Can you believe how fast time is going?! It is hard to believe that we only opened our Clubhouse doors three months ago! So much has happened since then and it feels like there is always something to do. With the Clubhouse open for everyone to use, there has been so much activity and change in our community.

The new amount of space called for a lot more help in making sure we always have something going on. As such, we formed three new committees! The Social Committee is a great group of Cresswind residents who are dedicated to making sure the events we host in the Clubhouse are the best they can be. We also created a Fitness & Wellness Committee, who are dedicated to all things health! Not only do they help onboard new EGYM users, but they also find great health-related programing to bring into our community. And of course we also have an Education Committee who seek out great learning opportunities for our residents on a wide variety of topics. With the help of these Committees, the Clubhouse will always have new and exciting activities to partake in.

Here at Club Cresswind, Springtime has been busy! In March we had a riotous Shamrock N’ Roll to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Everyone was Irish for a day as we danced the night away to our favorite songs, performed by The Spin Offs. We also saw the introduction of monthly Trivia. This game is a hit! It is quickly becoming a favorite among residents and always brings a crowd.

As we head into summer, we are looking forward to a lot events. In July, a Glow in the Dark Party will bring families together for fun games and dancing. Be sure to let your grand kids know and block off your calendar for this exciting event! And a one-of-a-kind Elvis impersonator will be hitting the stage in September. Keep a close eye on the Activities Calendar for the most up to date information!

WOW! What a Clubhouse!

Sincethe opening in February, our Clubhouse has been getting so much use from residents and clubs. There is so much space for residents to host events or lessons, and everyone is so eager to take advantage of it. The foyer is a welcoming sight upon entering the Clubhouse, and not a day goes by that the adjacent billiards tables don’t get used! Just off of the foyer, is our lounge that has plenty of space for meetings and games.

Our Multipurpose Room has already seen its fair share of concerts, whether it was for St.

Patrick’s Day or just a fun Friday night. The amount of space accommodates so many people to come together as neighbors. The Multipurpose Room extends into our Kitchen, that has already hosted a cooking demonstration presented by the CTL Cooking Club. Looking ahead, there are going to be so many more opportunities to share with one another.

In the upstairs art room, our art clubs are already bringing color and fun into the space. We have a crafting club and painting club who use the space regularly,

and have created some really impressive art! But, one of the Clubhouse’s biggest draws is the fitness opportunities! We already have 2 classes that take place weekly in our natatorium, and the aerobics room sees a steady amount of activity throughout the day. In our main fitness area, the EGYM continues to be integral to our community’s health and fitness goals. We have over 530 registered EGYM users in our community!! It is great to see our Clubhouse getting so much use, and we are all looking forward to what’s next!

Celebrating World Tai Chi Day

OnSaturday, April 29th residents of Twin Lakes participated in the worldwide celebration of Tai Chi. On the last Saturday in April over 80 countries devote time to Tai Chi, through Tai Chi teach-ins and demonstrations. Our community’s Tai Chi instructor, Cheryl, really opened our eyes to the wonder of Tai Chi. Not only did she give all attendees the chance to participate, but she brought in her Tai Chi students to demonstrate different forms of Tai Chi.

Dressed in red robes, Cheryl’s tai Chi students really showed off the different forms of Tai Chi that exist. One form uses swords to create a slow flowing movement that almost looked like a dance. They also demonstrated fan form of Tai Chi, which gained popularity after

the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This form incorporated both fast and slow movement. It was beautiful to see the fan form performed in unison by Cheryl’s students.

Tai Chi is a low-impact exercise that puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, but offers improved balance, increased leg strength, improved mobility, and

maintains or increases flexibility. And it’s just FUN! Studies have shown that doing an hour of Tai Chi is equivalent to walking 2 miles. So, it was wonderful to come together as a community to learn more about this wonderful exercise. Our Tai Chi classes take place on Tuesday at 10:00am in the Aerobics Room, and all are welcome to give it a try!

SPRING VENDOR FAIR

InApril, we hosted our Spring Vendor Fair in our Clubhouse for the first time. What a difference it made from when we hosted them outside! Not only did we not have to worry about weather, but we were able to bring in a larger variety of vendors. In total, 35 vendors attended our fair and there was a steady flow of residents visiting throughout the day. We had vendors from all over and covering so many topics.

Some of our vendors focused on health, whereas others centered on financial topics or were selling wonderful homemade goods. In fact, any need or concern was covered. There were chiropractors, financial advisors, clothing, and beautiful flower arrangements. Many of our vendors were Cresswind residents too, and it was nice to see neighbors supporting neighbors.

We now have 18 Clubs!

As our community continues to grow, more and more residents are starting clubs as chances to meet with neighbors. For a while, we only had seven registered clubs. But now, with all this new space, that number has risen to eighteen! And it is so exciting to see all the clubs in action in our clubhouse. A lot of clubs are really taking advantage of this new space to come together. For instance, the Cooking Club put together a spectacular Kentucky Derby party with

200 attendees! Residents wore their best and even crafted their own hats to wear for the event. Our Dance Club also hosted a dance to celebrate spring! And every week, you can count on the Bridge Club and Mahjong Tilers to have a great time playing games with each other for a few hours. It is so exciting to see how our community is going to continue to utilize the beautiful space we have available to our residents.

Learn about our Newest Committees!

Social Committee: Our social committee is geared toward putting on the best events for residents of Twin Lakes. Already the social committee has come up with fantastic ideas for our community. The decorations they provided for our St. Patrick’s Day dance really made a statement. So many residents enjoyed posing for pictures under the rainbow arch! Plus, our social committee really stepped up to celebrate moms for Mother’s Day by pouring mimosas for all the moms, grandmothers, aunts, etc., in our community. Looking ahead, be ready for more unique events from our creative social committee!

Education Committee: The education committee is committed to providing opportunities for residents to discover more about a variety of topics. After conducting a survey with residents, the education committee is working diligently to bring in experiences for the lifelong learners in our community. The Education Committee will bring in experts from so many topics – from home

& garden to history! Plus, the Education Committee has taken on the project of creating a library space for our Clubhouse!

Fitness & Wellness Committee: The Fitness and Wellness Committee is dedicated to the overall health of our community members. They strive to provide the best possible fitness opportunities. For instance, thanks to their knowledge of the needs of residents, our fitness center now has a Bosu ball, which is a great tool used in a variety of workouts. They also sponsored a hearing clinic, which gave residents an opportunity to have a free hearing test or screening. So many residents turned up for this event that the hearing aid provider had to come back multiple days!

All of our committees are dedicated to keeping Cresswind a wonderful place to call home and our three newest committees will continue to live up to that promise.
