented people in all arts from all over Africa. It kicked off with superb performances from Ugandaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s veteran Raggae star Maddox Sematimba and fast rising gospel singer Levixone Lala who raised the bar so high for the other performers. The festival complete with a package of music, dance, theatre, film, and visual

Sunday was the climax of the event which was highlighted with Naava Grey serenading the crowd with her lovely voice and masterly control of rhythm before Radio and Weasel sent the crowd into overdrive.

Pallaso Holds

Pallaso, who is known for his time with Team No Sleep and hits like "Go Down Low" with Sheeba Karungi, held his first ever concert last month. The concert dubbed "Twatoba" had Freedom City, on Entebbe road, filled to Capacity. Pallaso, who was surprised by the turn up, thanked his fans for their support. There were many curtain raisers and colleagues who came to support him as well, giving the audience a variety of entertainment. Among those who put up some energetic performances were Minayo, Bitone Bitone, Tip Swizzy, Guvnor, Geo Steady, Beenie Gunter, Red Banton and Pastor Wilson Bugembe who prayed for the industry and blessed the crowd.

CONCERT First Concert Ghetto President H.E Bobi Wine and his deputy the soulful Nubian Lee warmed up the crowd for the man of the night to take center stage. UGANDA ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS The first edition of Uganda Entertainment awards had lots of surprises. The ceremony saw several artistes walk away with awards in various categories. Apass walked away with the best dance hall artiste, Levixone Lala was voted the best gospel artiste while Douglas Lwanga took the best male entertainment TV presenter.

ccording to the director of Uganda Entertainment Awards, Vincent Nsubuga, the main aim of coming up with these awards is to create a platform for all entertainers not only to be rewarded for their efforts but to also encourage them to work harder. “I saw that there was something missing in the entertainment industry. If the Nigerians have MTV or Channel O, why then wouldn’t we have our own version of the same awards that reward the deserving entertainers for their contribution towards the entertainment industry. This would also help them work even harder.” He said. Other notable winners of the evening include David Lutalo who beat Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleon, Kenzo and Radio and Weasel for the Male artiste of the year category while Sheeba was voted the best female artiste. The best music video went to Sitya Loss, Neesim took the producer of the year, Best TV programme went to Sqoop on Sqoop and Urban Tv took the best TV station category. For the first time in Uganda, the night’s MC was Nigerian renowned TV presenter, E-Hiz, who took to the stage at 10pm clad in fitting black pants, black suede jacket and a white shirt. He joked about Ugandan men and pulled some dance strokes that kept the crowd fired up. He even engaged in different topics about the Ugandan society throughout the evening that one would think he’s been in Uganda

Some of the winners who didn’t show up include Ann Kansiime (best female comedian), Salvado(best male comedian), King Saha(R&B), CBS (Best Radio station), Sam Bagenda (Best actor), Flavia Tumusiime(best female radio presenter),and Goodlyfe (Best group) among others. There were performances by Minayo, Toniks and Maurice Kirya but it was Reggae maestro Madoxx Ssematimba who wowed the audience with his tracks Oluyimba and Easy Having started late, the ceremony ended at 3am with the last award given out with just a handful of people still around. In fact, David Lutalo declined to sing because of the few people around.

he Mixtape party happened last Saturday at Laftaz swimming pool. A lot of Djs and musicians were there to represent. The night that pulled a massive crowd, was aimed at launching the annual mixtape by Dj Roja and Dj Slick Stuart.

They played a combination of Dancehall, old school Ugandan music, RnB, Hip Hop and many other genres. The night had several MCs that spiced up

This gave the performers of the night more hype. There were several sponsors including Kagwirawo Sports Betting, MTN, Smirnoff, Silk Events, Galaxy Fm, Kadanke Events and Power Horse. MTN bought more than 1,000 Mixtapes to give away on their campaigns and events.

Several artistes including Vampino, Maro, Yung Mulo, Aziz Azion, Party Pipo, Myko Ouma, Levixone, Feffe Bussi and Apass performed. The biggest performance of all was by dancehall star APass who drove fans crazy with songs like Tuli Kubigere, Love Infection, Memories and Mutuwulira featuring DJs Slick Stuart and Roja. The Mixtape party ended at around 1:30 am and the party went on nonstop till late.

Mesach Semakula thanked the Katikiro who was making a rare appearance at a music concert for honouring the invitation and praised him for being hard working and a man of the people. He explained this while giving a brief back ground of how he met the Kabaka’s right hand man as a practicing lawyer whose services he sought and was surprised by the ‘down to earth’ nature he exhibited.

Going by the huge numbers that have always been gracing Mesach’s previous album launches, this year’s concert was fairly attended but it never deterred him from showcasing his best. Clad in a white kanzu with a brown back-cloth coat and craft shoes, the former Pearl of Africa Music awards winner took to the stage at exactly 10pm with ‘Nyimbile Omutanda’ track that got the crowd on their feet to sing along. He then returned, this time round putting on a white sparkling gown with grey pants and white shoes and performed songs like ‘Mpale Mbaya, Sigwe Ansimila, Kyalimpa, Oseka ki, Tumutendereze, First

Before Mesach came on stage, Golden band artistes like Doreen Mutiibwa, Dr Hilderman, Stecia Mayanja, Catherine Kusasila performed and so did Haruna Mubiru, Phina Masanyalaze, Abdu Muulasi, Bebe Cool and aspiring Mayor Ragga Dee who spent most of his time asking for votes and freestyling what he will do when elected in power.

The Katikiro speaking in luganda also said, the Kabaka and the entire Buganda kingdom was proud of what the local artistes are doing in trying to make an honest living while contributing positively in the growth and development of the Kingdom and country at large.

He called on the katikiro to launch the song and narrated some touching story about their relationship. “You know him as the Katikiro of Buganda but I think of him as my guardian. The Katikiro who was in the company of Kingdom officials including some ministers cracked up the crowd when he made a dig at local diva Desire Luzinda when he said that by Kitone he was talking about 'real talent' and not what the likes of Desire Luzinda are singing now, which sent the crowd into wild bouts of laughter. The Katikiro speaking in luganda also said, the Kabaka and the entire Buganda kingdom was proud of what the local artistes are doing in trying to make an honest living while contributing positively in the growth and development of the Kingdom and country at large. Mesach said the Katikiro played a very huge role in his life and was so grateful for that before he performed ‘Omwana Wa Muteesa nakulwala’, the title track of the album fifteen minutes to midnight

All roads led to the National Museum for the tenth edition of blankets and wine. The weather was perfect and the Kitante based venue was filled to capacity as early as 4pm as revellers sauntered in with their Blankets and Wine, dressed in multi-colored outfits, large sun glasses and even larger hats.

One of the major highlights of the event was when the amazing Lillian Mbabazi took center stage after Apass’ performance as the crowd settled in. From start to finish, the soulful singer nailed all aspects that one would imagine or think of. Her

performance was so energetic as it blended Afro-soul vocals with some RnB and Afro-beat that run chills through several fans who were already ululating and cheering. Her awesome composition was one of those things that left the crowd over excited.

Lilian performed both her old and new songs. She also threw in a few Blu*3 songs before guitar Maestro Myko Ouma and Weasel joined her on stage. They took it to the next level with some electric cut-ins as they performed ‘vitamin’ and ‘Where you are” Lilian then opened the stage to her fans who pulled off magnificent Ndombolo strokes that sent the crowd into over drive before concluding her session to allow Zahara take over. Zahara who flew in with her band started by thanking Ugandans for inviting her and giving her te opportunity to showcase her talents. She performed some soulful ballads accompanied by her lively back-up singers and then went into a marathon of songs for close to 2 hours performing song after song. The evening’s proceedings were later handed over to the DJs’ led by Hypnotic and Aludha who took the afterparty session till late in the night.

know for a fact that there are a few genuine people or artistes in politics because they support NRM or any political party that will pay them. Most of them are very broke people just looking for money and survival. One thing you should know is that most of these local artistes are very broke, so they will go where ever they are asked to campaign just for the money and survival but not because they love doing it. So, they should not lie to you that they support so and so when they are into it just for the money. However, people like Bebe Cool are into this for real. We all know that he comes from a family that is into politics like his father, Jaber Bidandi Sssali, although he doesn’t agree with him on certain things. Bebe Cool is genuinely into politics. Remember the scandal in Mbarara? He had issues with organisers of the event and refused to perform because Amama Mbabazi was the chief guest. Bebe Cool walked off the stage. That incident alone was enough to prove that he has strong beliefs and that he is

I am still trying to figure out Ragga Dee. I do not think he is serious and I strongly feel that he is in it for the money. I think he will get to a certain level and quit but then again he might surprise us. N’Dour, then aged 52, maintained he was forced into politics by circumstances: the reigning president Abdoulaye Wade had attempted to change the constitution to allow himself a third term. Whereas the masses heralded him as a new beacon of hope for Senegal, political analysts pointed out that his main challenge was to translate his international popularity into votes. Indeed he never lasted that long. His candidacy was disqualified before polls on a technicality. N’Dour then backed eventual poll winner, Macky Sall who when elected president, appointed him (N’Dour) first minister for culture and tourism. The singer lost interest shortly after taking the ministerial post. He is back on world music tours.

Closer to home, Charles Senkubuge “siasa”, a colourful stage actor and radio presenter stood for presidency in 2001 much to the surprise of many. Before they could hit the campaign trail, he quit the race citing death threats and refunded the Electoral Commission's money. It later emerged that the stance was just one of his clowning antics to attract fans to theatre where he enjoyed cultic status. Whereas music and theatre is a great recruiting tool used by all sides of the political spectrum to transmit ideology, it appears those behind these forms of persuasive arts aren’t really keen on benefitting through political office. They look to milk from their talent monetarily.

There are some exceptions. A few musicians have made it to the very top of national politics. In her song, NRM Paka last, she calls president Museveni, baby face. Kalifah Aganaga also has two songs, “Akazindaalo” and “Mpagira Gwe”. Dancehall singers, Buchaman and

Ziza Bafana have weighed in too. Buchaman’s “Mr Yellow” and Bafana’s “Tumulonde” and “Agende” are one of the many songs due to come up during this busy political period. It hasn’t always turned rosy. Northern Ugandan musician Bosmic Otim composed a song popularising President Museveni during the 2006 campaign in northern Uganda. To date, he is still demanding for Sh200m which he claims was payment for the ‘Mzee Wakazi’ song. “Before composing the song, I requested for Sh200 million and Brig Awany with other NRM cadres agreed to pay me that amount. However, the only money I was given was Sh500,000 to facilitate recording of the song,” Otim complained.

Iryn Namubiru is one of Uganda's top female singers who started music way back in Namasagali College after teaming with friend Juliana Kanyomozi with whom they formed the R&B all-girl group called I-Jay. She has always had a passion for singing since her childhood and has strived to make this talent a bigger part of her life. Her hard work and persisitence has propelled her to become one of the best in the country and she is still going strong. We had a chat with her. Chano8: We have seen your videos and listened to your new songs like Anjagala, Byansi and recently Nsula Wuwo, are you planning on releasing more projects this year? Yes I have done a number of songs recently but that does not always call for a big concert. If there is anything coming up you will know in time. For now I am concentrating on creating new sounds. Chano8: I think Nsula Wuwo, is going to be a big hit because of the groovy beats, who wrote and produced it. Any reviews so far from the public? Thank you! Well, I hope it does become a big hit. NSULA WUWO was Written by Nince Henry and Produced by D-king. Its' getting good reception so far. Chano8: You have been seen in photos with your children and I must say they are cute. So how do you manage to juggle family, a chaotic music industry and career? How often do you check? Thanks for the compliment. I always have time for my children and my base is in France. I share the time between music and my children equally. One month elsewhere and one month with my children. So it's six months with my children though not consecutively. I organise myself like any other working mother. Chano8: Do you mind sharing some photos of you and your children with the public?

Yes I do mind. I do not want to put them out there in the lime light all the time. And just because I do not expose their lives does not mean they do not have things going on in their lives. Once in a while I share though. Chano8: A lot of new fresh talent has since emerged in the music industry and competition is stiff. What is your take and how do you plan to stay relevant? There will always be new talent and people will always be unique in their own ways. Every single artist has their chance to shine just like every artist at one point will hit a low. I do not see it as competition and I embrace new sounds and genres as a lover of music. I only stay true to my passion and sing what I like. Chano8: You have been part of the struggle that has brought the Ugandan music industry to this level where artistes are being given international recognition in form of nominations, awards and concerts. What is your take? It always feels good to be recognised for the

UNBELIEVABLE AS FOMO grips There is a new musical fad in town. It is the Fear of Missing out (FOMO) on signature music festivals in town.

ou donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t need to be a music professor to realize that Ugandans have developed a fear of missing out on these festivals.

These are fast taking over from mainstream concerts as the entertainment of choice. They have unwavering converts too. Even when you thought some of these festivals are slightly overpriced than your average concert, the crowds are a constant and the corporate sponsors jostle to be part of them. Music festivals bring the best. The 10th edition of the Blankets and Wine festival was priced at sh80, 000 (advance booking) and sh100, 000 at the entrance, but the crowds were a constant. That the organizers this year went for Zahara (Bulelwa Mkutukana) one of Africa's most promising organic performers with a husky voice, proved just how much thought they put in the festival. The artiste, who has been associated with acts as India Arie, is one of South Africa's most renowned artistes, thanks to her Loliwe debut album in 2011. She is synonymous with the guitar and predominantly sings in Zulu and English. The choice by the sponsors to have her headline the 10th edition was well thought. It was money well spent in the estimation of fans that were more conversant with her song, Loliwe. She shared the stage with Lillian Mbabazi, the Sundowners band and A-Pass. The show has in the past been headlined by Suzan Kerunen, Eric Wainaina, Fresh-

perience amazing live music and let go of your inhibitions without a care in the world,” According to Ssali, people who attend festivals are usually those who are up for it. “They are like ‘I’m here, rain or shine, I’m up for the festival,” he offers. He mentions that festivals are usually thematic and people easily relate to them. “Why endure a plain performance by say, Gravity Omutujju at say Hotel Africana, when you can be learning how to play an instrument at Bayimba festival?,” he queries. He says that even musicians at festivals learn from critics of their art. “It’s a great moment to be able to stop someone or intervene in their path and make them think differently since they are able to reach to different audiences,” he says He concludes: “For an artist, to be able to stand beside the work and hear the commentary about the work, it’s so honest. It can be brutal, but it’s intense and that’s why it’s really good for our local musicians to strive and become festival musicians,”

This is a song about a guy who is trying to reach out to a girl that seems to be out of his league. Meanwhile she is also into it though feeling wrong about it but the body language is actually giving her away. So I try to express myself in this character by reaching out to this girl. Qn: What inspired you to record body to body? Inspiration comes from all kinds of places. (Grins) I had already made the beat and the inspiration to voice the song came from my bedroom experiences and I put a concept to it hence the song body to body. Qn: This song seems abit different from the type of music you have been doing recently. Why change from your ragga, reggae and dancehall to do a slow paced song? I am a very mysterious artiste and what people don’t know is that NUTTY stands for Never Underestimate This Talented Youth. I have a lot of sides and most people have only seen the ragga and dancehall sides but I have a lot of surprising sides to me. I can do a lot of genres of music but I will be revealing

them with time. Otherwise, Body to Body is just a tip of the iceberg. Qn: Where did you record this song from? I recorded the song from Sav Cham records. It was recorded by Producer Sub Zero. This is my production label ao basically I produced the song and it was mastered by Imon Pro of South Cyde Studio. Actually I voiced the song on a rainy day and ideas kept coming to me. Qn: How did your fans receive the song? The song was released in June this year. It was premiered on Radio City, Galaxy FM and XFM. It was well received by my fans and they all gave it good reviews and comments. It was also extensively promoted by my promotion team and it went places. All in a nutshell, I was impressed with how it was received by my fans and it kept me motivated to record better music. Qn: So tell us about the video of Body to Body that you recently released. It is a great and artistic video which depicts me in a room playing cars and

after I win the game, the woman I am attracted to comes in so I end up trying to get body contact with her. I shot the video in Makindye with a video production company called Stain. This company has lots of talented individuals and this video was surely professionally filmed. I am planning on shooting and releasing a bedroom version of this video which was produced by Sub Zero and Boris. Qn: What was the cost of production? The video cost me 15 million shillings all together. This was because we had to get a lot of equipment and the model was expensive to hire because she was a professional. We also had to create the scene of the video from scratch which cost a lot during production. Qn: Why was the video this expensive? I felt like this was a unique song that needed an exclusive and catchy video. So I had to spend a lot in order to accompany this song with a video my fans and I personally would love.

I didn’t face a lot of challenges during audio production but during the video shoot, I hadn’t tinted my hair so my hair had to be tinted first before the shooting started. This put us a bit behind schedule and the video shoot ended up longer than expected. Otherwise everything else was fine.

Qn: Any upcoming projects? I wouldn’t want to speak about them because I want to keep my fans guessing what I am dropping next. I will have to keep that a secret.

Mary Luswata is a presenter on Urban TV. She presents the Sqoop on Sqoop gossip program that runs from Monday to Friday at 5:00pm. Her program has become popular because of the no holds barred approach to presenting gossip. It is one of the most watch local programs despite it lasting for 5 minutes only. She has won a big number of fans as well as enemies because of that. Chano8 cought up with her at her place of work and asked a few questions about her life, career and plans.

You have been known as the gossip queen. Have you always been like that while growing up? Every child has some gossip in them. When you’re a kid, you don’t know what’s right or wrong and you’re basically just throwing up words. I never really cared about what Ugandan celebrities were all about. In fact when I first got the show, I cried because I was not interested in celebrity lives. I then realized that this is a role I have to play. I basically act everyday on the show. The show has nothing to do with my daily life outside the set so after the show I am a different person and am always minding my own business. So is your Scoop on Scoop show scripted? No it isn’t but at the start I used to script it because I hadn’t yet gotten used to it. But now I don’t script. I just get subjects to focus on for the show. I usually get my subjects and ideas for the show on set while am on air. At times I even change my subjects during the show contrary to what I had planned before.

There are a few individuals who you always talk about on your show. Is there anything personal?

What is your view of the music and entertainment industry?

I don’t know anyone well enough to either hate or love them. I am just doing my show and they end up taking it personally. Some of these people put their life out there on social media for us to comment on and rate therefore, making them easy prey. For this reason, they end up getting talked about more on my show.

The industry is growing so fast and is influenced by so many factors like Uganda getting international recognition more than ever. People need to grow with the industry because you can’t relate with international musicians while thinking small. The industry has reached a stage where by those who can’t keep up with it are going to fall off regardless of how many years they have been in the industry. This is both a good and a bad thing because some of our favorite musicians might end up disappearing not because they are not talented but because they can’t keep up. This will end up leaving behind the fine artistes who are more competitive.

You seem to have a big social media following on your accounts. What do you have to say about that? I am not a huge fan of social media and that explains why I don’t have a personal social media account. I only have a fan page. Social media to me is a place where everybody is intelligent, rich, beautiful and happy so literally there is a lot of pretence which I don’t like. In my line of work, I am required to have a social media page though I never get to interact with my fans there. Social media isn’t the place for me. What is the biggest challenge on your show? This show is the first of its kind in Uganda. Ugandans therefore don’t know if you are just abusing people or criticizing them. Viewers have failed to understand that Sqoop on Sqoop is just a show and they end up taking issues personal. The biggest challenge is separating me from the show. Many find it hard to realize that when am off the show, I am a different character and I live a normal life. People end up thinking that they know me too well and judge me because they have seen me on the show.

So what can you share with us that our readers don’t know? Mary Luswata outside the studio is a normal Ugandan who will go to a normal restaurant, get a normal meal and sleep in a normal house. She doesn’t live in a shell because she has friends and family and she loves children. I am not married but am engaged and in a stable and happy relationship. Do you have any wedding plans therefore? I don’t believe in marriage. I believe in a good stable relationship between both partners whether in courtship or marriage. Taking you to the altar should be just something done out of will of both spouses but not as a security measure to stay hooked to each other.

Introducing STELLA ATAL Fashion Designer, Artist Stella Atal is an Award-winning fashion designer who comes from a family with an artistic background. Her mother is an art teacher and she therefore developed passion for art and fashion at an early age where she engaged mostly in painting throughout her youth while at school.

They are mostly African fabrics from West and Central Africa as well as Europe. She prefers colourful prints and also does a lot of painting on them before coming up with the final design. depending on the choice of clients and design she wants to create. She usually buys them abroad when she travels Stella also prides in use of local materials like the Bitengi and bark cloth. Ever since she launched her own label called Stella Atal in 2007, she has been busy on the fashion scene where she has showcased locally as well as internationally in the past 10 or so years. Stella has show cased her work in New York (New York fashion week Africa), Black History week in London, Las Vegas, Spain, Green fashion in Switzerland, Cameroon (Won best African Fashion award), Niger and Norway. Ethical Award (London 2008) as well as the design of the Miss Africa's dresses at the New York Fashion Week. She recently won the Kampala Controversial Arts Award with a design that focused on women's circumcision. Her clientele is mainly a circle of close friends and people who know her fashions. Stella says her designs are open to the public although a number of celebrities have also bought clothes from her like Juliana Kanyomozi, Angela Kalule, Naava Grey, Angella Katatumba, Mariam Ndagire, Isaiah Katumwa, Karitas Karisimbi, Lilian Mbabazi and even

Hugh Masekela and they do appreciate her work. “I don’t see challenges in this business because I see the so called challenges as an opportunity to learn and improve. When something is hard I learn from it and it gives me a way to think ahead. THE NORWEGIAN DJ WHO HAS MADE HIMSELF A NAME IN UDANDA

Mikael is from Norway but his love for Uganda earned him the name Musoke which he uses on social media platforms as well as in his day to day life. He has been promoting many Ugandan artistes and theme nights for different bars on his Facebook wall and a Ugandan track canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t miss out on his playlist whenever heâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s deejaying somewhere. Chano8 caught up with him and he had this to say. What are your real names and why do you use Musoke? I have so many names and I use all of them. My official name is Mikael D. Mack. I guess the name Musoke just fits my personality. Cascas from Boyz in September was the first person to call me that name. When did you start deejaying and where did you get the interest to start doing so? I grew up in a music community, since my father is a very talented musician. I started DeeJaying in 2013, kind of "by accident". My friend DJ Pre-D had a bongo flavor gig in Oslo, and since he had to go somewhere, I had to step up for him and because I had all my Ugandan tunes with me, it worked perfectly and people loved it so much. I found it easy for me since I had the musical background and knowledge about Ugandan music. Chano8. October 2015

We have been married for about a year and a half and our marriage hasn’t been bad. My wife is a good home keeper despite the fact that we both work. My only problem is that she is a very serious person that takes herself a little too seriously. I ‘m a playful person but when I try to be like this with her she doesn’t seem interested. At this point, it’s normal for one to be distracted by daily work and home routines that we neglect our partner’s needs. understand where you are coming from Jeff and I really sympathize with you. Indeed the word lonely best describes this scenario. What many people don’t understand is that it is perfectly possible to be married yet experience great levels of loneliness. This situation can be really hard because marriage is a commitment that lasts the whole of you life and you just can’t walk out of it. A marriage best works where there is communication regardless of how random the topics may be. The key is to communicate. One of the key ingredients of a good marriage is friendship. You haven’t stated if you are your wife were good friends before you got married. Did you court each for long or was the marriage rushed? Scenarios like these are more common in marriages that occur after a very short time of dating and when they couple starts living together as husband and wife, they realize they don’t have as much as common as they thought they did. Friendship in marriage brings a certain level of basic chemistry that enables the two of you interact in a comfortable almost seamless kind of way. For example an activity as simple as sitting down over a cup of tea with your spouse as you talk to each other about how your day went creates a great feeling of camaraderie between the couple. If you courted for a short time, then you need to take time as couple and get to know each other better. You should go out on dates out of the home environment and spend time together without the worries and demands of house keeping and paying bills in your face. Go to the movies or to a concert and you will gradually discover each other. Conversation is likely to flow more naturally when you have moments likes these to talk about. tubatisa yes that song has been on the lips of very many people of recent especially after the release of its official video. It features Team no sleep’s bad girl Sheebah Karuni alongside ‘Swangz Avenue’s ‘good girl’ Irene Ntale. At first the two names sound incompatible especially when used in the same sentence.

Few imagined that the collaboration between the two would work out, leave alone having any sort of collaboration to start with. However, the two pulled it off and not only did it happen, but they also excelled with flying colours because there is a lot people are saying about the song which can only be a good thing. So what are the young ladies singing? First of all, we have to give kudos to the person who came up with this idea and made sure it works because not so many people expect a working relationship between the two to prosper. They did brilliantly well in selecting a simple and comfortable theme to sing about which has worked wonders for both. They are no doubt talented and hard working but what stands out most in the song is the fact that two people from almost two different worlds apart could be able to put their heads together and create something that their respective fans can be proud of. hen Eazy E is almost busted by police in a crack house, he goes to club and he sees Dr Dre who was just a DJ with big dreams of starting his own record.

Eazy E scared of being thrown to jail because of the drug business decides to invest and form a rap group with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Yella under Ruthless Records. With the first song 'Boys in the hood' being a massive sale, Jerry Heller approaches Eazy E and asks whether he can manage them and he accepts. Following police brutality on them, the group decides to release a diss track, something that even has the FBI complaining. All attempts to suppress their freedom of speech fails as they only bring the group more ratings and popularity. However, the strong brotherhood within N.W.A starts vanishing when Ice Cube suspects Jimmy and Eazy E of reaping the rest of the crew off. He promptly confronts the two and is told that the remaining contracts are still being written. Finally, on the night before the group returns home from their tour, Cube meets with Jimmy, who tries to coerce him into signing a contract but he refuses and decides to opt out in order to pursue a solo career. He goeas ahead to he makes a diss track attacking the group and Jimmy Heller the manager.

Steven Kigozi also known as Steve Keys is an instrumentalist,songwriter and singer. He mostly showcases at Bugolobi based Gatto Matto every Tuesday and his fan base has grown as seen in the big number of revellers

teve Keys Live has been going on for the past 2 years at Gatto Matto and it is currently well attended every Tuesday. On one occasion I watched Steven Kigozi, also known as Steve Keys, who performs with his band comprising of Wamala Vian the drummer and Allan Okia who is a bass guitarist. He draws his inspiration from Kirk Franklin, Boys 2 Men and Bryan McKnight among others. Given the sudden rise of live music, it was full house that particular Tuesday at Gatto Matto and was mainly attended by mostly middle aged corporates. Most of the revelers seemed to be enjoying the performance which was really melodious and being a mixture of Steve Keys’ Chano8. October 2015
