LIFESTYLE at a glance From Lifestyle Director, Susan Larence Hello Cresswind! Wow! Where did the last 3 months go? I’ve so enjoyed settling into my new position as Lifestyle Director here at Cresswind PTC, getting to know as many residents (and their pets) as I can. I love taking the golf cart around the community and stopping for conversations or even just waving to everyone. It’s also a joy to see the beautifully landscaped yards.

I know we’re all grateful to have the fitness room and both the indoor and outdoor pool available again. The Ballroom is now being used for smaller classes, with a newly expanded dance floor to utilize! The events at the outdoor pavilion are increasing and I appreciate the care and caution exhibited by everyone to make these events as safe and enjoyable as possible.

The July 3rd concert and parade was the first event that I planned in totality and it went off without a hitch! The Chris Hampton Trio concert was also a beautiful evening so I’m looking forward to creating more safe and social gatherings going forward. D
o you ever catch yourself in a daze about a “What if?” or a “Hmmm, could I…?” scenario? Most of us, even if we enjoy our work and our day-to-day routine, have spent some precious hours daydreaming next-steps or what it might be like to follow another path of interest. And some of us actually pounce before we change our minds. For Mary Marks, the idea to attend culinary school was planted during her childhood in Kentucky while watching the joy her parents experienced in the kitchen, preparing and creating delicious food. By the time she was in high school she had quite a recipe collection and a favorite hobby – testing those recipes on her family and friends. Fast forward a few decades, after a successful career as a Vice President for Bank of America in Corporate Advertising and Marketing, and after her youngest child finished college, Mary applied and was accepted to the French Culinary Institute in New York. A mostly fantastic experience, save for a hearty serving of temperamental chefs, Mary soaked up the amazing experience and education. Shortly after graduating, she landed a job with Al Roker Entertainment as a Food Stylist and Chef for “Kimberly’s Simply Southern,” hosted by one of the founding members of the platinumselling country band Little Big Town. For three years, Mary worked on this celebrated series in Nashville, Tennessee, before becoming a full-time freelance chef.
And while she was busy juggling her catering career, she managed to work steadily - as a sous chef for the mega-successful TV series “Top Chef” while it was filming in Charlotte, North Carolina, and for the iconic James Beard Foundation Awards Gala in New York, and also for the University of North Carolina in Greensboro as a chef instructor. Mary published her own Cookbook, “Grace & Grits,” created for and inspired by her church, Holy Trinity. And finally, just two years ago, Mary boldly moved again from her home in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Peachtree City, Georiga, to be near her brother and sister-in-law. She fell in love with Cresswind, the sense of community and the ongoing activities and events. And it didn’t take long for Mary to find work right in her new backyard, such as catering Cresswind’s seasonal Vendor Fairs and their annual Holiday Party. And oh, to be Mary’s neighbors, they are a lucky bunch, as she regularly shares her freezer-full of decadent snacks. “I love the creativity of pulling together a menu for my clients. Flexibility is important. Making changes, not a problem. Food is love and community.” To that we say, Amen, and Bon Appetit! a

In 2017, Scott Hunter, MBA, and President of Hunter Wealth Management moved his business from Albany, GA to Peachtree City to get back closer to home and family. His Dad, J.
