Lifestyle at Cresswind Twin Lakes

Hello!

Summer is nearly upon us and the weather is heating up fast...too fast! Don’t you wish it could be 75° and sunny with a light breeze all the time? Or is that just me? Regardless, I am grateful to see the gray skies of winter giving way to a sunny blue!

With the change in season, we are excited to use our outside spaces more and more. In April, we had our first outdoor concert when the Ray Howard Band visited us to play classic R&B. What a magical night!! The Ray Howard Band had been to Cresswind a couple years ago just before I started. And I have heard about them constantly, with so many residents asking for them to come back. So, when they did come back it is no surprise we had nearly 400 people gathered on the Outdoor Event Lawn to enjoy the evening.

Looking ahead, we have even more things to look forward to outdoors, including our Bring A Dip, Take A Dip party on May 18th to celebrate the opening of the outdoor pool. Or, if swimming isn’t for you, enjoy a lawn concert on Memorial Day weekend featuring the very talented GlowBand. No matter what you’re into, you will find something on the calendar that gets you outside and soaking up the summer sun.

When it’s too hot outside, there is still plenty to do indoors. Our 35+ clubs keep our Clubhouse busy! If you like card games, check out the Bridge Club, Samba, or the Shuffle Group. Our Dance Club not only teaches lessons, but they often host community dances as well. There are so many clubs that encompass every hobby you can think of. So, I encourage you this summer to try something new. After all, one of the best things about living in Cresswind is the community and fellowship among neighbors!

Ray Howard Brings the House Down!

At the end of April, we kicked off our outdoor concert series with a truly wonderful band! The Ray Howard Band came back to Cresswind after first visiting us in October 2022. When they were here the first time, they left a lasting impression. Even newcomers to the community have heard countless stories about how much fun the band is. So, their

return to Cresswind was highly anticipated by residents who have been here for a long time, as well as those who are fairly new.

Everyone was looking forward to this band’s performance and all week the forecast seemed promising. The day of the event, the skies were gray and cloudy but every weather source swore

that there would be no rain. In true weatherman fashion, those predictions turned out to be wrong. In the afternoon, just a few hours before the concert, the skies opened up and it began to rain for nearly 20 minutes before easing up. Undeterred, the band continued to get ready for their performance and crew went about setting up tables and chairs.

LIFESTYLE at a glance

The rain stayed at bay and as the time approached 6:00 pm, concert-goers began to gather for the doors to open. As they made their way to the tables, mother nature gave us a scare once again as a light rain began to fall on our Outdoor Event Lawn. Still, residents continued to trickle in, with umbrellas and raincoats in hand.

Thankfully, the rain stopped for good just in time for the band to take the stage. And what a night we had! From the first beat, residents were up and dancing by the stage. They spent all night getting down to classic R&B and their favorite hits of yesteryear. There were over 430 people in attendance and the dance floor was packed from the beginning of the show to the very last beat. It was the perfect way to start our outdoor concert season!

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather here at Cresswind at Twin Lakes! I wanted to let you know about some exciting updates that Kolter Homes has going on in your community.

We have an update on the traffic improvement status for the Twin Lakes Main Entry located at Hwy 53 and Twin Lakes Blvd. Georgia Department of Transportation/ G.D.O.T. has approved the initial permit to add a new traffic signal to this intersection. The roadway changes will be installed this Spring but the signal equipment will require an additional permit approval. We will continue to keep you informed as we progress. However, we anticipate the signal to be active in early 2025.

The second phase of the Pickleball Complex, which will also include four tennis courts, is scheduled to be installed by September 2025. This phase offers another 20 Pickleball courts, including the four tennis courts, which will serve as multi-use for both Tennis and Pickleball. All of the new courts

will be lighted andwill have additional shaded benches among them.

The waiting list for the planter boxes at the Community Garden continues to grow, therefore the remaining planter box install has been moved forward and is scheduled for install this summer.

Our walking and hiking trails continue to grow. There are four existing trails. The first runs from the Pickleball Courts behind Ontario Lane and Publix down to the wooden bridge. The second connects across the wooden bridge to the lakes, the third is located between the Dog Park and the Community Garden traveling to the lakes, and the fourth is located along the lake’s edge on the Cresswind side of the lakes. Additional trails will follow as the new community phases are completed.

CresswindatTwinLakeswillhaveeightphasesofdevelopment upon completion for a total of 1,300 homes. We have closed 500 homes and completed the development of Phases 1-5 and are currently selling homes in Phases 4 and 5.

Spotlight: The Men’s Club

The Men’s Club is a Civic / Community Service Club that currently provides aid, support and resources to the communities of Cresswind Twin Lakes, Hoschton and Braselton. The Men’s Club does good deeds for neighbors in need. The primary purpose of the Men’s Club is to offer aid and support to our Cresswind neighbors who are dealing with serious illness, injury or other medical situations. We also provide non-emergency services and support to the homeowners and residents of Cresswind while creating and maintaining partnerships with community leaders and business owners to generate better community relations with our Hoschton and Braselton neighbors. Below are some of the ways the Men’s Club at Cresswind Twin Lakes supports our local communities:

Helping Hands Service Project provides Good Samaritan acts of kindness for home maintenance and other tasks that may be difficult or impossible for some neighbors to manage. Men’s Club volunteers have agreed to assist Cresswind Twin Lakes homeowners with specific services around the home like replacing smoke alarm batteries, A/C filters, water filters or troubleshooting electronic equipment and more.

Pinch Hitter Service Project provides instant relief for Cresswind Twin Lakes Caregivers and Patients with specific

non-medical services. Men’s Club and female resident volunteers switch places with caregivers to provide them time off for errands or other personal or medical reasons. Some of the services we provide include delivering meals to Cresswind residents in need or just sit and visit with Cresswind patients.

Medical Equipment Service Project collects donations of slightly used, good condition medical equipment which we maintain and store until needed. We then loan the equipment, at no cost, to the residents of Cresswind for as long as needed. Some of medical equipment inventory items include wheelchairs, walkers, knee scooters, crutches, shower chairs, walking boots, bedside commodes, slings, bed rails and more.

Civic, Community Service Committee supports the needs of Hoschton and Braselton with non-emergency resources to help local charities, residential and business needs, natural disaster relief, community clean-up days, special requests and more.

Special Projects Group supports the Cresswind Twin Lakes HOA and the Lifestyle Director with various tasks to move, build or set-up items around the Cresswind Twin Lakes clubhouse and community.
