Lifestyle at Cresswind Twin Lakes
Chelsea Cabasal
Lifestyle Director
Hello!
We are in the midst of an exciting summer for our Cresswind community. At the start of summer, we celebrated the change of weather with our second outdoor concert of 2024. This is the 60s! was a big hit among event attendees. It was a trip down memory lane for so many residents and they even took advantage of the theme and dressed in their best 1960s garb. But the fun didn’t stop there! As the summer began, a DJ even came out and played the best summer hits to welcome the season. One of the best parts of the summer so far is the biweekly visit from Jaemor Farms. Every other Tuesday they have been in front of the Clubhouse with fresh produce and baked goods.... Have you tried their Fried Peach Pie? It’s the perfect summer treat! Delicious!
As we gear up for the end of the summer season, we can look forward to an equally exciting autumn. The Cresswind Cup is returning to Twin Lakes. For two days our neighborhood will host our fellow Cresswind Pickleball players, from the Carolinas all the way down to Florida. Be sure to stop by the Pickleball courts and cheer on our very own Twin Lakes Pickleball Team as they play for the coveted Cresswind Cup! In September, we will also see a visit from the Rhinestone Cowgirls, who will bring to life some of the legendary women of country music. You do not want to miss this event!!
I’m looking forward to so many events this fall, and I know our community is going to have a great time at all of them!

Outdoor Concert This is the 60’s!
The second installment of our outdoor concert series took place this past June, when “This is the 60s!” brought their one-of-a-kind performance to our Cresswind community. As over 450 residents walked through the Clubhouse doors and onto our event lawn, it felt like we had stepped through a time warp! The 1960s were alive and well at Cresswind that night, from a decade’s worth of music to the 1960s-inspired outfits many attendees wore.
At first, concert-goers were unsure what to expect, as “This is the 60s!” was described as a “living documentary” about the decade. The
concert began with a montage of 1960s events, from happy hippies to more serious moments like Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination. But once the troupe took the stage and the music began, the dance floor filled with Cresswind residents. It was great to hear the songs of yesteryear, especially those we had forgotten!
“This is the 60s!” was unlike any concert we have hosted before in our outdoor concert series. In addition to the live music, there were multimedia aspects as well. The show featured a screen that played 1960s scenes throughout the evening. As the music changed with the progressing decade,

the visual images reflected what was happening at that time. During the band’s breaks, vintage commercials played on the screen, which many concert-goers remembered from their youth. The screen was not the only unique element of “This is the 60s!” The troupe included two dancers who performed popular 1960s movements and interacted with the crowd on multiple occasions.
In true Cresswind style, the attendees came dressed for the decade. It was great to see flower power, peace signs, bell-bottoms, and all the other 1960s fads brought to life among the crowd. At all times, the dance floor was a sea of tie-dyed shirts and flower crowns as the residents boogied down. It is undeniable that a groovy time was had by all!

I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer here at Cresswind at Twin Lakes! Iwanted to keepyou updated on Kolter’s development progress within your community. We are over halfway sold out of the community and have closed over 530 homes since we opened in 2020.
Cresswind at Twin Lakes will have eight phases of development upon completion for a total of 1,300 homes. The first five phases of development are complete and we are currently selling homes in Phases 4 and 5. You will begin seeing clearing and development for Phase 6 very soon along Geneva Way. This newest phase will consist of just under 200 additional homesites.
The roadway improvements for the Twin Lakes Main Entry located at Hwy53 andTwin Lakes Blvd.is complete. The signal equipment has a long lead time and is currently on order and scheduled to be installed and active in early 2025.
The large lake draining is underway and should take about 6-8 weeks to draw down approximately 10 feet. The work
on the dam will begin with an anticipated completion in October/November weather permitting. Once the work is complete, it’s anticipated to take up to 12 months for the lake to return naturally to normal pool elevation. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as this project is seen through to its completion.
The second phase of the Pickleball Complex, which will also include four tennis courts, is scheduled to be installed by September 2025. This phase offers another 20 Pickleball courts, including the four tennis courts, which will serve as multi-use for both Tennis and Pickleball. All of the new courts will be lighted andwill have additional shaded benches among them.
The Community Garden final phase of planter boxes and greenhouse were installed and are ready for the garden club’s use.
Our walking and hiking trails will continue to grow as development progresses. We are working with the Trails Committee to coordinate the next trail installs.
We look forward to continuing to grow with you!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Landers, Community Director

Back To School Drive
Over the summer, our Cresswind community had the opportunity to help provide Hoschton area schools with some much needed supplies as they prepare to open their doors for the upcoming school year. The Hoschton Back to School Drive took place in early July and
over the course of two weeks, our residents really stepped it up this year!
As the drive was going on, residents would bring necessary school supplies to the front desk of the Clubhouse as a donation to Hoschton schools. The
items donated ranged from back packs, to notebooks, to glue sticks, and more! In total, Cresswind at Twin Lakes collected 557 individual items to donate to our local schools. Thank you Cresswind for supporting Hoschton’s education institutions!
Bingocize is an exciting new program introduced by NGHS Trauma Services to our Cresswind at Twin Lakes community. This unique 10-week initiative offers residents the opportunity to learn important facts about falls, engage in strength-building exercises, and improve their balance—all while enjoying a fun game of Bingo! Every Tuesday and Friday, a group of residents gathers in the aerobics room to enhance their physical well- being and learn techniques to reduce the risk of falls.
This program was specifically designed for older adults, following reports that falls and slips are the leading cause of trauma center visits among seniors. Alarmingly, the National Council on Aging predicts that by 2030, there could be seven deadly falls among older adults every hour. To address this concerning trend, NGHS is developing programs like Bingocize to help older individuals minimize their risk and maintain their independence.
Murder Mystery Fun!
On July 27th, 100 Cresswind residents found themselves a part of a Murder Mystery. The multipurpose room was transformed into the Dunn Speakeasy and the roaring 1920s was alive and well in our community. It was great to see attendees in their best 1920s outfits...flapper dresses, zoot suits, feather boas, and more! Everyone was dressed for the decade and was ready to enjoy a nice evening, until a mysterious murder took place!! Residents found themselves as suspects and other guests were encouraged to ask the suspects
Murder Mystery Fun!
questions in order to figure out who the actual murderer may be.
As the story unfolded, some residents began to look highly suspicious and their answers to various questions were used to help put the pieces together. At the end of the night it was revealed that Getta Dunn (played by Resident Pat Perkins) was the killer of the evening.
What a wonderful time we all had! It was such fun to dress, eat a nice meal, and be a part of a unique experience. Everyone left with smiles, even the suspects and killer herself. As it was such a success, there might just be another murder in our future...
