What Can a Financial Advisor Do for You?

Can a professional financial advisor really make a difference for you? Well, let’s explore some of the many reasons you might benefit from working with a financial advisor:

Complex investment options. As the financial landscape changes, there are more choices to make regarding investments, some of which can be a bit confusing, and a good financial advisor deals with these types of decisions on a day-by-day basis.

Economic factors. In times of market volatility, financial guidance becomes especially important. Inflation, Taxes, Federal Reserve Policy, Congressional Legislation and Global Economic Changes all need to be considered when making long-term financial planning decisions, and a competent financial advisor has the training and experience in these areas to make a difference.

Saving time, reducing stress, and avoiding mistakes. Sure, you can do all the research, but having professional advice you trust and a knowledgeable person to ask when you’re unsure takes much less time and can reduce the anxiety of trying to get it right on your own.

Professional advice. Even if you devote time to doing your own financial research, an advisor likely has had more comprehensive financial education and more investing experience than you have, which can get you closer to achieving your financial goals.

Staying on track. Regular check-ins with your advisor can help keep you stay on course toward your financial goals, keep track of your progress, and adjust your financial plan when necessary.

Comprehensive planning. Although you may have the resources to study new investment options or specific savings tools such as IRAs, Roth IRAs, or 529 plans, it would be time consuming to master the wide-ranging planning strategies that a financial advisor could help you create.

Possible access to connections. Advisors may collaborate with a network of attorneys, tax-preparers, Medicare specialists, and other professionals who can work together to help you achieve your goals.

How to Evaluate and Choose an Advisor

The best way to begin your search for a financial advisor may be to ask family and friends for recommendations. If someone you know and trust vouches for the advisor, there’s a better chance of finding a good match versus choosing someone at random.

Firm affiliation, experience, and certification. Just as you would evaluate the résumé of a potential employee you are considering hiring, you should evaluate the education and background of a potential financial advisor. If your advisor has designations, research them and find out what the requirements were for obtaining them.

Fee structure. Some financial professionals collect commissions based on the investments they pick or the products they sell you. Others charge a percentage fee based on the assets you trust them to manage for you. Be sure to ask about your financial advisor’s fee structure and how they get paid.

Trust and personal attention. Your advisor should give you as much information as you need to make the best financial decisions for you and your family. So, it’s important to feel your advisor is listening to you, considering your circumstances and needs, and making recommendations you trust.

Let us help. If you are considering working with a financial advisor, we’d love to hear from you. I may be a bit biased, but I really think we check all the boxes that would define a trusted, experienced, and competent financial advisory firm, and we’d love to show you how working with us might just benefit you!

Lifestyle at Cresswind Peachtree City

Hello!

Having been born with chronic medical conditions, leading a healthy lifestyle has always been one of my top priorities. As I get older, a healthy lifestyle is no longer just a priority but also a necessity. Working at Cresswind has been a constant reminder of how important and easy it is to focus on health and specifically fitness. Each morning I’m greeted by a workout class full of homeowners getting stronger and healthier. I pass the gym every time I walk to and from my car. I speak to homeowners before and after their pickleball games, personal training sessions, workouts, and a variety of other activities. Cresswind is the perfect environment to focus on your fitness, which is why it’s also the focus of this edition of the Whippoorwill!

The Cresswind Lifestyle program is made up of four elements – Fitness, Relationships, Education and Entertainment. Heading up our Fitness Program are Lifestyle committee members and homeowners Ava Jordan and Karla White. These two women are incredible gifts to our community and the perfect duo to guide our community to a fitter future!

Ava has been teaching various styles of fitness for over 30 years and owns Aerobics Via Ava which provides exercise classes to senior adults. She currently teaches classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Clubhouse where she incorporates fitness, fun and fellowship into an hour where everyone leaves smiling and feeling accomplished. Karla is the owner of Peachtree Fitness Professionals and has over 15 years of fitness experience as a lifestyle and weight management consultant, aerobics instructor and personal trainer. Although she now spends much of her time as a realtor, you will often find her in the gym lifting weights – her favorite exercise – or leading hikes around Peachtree City.

Under the direction of Ava and Karla, the fitness program has evolved and created benefits for all of our homeowners. They have formalized our personal trainer program, created new weight demo classes (taught by our personal trainers), implemented growth tracking for our current classes and are bringing Silver Sneakers to our clubhouse soon! They have also sought ways to incorporate health and fitness into our daily lives by providing education around fitness and are bringing a health and fitness fair later this year. And these are just a few of their contributions!

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran in the gym or have never taken a workout class in your life, our Fitness Program has something for every single homeowner and we’re excited for you to take a closer look in the following pages!

Focus on Fitness • Lifestyle Fitness Program

Due to the size and scope of the Cresswind Fitness Center and our Lifestyle Fitness program, homeowners who live in Cresswind can quit their gym without losing any benefits of a gym membership! Under the leadership of Lifestyle Fitness leads, Ava Jordan and Karla White, Lifestyle Fitness has created a formal fitness program that offers a diverse assortment of classes, five approved personal trainers, fitness education and opportunities, and they continue to find ways to invest and improve upon our amazing fitness facilities!

Personal Training:

At Cresswind we have five approved personal trainers available to train homeowners at the Cresswind Fitness Center. Lifestyle Fitness monitors and maintains all qualifications and certifications to ensure we’re providing the best instructors in our very own clubhouse! In order to allow enough space for both our trainers and their homeowner clients as well as homeowners training on their own, we are limited to five approved personal trainers at a time. These five have been vetted and proven to make a huge positive impact on their Cresswind clients and we’re excited to introduce them to you!

Our Trainers:

Daniel Price is Hawaiian, raised in Peachtree City, with a passion for fitness. Daniel works with many homeowners and takes pride in helping them get their health and fitness back on track whether that’s after injury, accident or for the very first time. Daniel has been training Cresswind homeowners for over two years.

Scott Christopher is a personal trainer and bodybuilder dedicated to helping homeowners achieve the level of physical fitness they have always wanted. Whether that’s with weight loss, improving flexibility, building muscle, or sports performance. Scott believes there’s not a one-size-fits-all approach to fitness and nutrition, so instead he gives homeowners customized tools to bring out their best selves. He also provides Nutrition Coaching with weekly check-in programs to provide support and dietary insights.

Kim Hershey is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer who

specializes in training the senior population. She also has experience working with individuals with Parkinson’s, hip, knee and shoulder replacements and various back and neck issues. She understands why seniors want to maintain their

independence for as long as possible because she too falls within this age group. Kim’s focus is to keep her clients fit, active, functional, independent and moving!

Michelle Tolliver is a Cresswind homeowner as well as one of our personal trainers. Michelle has been in the fitness business for more than 30 years, and owned her own business in Newport Beach, California before relocating to Georgia and moving into Cresswind. She is certified by SporTelisis in both advanced physical training, and nutritional counseling. Michelle offers a complimentary consultation to all new clients and works with them to create an individualized plan based on their goals and needs.

Mike Russell is a Cresswind homeowner and 64-year old fitness and wellness advocate. In addition to being a fitness instructor, he is also

Lifestyle Fitness Leads, Karla White and Ava Jordan.

a NGA Pro Drug Free Body Builder Champion, certified by the National Gym Association and certified “Life Coach”. He is a trainer that lives by example and dedicates his days to strengthening and training seniors and his fellow homeowners. As an entrepreneur, he navigates the business world and during his down time, you can find him competing in billiard tournaments or soaring through the skies with RC helicopters and jets.

Fitness Classes:

If you visit the Clubhouse around 9:30 AM almost any day of the week, you’re guaranteed to run into a fitness class burning calories and making friends in the Ballroom! Our aerobics instructors have grown their classes so that the Yoga Room is now a distant memory and the Ballroom is the only space that will suffice. The Indoor Pool also plays host to an assortment of classes and the Yoga Studio is the appropriate site of our weekly yoga class and ballroom dance instruction. There is no shortness of classes offered and in fact, our offerings are as diverse as our homeowners! From Aqua Zumba and Water Aerobics to Hula Hoop Aerobics and Pool Volleyball, there’s an opportunity for every single homeowner to improve their own health and fitness!

Our Instructors:

grown the class to over 90 homeowners on the class roster! Fran loves the class as it forces her to workout, stay fit and give back to the community. As she explains it, “I love what I do, love the folks who workout with me and the exercise is a positive way to begin our day.” Fran’s low-impact aerobics class is described as constant movement without jumping up and down. Her motto is “Keep Moving” and work at your own pace. If you cannot do the same movements as Fran, just move the way that is easiest for your body. If something hurts, DO NOT DO IT! Enjoy the music that we are familiar with, sing along, and get your heart rate up for a good cardio workout. This class is popular because it is geared to our age group and we have fun!

Jill Elkin is an experienced therapeutic yoga and meditation teacher, (E-RYT 200, RYT 500, Certified iRest® Teacher) as well as a trained stress management specialist. Jill has been teaching yoga at Cresswind since the opening day of the clubhouse in 2018. Jill’s teaching style is based upon her years of experience and training in teaching to groups and individuals affected by chronic pain, cardiac events, stroke, anxiety/stress, and depression. Jill teaches yoga in an inviting, open style, creating an environment of safety and calm, while inviting students to experience strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Jill’s yoga class is described as gentle yoga, which is a yoga class with modifications offered so it’s more accessible to a wider variety of students.

Sondra Chan is our certified dance instructor who teaches ballroom dancing classes every Tuesday evening in the Yoga Room. Sondra was raised in a dancing community and at the age of four she was already considered the “Queen of Polka”. Her experience as an Occupational Therapist and a Social Worker (BSW) along with her Dance Degree from DVIDA and professional training at Arthur Murray’s School of Dance, has given her dancing expertise as well as the sensitivity to individuals’ needs and abilities so she can celebrate each success, encourage, and motivate her students to meet their chosen goals, one (dance) step at a time. Sondra’s dance classes are described as an opportunity to learn many dances so you can dance the night away! They work on one dance a month and review the dances taught at the end of the hour, with a focus on Swing as it is universal for rock n roll music. Join Sondra’s classes to exercise, energize and socialize all in one.

Ava Jordan

Ava’s Cardio and Core class is described as 30 minutes of cardio dance, consisting of marching, grapevines, arm and leg movements; followed by 15 minutes of targeted abdominal exercises, often using a chair for balancing while performing for stability and strength.

Fran Altemose is a Cresswind homeowner who teaches aerobics at 9:00 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Ballroom. Fran has been taking aerobics classes since 1975 and first started teaching aerobics since 1984. When she moved to Cresswind in 2019, she saw the need for aerobics classes at the Clubhouse and started a class with fifteen homeowners three days a week. She has

Roz Jackson

Roz’s dance workout is described as 45 minutes of low impact/high energy routines choreographed to lively, upbeat music from a variety of genres (R&B, Funk, Latin, Country, Disco). Prepare to dance like nobody’s watching while you have fun moving.

LIFESTYLE at a glance

Tami Warman

Tami’s Senior Strength class is described as an opportunity to increase muscular strength and endurance using weights, bands, and body weight. They work on balance and flexibility. Tami’s Healthy Backs class is described as a matbased workout that focuses on strengthening the inner core muscles of the abdominals and back. Exercises include mostly Pilates moves and some yoga.

pool water. Done mostly vertically and without swimming, it is a type of resistance training and is especially gentle on joints.

Group Fitness Opportunities

Pickleball in a fun environment that encourages group play and social interaction. While playing on the club, you can get to know your neighbors and have fun while doing it!

Tennis Round-Robins: Although Pickleball dominates our courts, we still have a solid group of tennis players in the community who play for fun, play on leagues and host the occasional tennis round robin.

Lisa Stanley

Lisa’s Aqua Zumba® class blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance for one pool party you shouldn’t miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba® class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.

Indoor Pool Volleyball: Every other Tuesday, a group of co-ed Cresswind homeowners gathers at the indoor pool for a rousing game of volleyball! Led by Billy Thornton and Brian Lee, they encourage all homeowners to join. No prior experience or athletic skill is nee ded as they adjust the rules to fit the unique group demographic. The objective is to socialize and have fun while maybe accidentally getting a little exercise. As soon as the indoor pool heater is back up and running, so will volleyball!

Pool Walking: Pool Walking takes place every Wednesday night and is a relaxing, self-led hour of walking the indoor pool lanes. This activity uses water pressure support for a light exercise although it can be modified by adding weights or noodles. This is a great way to get a low-intensity workout while enjoying conversation with your neighbor!

Pickleball Club: Under the leadership of club president Connie Beumer, Pickleball is one of the most popular activities with over 160 members in our Pickleball Club! While you don’t need to join the club to play at Cresswind (play is open to all residents), the club offers extra benefits and is designed to help homeowners learn and play

Hula-Hoop Workout: Former homeowner, Brenda Smith, left Peachtree City to be closer to family however her legacy lives on as we continue the fun fitness class she started here – Hula-Hoop Workout! Members of Brenda’s class took over the reins and teach her class each week with weighted hula hoops and lively music! This Friday-only class may be the most fun you have each week!

Walkie-Talkie Hiking Club: Led by Lifestyle’s own Karla White and John Radlein, the Walkie Talkies Hiking Club is a group of hikers and walkers that walk together throughout Peachtree City, using different sections of the cart paths. This club provides a chance to exercise, meet new friends, and see Peachtree City via the path system. The walks along the PTC cart paths are usually 3 to 4 miles in length with several longer hikes planned outside of Peachtree City throughout the year.

A REALTOR You Can Trust

Celebrating over 20 years buying, selling, and volunteering.

Soon after moving into Peachtree City, newcomers begin to recognize a unique thing about this city – there are volunteers everywhere! Whether they are volunteering on their own or through a church, or a civic organization, this unpaid workforce gives our city a unique quality of life.

You might say that volunteering was in the DNA of our city. In the beginning, Joel Cowan is quoted saying, “My biggest concern was building a critical mass of people that would be capable of sustaining a self-governing city”.

In those early days, there was very poor service to the western side of Fayette County. When there were enough homes, the citizens organized a Volunteer Fire Department, and then they organized fun things like the Fourth of July Parade, and the Opry which became the “Fred Amphitheater”. If there was a need, someone stepped forward to organize a group to volunteer to take care of the problem.

In 2001, Kay McInroe moved to Peachtree City with her husband Bill McInroe who was a pilot with Delta Airlines, and their two

children who attended local public schools. Kay was a newcomer who got involved with volunteering at her children’s schools.

In 2003, Kay became a Realtor, then joined the Kiwanis Club, where she rose to LT. Governor of Division 3. She was President of the Women’s Council of Realtors in 2008, and President of the Fayette County Board of Realtors in 2019, where she ran fundraisers and charity events.

Kay continued to volunteer when she joined the Southside Support, a non-pro t organization that supports families of individuals with disabilities. She presently serves as president.

For her exceptional e orts as a volunteer, Kay received the “Good Neighbor Award” from the Fayette County Board of Realtors in 2022, and “Good Neighbor Award” from the Georgia Association of Realtors in 2023.

Kay works in and gives back to her community. She knows this area well. If you are considering relocating, you can trust Kay to help you nd the perfect t –whether you are buying or selling.

Call her today at 678-570-0717 or email to Kay@kaymcinroe.com.

Kay McInroe

Kay was born Kavita Chhabra in India, during a time of racial and religious unrest. She attended college and studied economics. After college she became a fl ight attendant with Pan Am where she met her husband, Bill McInroe who was a pilot. They got married right before he shipped out to serve the US forces in Desert Storm. Later the couple moved to Peachtree City where Bill continued his career with Delta, and Kay became a mom for their two children attending local public schools. During that period Kay began her career as a REALTOR.

Kay’s experience of international life and world travel have enabled her to help buyers from places like England, India, Pakistan, Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, China, Korea, and Croatia to find a home in Georgia.

She tells all of her clients, local or foreign, “we are with you ‘til you feel at home”.

Kay is in the Top 2% Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Globally 2013-2023, and was the 2009 and 2020 Fayette County REALTOR Of The Year.
