Everyone has bad days. Everyone has good. But sometimes those terrible bad days can feel like you're dying or you feel like there is no hope on this earth. Well, some people really do feel like this. Everyone does at some point. To be honest, I feel like there's a loss in humanity almost every week these days. Until I saw Paul Foisy's channel on YouTube, called Paul Foisy Facts. This guy is pretty average to the human eye, and most people would probably scroll past him. But not my neighbor and friend Chloe, and not 502K subscribers. When my neighbor and I looked into this guy, we binge watched his video's big time. Turns out he has 388 videos (currently still uploading more) and this You Tuber with such a big heart, has posted influencing videos that would make your heart sob. From animals getting reunited with their owners after being lost for months or their owner being in the Army, to humans helping animals out of ditches and sewage pipes, to even humans helping humans when a competitor pulled a hamstring in a race, and another contender in the challenge held onto the man's hand and helped him finish the race. This man gave so many people hope, gave me hope, and gave my neighbor hope as well. So I decided to interview her on her thoughts about how this You Tuber changed her perspective on the way we see humanity today.

Chloe said, "he inspired me to want to help and believe in others' kindness. It was like he almost made me want to give away everything I had for just one person or animal, and he made me want to make everyone feel this way." Influencer Paul Foisy Facts made a believer out of Chloe. "When the sun sets, and there's just darkness, there's always a shining star to light up the night," said Chloe. Chloe talked about how Paul has inspired her. "Well, the first thing I thought of was to go make toys for animals in shelter and to set up events for them to get adopted," she said. She added, "You always have a choice to do the right thing, or to not. And sometimes you don't even know you're missing that chance. What he does, is he highlights the moments when people pick the right choice, and help someone out, and it inspires you to do the same." 5

TV Shows Relationship Rivalries Background photo by Ethan Michael | Pexels.com

There have been many conflicts in TV show relationships. Many people on social media always compare brothers, friends and people on who will be a better boyfriend . In regards to the relationship rivalry, the shows I will be talk about are the Gilmore Girls and The Summer I Turned Pretty. In the show Gilmore Girls, the main character, Rory, has a relationship with four guys: Dean, Tristan, Jess and Logan. Dean was a good boyfriend to Rory, but he was a little too over protective. Dean was also a bit verbally abusive to Rory. Tristan was never Rory's boyfriend, but he genuinely liked her. Rory and Tristan had great chemistry and should have ended up together. Jess was Rory's second boyfriend. He was a great boyfriend and had amazing chemistry with her. They had the best connection and will always love each other. Rory's last boyfriend in the show was Logan. Logan and Rory should have ended up together. The Summer I Turned Pretty was a book series and a TV show. There was a love triangle between two brothers and a family friend. The oldest brother was Conrad. Conrad was Belly's (Isabelle) first love. Belly had always loved him until one summer. The youngest brother was named Jeremiah, who was more popular than Conrad and more outgoing. Belly always had a great connection with Jeremiah, but it was more like a platonic friendship. Overall, theses different relationships and love triangles and rivalries were fun to watch and talk about.

Banned Books: How A School Fought Back Books are magical little creatures. They make it able for you to carry around tiny worlds and adventures in the palm of your hand. Sometimes people will constantly try to tell you they are most likely just a fantasy and rubbish. But us book lovers out there know that's not true. They are the rubbish, and if they can't see a magical world is your happy place, show them. Recently, there has been an existential crisis throughout the U.S. Certain states have decided to ban books from their public and private schools. From "The Hill" under "Changing America" is an article titled, "The Five States With The Most Book Bans" and as the article clearly states, "There are a total of 1,586 book bans and restrictions across 86 school districts in the country'' and "The majority of the books banned have to do with race, gender, sex or LGBTQ+ identity." Another statement from this article is, "Texas came in first as the state with the largest number of book bans at 713, followed by Pennsylvania with a striking 456 bans, Florida with 204, Oklahoma with 43, Kansas with 30 and Tennessee with 16. I was astonished as I read the rest of the article. How could people really hate books this much that they would ban them from the entire district? Well, Walnut Creek Intermediate Middle School sure had the same thought. When you walk into the school library,
8
your world might get turned upside down, because the school decided to put up and hang banned books all over the shelves and walls with clear signs that said, "Banned Books!" and "Please Check Out." With a whopping rate, you wouldn't believe how many books had been banned! The top books that have been banned are: The Great Gatsby, The Catcher In The Rye, The Grapes Of Wrath, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Color Purple, Ulysses, Beloved, The Lord of The Flies, 1984, Lolita, Of Mice and Men, Catch-22, Brave New World, Animal Farm, The Sun Also Rises, As I Lay Dying, A Farewell To Arms, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Invisible man, Song Of Solomon, Gone With The Wind, Native Son, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Slaughterhouse Five, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Go Tell It on the Mountain, All the King's Men, The Lord of the Rings, The Jungle, Lady Chatterley's Lover, A Clockwork Orange, The Awakening, In Cold Blood, Satanic Verses, Sophie's Choice, Sons and Lovers, Cat's Cradle, A Separate Peace, Naked Lunch, Brideshead Revisited, Women in Love, The Naked and the Dead, Tropic of Cancer, An American Tragedy, Rabbit, Run, and more in counting. Please help our world speak out against these types of things, and I hope you can try to one day, do something about it.

How to Save the Earth Background Photo by Gabriel Jimenez|Unsplash
C4K | SU22
Saving the Earth is not only limited to planting trees. Small actions and gestures of conserving water and natural resources or even turning off the lights after leaving a room can save energy ultimately. However, it does not stop there. We can help the Earth through simple efforts of biking instead of driving, volunteering to help clean polluted areas nearby and most importantly, reducing, reusing and recycling correctly. If these actions were made by people all around the world, we could save the habitats of animals, the atmosphere we breathe and the environment we all live in. How often the topic of protecting the Earth is brought up shows how important it is and how often it is overlooked. The world will only notice when we lack time, not when there's enough time. The future is in our hands, and it is up to us to choose the right path for all eight billion people living on this very planet. How will you save the Earth? Photo by Climate Clock|Twitter
As the climate increases day-by-day, more environments are being negatively affected. With a current estimated population of humans at eight billion in the year 2022, there is more waste thrown into the environment and greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere. The Earth is the only planet known to support life. When Earth is destroyed by human causes through global warming, climate change and pollution, what will hold life next? Moving through future years at a ruthless rate of polluting the Earth, there will be no Earth for future generations if actions are not taken immediately. In other words, now. As researchers are finding alternative planets that could source life when hitting a worst-case scenario of environmental damage for Earth, everybody could help turn the 'when' into an 'if'. Even if a small action is made against pollution, it can make the largest impact. All humans live on Earth and use the main sources, water, air and sunlight. These sources are used to process photosynthesis and plant growth, which help increase the oxygen on our planet and decrease carbon dioxide, the second most abundant greenhouse gas on Earth, from the atmosphere. Growing a tree can bring numerous beneficial factors, such as saving energy and using renewable resources, cleaning the air, combating climate change and providing food.

Photo by 3.0 Unported In association with the animal rights group CARE, 'Black Dog Campaign', Stray Kids were chosen as Honorary Ambassadors.
Act fast! On Oct. 31, 2018, a non-profit animal rights organization, Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth, also known as CARE, held a ceremony in the Care Adoption Center, assigning the trending boy band, 'Stray Kids' as honorary ambassadors. Stray Kids, often abbreviated as SKZ, is a South-Korean boy band that was formed through a reality TV show in 2017 following the same name, by JYP Entertainment. Later, their first official debut was on March 25, 2018, in the extended play of "I Am Not." Through the reality TV show, nine members made it through. However, due to unclarified personal reasons, one member, Woojin, left the group. Leading to the famous eight members, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Chang Bin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N, are the members recognized today. Even though Stray Kids are famous for their music, their heart-warming personalities and caring hearts continue to win the hearts of fans and expand their worldwide recognition. In the same year as their debut, 2018, Stray Kids accomplished and helped the world in many ways, making positive impacts on their fans and society. 10
Teaming up with the CARE organization, Stray Kids was able to successfully help make a positive impact on prejudiced animals in shelters, called the 'Black Dog Campaign.' The Black Dog Campaign is an ongoing campaign since 2017 and is working to eliminate the distinction between black dogs and other colored dogs because of their color. Supporting the campaign, CARE released their Black Dog Syndrome film in collaboration with INNOCEAN Worldwide, spreading the message, "adopt a world without discrimination and prejudice." At the Care Adoption Center, participants in the event included the CARE President, Park So-Yeon, CARE activists and all the members of Stray Kids. Stray Kids have become the first honorary 'campaign' ambassadors, and the first idol group to come forward as an honorary ambassador for the non-governmental organization animal branch. As stated in their speech, Stray Kids said, "Without regard to color or breed, we hope all abandoned dogs can find their happiness again." C4K | SU22

Aesthetics & Styles Photo by Canva
Every person has a preferable style and also an aesthetic. An aesthetic is a type of style, usually categorized by look. If you're looking for something flowery and natural, all for nature, I'd recommend the style called cottagecore. Or do you want something more dark and possibly hardcore? Then, I'd say grungecore! Choosing your go-to aesthetic may be hard, but never fear, this may help sort some things out for you and give you ideas to start with, on your aesthetic journey. Some popular aesthetics are cottagecore, dark academia, soft-girl, streetwear and school-prep. Some people also enjoy mixing and matching aesthetic ideas, and that's completely fine. Some dark academia mixed with cottagecore? That'd make a perfect match. Aesthetics is all about what you want and everything else. Softer aesthetics usually are something of softgirl, fairycore, cottagecore and school prep. More dark and grunge-like styles are, Egirl or grungecore. Finding something that you like might not be easy, but there's always something out there for everyone. Aesthetics can translate into decorating a room too, like with a line of books or even posters. So, even as most aesthetics are used for outfits, you can also make pictures out of it. Color tones, objects and even costumes are used in this case. Usually this is for something pretty, but can be used in dark or even festive ways. It's all up to you and the maker! 14

Trending Stores & Restaurants By Anabelle Do you ever have those days where you're fighting with your parents and siblings about where you want to order dinner from, but you can't decide on the food or the place. Or when you're out with your friend downtown, and you are ready to shop and you know what your looking for, but what shops are currently trending? Where do you get a certain look, feel, for your clothes? Help me, help you, help your trending aesthetic! First, we start with fashion. If you're going for an aesthetic, light and surfboard babe, but girly look, you could definitely pull off Tilly's, the teen clothing store. But beware, it can also lead you into a checkered, old school 1980s- 2000 devilish look. There's downsides as well. Tilly's could be a very cute, good looking, brand. But it also might be a little more on the edge of maturity for some people, and a little more developed for others. All-in-all, it's an amazing brand, and I hope you dive deep into Tilly's style. Another great company to shop from is, Hot Topic. If your looking for an anime, Monga, grunge core look, Hot Topic's the shop. Lots of people comment that it's a more emo, darker aesthetic, cosplays store. You'll find a lot more mushrooms jewelry than checkered head scarfs, and a lot more cosplay dresses than patterned skirts. Some people may say it's too cosplay, and not something that a person should wear to school. C4K | SU22
Are you bound for a dress cut? People who are in love with this style may beg to differ. They may say it's a way to express themselves, to show their true colors. I hope you can find your new love at Hot Topic. Everyone loves food. It's pretty natural, because, every human eats it. But the funny thing is, it's also a very common thing people can connect and create relationships over. And there's no better place to connect over food than the Lazy Dog restaurant in Concord. It's a more bar-food like restaurant, but it's still delicious and none the less classy for that matter. The inside is set up with cute red booths and high bar tables. With a clear view of the kitchen, and an adorable wall of dog pictures, their relatable motto of the restaurant is, "Sit. Stay. Eat. Play." There is also a huge fireplace in the outdoor patio and even a dog menu for your dog when you bring them! The second restaurant is Nepenthe, located in Big Sur. With a stunning view of the sea, overlooking the cliffed landscape, is a cultural food restaurant dedicated to all, with a beautiful oak wood interior, hitting the evening sun just right, is a majestic restaurant of beauty and wonder. Tasty and all, I hope you enjoy my important recommendations in future decisions of food criteria and fashion of choice. 15
Vinnie's Pizzeria: The Best Takeout By Braeden Vinnie's Pizzeria is a small New York styled pizza parlor that has a joint in Martinez, CA. They serve quality pizza and clazones, as well as delicious garlic knots and pastas. The small joint opened in 2017 on Alhambra Ave. They don't have much indoor seating due to COVID-19, but they have multiple tables outdoors. The food is ready within minutes and is made with care. The food tastes amazing and can feed an entire family. There are multiple types of pizza they sell, from whole NY styled pizzas to specialty pizzas and pizza by the slice. The whole pizzas are generally really cheap. The slices are big and have soft crusts. They only have two different kinds of pastas and they come in decent quantities. They have ravioli and spaghetti. The spaghetti comes with two garlic knots. Vinnie's also has three types of calzones and Stromboli. Each is made with fresh cheeses and vegetables. They do the same with their salads. They also have sides to go with your meals. One of these sides is a garlic knot. The garlic knots are light and fluffy and amazing. They also sell meatballs and a side of ranch. Mona's Burgers: The Best Sit-in Restaurant By Braeden
Mona's Burgers is a small burger place in both Concord and Walnut Creek, CA. The first joint opened in July 2014 and a second one soon followed. They are locally sourced and owned. Their goal with their restaurants was to serve quality food to everyone that ate there. As would be expected from the name, they serve quality burgers. They serve a classic called The Classic, which has lettuce, tomatoes and red onions on artisan bread and a patty from Niman ranch, as well as some newer takes on burgers. One of their unique burgers consists of ham, pineapple, melted jack cheese and their patty and bun. Not only do they have four types of fries and onion rings, they also have fries with cheddar cheese and chili fries. With all of the different kinds of fries, there is always a perfect side to your main course. For drinks, they serve milkshakes, beer, wine and soft drinks. The milkshakes come in two different sizes, medium and large. The large comes with another cup of milkshake while the medium only has one. Mona's Burgers is located at 1574 Palos Verdes Mall, Walnut Creek, CA and 785 Oak Grove Rd, Concord, CA. Call them at 925.849.6441 (Concord) or visit them their website at www.monasburgers.com.

Trip to Taiwan
By Julia
You wake up to a gust of warm air greeting you through the window on a warm summer day. You slowly get up as you hear motorcycles out in the distance and sizzling from breakfast restaurants outside on the sidewalks. You look out the open window and see a sunlight-filled, busy street downstairs. You smile as it marks a brand new day in Taiwan. Taiwan is a small country with an area of 13,976 square miles and holds an approximate population of 23.61 million people (2022). The majority of Taiwan's population is held in Taipei City, the capital of Taiwan. It supports 2,742,379 people, with a more attractive modern appearance to tourists and citizens who live there. Taipei is one of the most well-known cities in Taiwan, as its able to capture the culture and history of the land. No matter the time of day, there will always be events taking place. Whether it be shopping, eating or walking around, the streets at night will always have light. Taiwan is largely acknowledged for its cheap prices, sightseeing, delicious food, bubble tea and most importantly, night markets. Photo by Vernon Raineil Cenzon|Unsplash
Taiwan night markets are the favorites of all tourists and visitors. These night markets are often open and available from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and can even last till midnight. The night markets are the highlight of the day and can bring back the childhood memories of many adults through their childhood favorites, the food. 18
Night markets in Taiwan have minigames, toys, clothing and food. The various authentic Taiwanese snacks sold in night markets are the most prominent. With their inexpensive prices and delicious on-sight cooking, the food in night markets is a great steal. The Raohe Street Night Market is one of the busiest night markets when it opens. As it holds a large capacity, countless stands attract the attention of visitors with their flashy appearance and street food. These small eats range from desserts, snacks and meals, such as shaved ice, stinky tofu, fried chicken cutlets, soy sauce braised food and grilled Taiwanese sausages. Taiwan night markets are a great tourist attraction for international visitors, as it unlocks a new experience for all people. The food in Taiwan is certainly what makes the trip memorable, but the sightseeing tops it all off. Since it's a great place to capture photos, shop and journey around, make sure to visit the most famous landmark in Taipei City, Taiwan, the famous skyscraper building; Taipei 101. Taipei 101 has 101 floors, once being the tallest skyscraper in the world. It stands 1,671 feet tall and is admired for its remarkable architectural design being both traditional and modern. From the outside, it's a very busy location with people walking in and out of the building. It is a wonderful place to get photos of the scenery and once entering the building, it's an immersive experience. With food, shops and escalators, Taipei 101 is a wonderful tourist shopping mall. Its neat look and large space fascinate many visitors. The most popular attraction is the observation deck, located at a height of 1,474 feet. The view is magnificent and is a great way to wrap up your trip to Taiwan. Taiwan is one of the best international getaway vacations for you to relax and have fun. It is an unforgettable memory with an incredible amount to offer. Time to plan your next trip for the future! C4K | SU22
