A LETTER FROM THE

GENERAL MANAGER

Dear Members,

Spring is in the air, and we are preparing for all of the wonderful benefits the beautiful weather provides.

We saw another extremely busy start to this year, with sold out Club events, a bustling golf course, and members taking advantage of our four additional pickleball courts. It is always wonderful to see members of all ages enjoying their club, especially in the winter months.

This spring I look forward to welcoming you all back to our Pool Complex. We have been hard at work throughout the off season improving the facility to make this upcoming pool season even better than the last. The pools will first open again only for Swim Team practices followed by part time hours in May for the whole membership. I am excited for our members to enjoy the new addition of a beautiful bar in the Adult Cabana where they can enjoy a beverage tucked away in the private space provided by updated landscaping. Join us for the Grand Opening of the Adult Pool Bar on May 3!

Throughout the pages of this Spring Issue, you will find details on social events taking place over the next three months including favorites such as the Oyster Roast and exciting new offerings like the Komos Tequila dinner! April, May, and June are filled with incredible events for our members from wine dinners to family pool parties.

I hope you enjoy the variety of information provided in this issue, from a look back at our Taylor Swift Father-Daughter dance to baking a delicious spring dessert. As always please reach out to me or a member of my team if you have any feedback, suggestions, or information you would like to share in the next issue.

The team at CCC looks forward to seeing you at the Club for a lovely spring season!

Respectfully,

MEMBERSHIP COMMUNICATION SURVEY

In December we asked our entire membership to participate in a communication survey to help us better understand your individual communications preferences and what we can improve upon. We had an overwhelming number of respondents and want to extend our sincere gratitude to all who took the time to participate. Your responses provide helpful insight into the success of our communications plan as well as areas we can approve upon. Based on the responses received, below are a few immediate action items we are currently implementing.

Many respondents emphasized the preference to receive communications earlier in the day. - Our team has already begun to implement this. You should begin to notice newletters hitting your inbox earlier!

A plan has been put in place across all departments to ensure our website is consistently updated and accurate.

Adjustments have already been made to our a la carte reservation system to expand members ability to book online. Our mobile system now allows parties of up to six to be booked, and a total of 40 individuals every 30 minutes. The number of covers (dining experiences) we reserve in a timeframe was established in collaboration with a kitchen consultant. If you have a party larger than six, or we have reached our capacity in a specific time, you will be directed to call the front desk. As a reminder, the downstairs a la carte kitchen services the Grill Room, Patio, Oak Bar, and Men’s Locker Room. We take into account all of these outlets when managing our reservations

We are also looking into utilizing a Texting software as an additional means of communication. -This additional communication method could be used to provide golf course updates, event reservation reminders, important news and so much more!

Please see below for a few more ways you can ensure your communications preferences are up to date!

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

It is important to the team at Charlotte Country Club that you are receiving communications best fit for you.......

Prefer to receive the 1910 digitally only? Let us know if you would like to opt out of receiving a physical, mailed copy of our quarterly publication.

Has your email changed? We want to ensure your contact information is up to date across all our systems. Please reach out if you have a change of email address to ensure your information is updated across all platforms.

Want to be added or removed from a Club email list? Reach out if you would like to change your email communication preferences. Please email Emma Reeves at ereeves@charlottecountryclub.org with the communications you would like to receive.

POOL ETIQUETTE

We hope the summer at the Pool will be an incredible experience for all of our members and their guests. We wanted to remind our members of a few important points of etiquette to ensure an enjoyable atmosphere for all!

- Members should be aware of the rules; and adhere to them to the best of their ability.

- An especially important note is the consideration of a modest swimsuit.

Choosing a modest swimsuit helps contribute to a family-friendly environment. Members are asked to opt for swimsuit styles that align with club standards.

- We also ask that members are aware of their towel usage throughout the 2024 season.

Unfortunately, we lost over 50% of our towel inventory last summer; starting the season with 1000 towels and ending with less than 400. Please, return your towels at the end of the day to ensure a fully supplied Welcome Cabana for all season.

Please communicate these etiquette guidelines to your guests and dependents.

For men, we have some new Under Armour crew t-shirts to keep the moisture away from your skin on those hot, humid days. Of course, Under Armour Polos as well as the IBKUL polos as well.

We also have some beautiful new bags for the Spring. Courtlife and Oliver Thomas provide a great variety of bags for both tennis and pickleball. Come check us out.

TIPS FROM THE PRO

WATCH, TRACK, HIT, REPEAT!

From a young age in every sport we play, we are taught that one of the most fundamental and important skills is to ‘watch the ball.’

As we progress in our sporting endeavors, this

major fundamental skill is often lost. In tennis, and pickleball, we begin to focus on harder skills such as spin, power, and intensity. However, none of these will reach full potential without focusing on the basics.

When the ball is on our opponent’s side of the net, it is imperative that the focus is on our opponent striking the ball. Their balance and what their racquet is doing will impact how they hit the ball. Once the ball has left their racquet, we must watch the spin and bounce of the ball to be able to position ourselves properly. The final stage is watching that ball all the way into contact with our strings/paddle, and then repeat the process again!

By simply watching our opponent and tracking the ball every time, you will see great improvements in all elements of your game!

INTRODUCING COURT RESERVE

We are pleased to announce that we are making progress towards bringing in Court Reserve as our new court reservation system. Court Reserve is an industry leader in tennis operation management, and offers exciting features allowing members to:

- Reserve all tennis and pickleball courts

- View pro schedules

- View (and eventually sign up for) programs and events

Court Reserve is a user-friendly system we are confident will offer a needed improvement to our Tennis Program! We are working hard on the technical side to integrate this new software. In the meantime, we would like to extend an invitation to any member interested, to join and begin exploring Court Reserve now! Please reach out to Director of Tennis Sears Driscoll at sdriscoll@charlottecountryclub.org if you would like to be added.

Keep an eye out for more concrete details to come on this exciting improvement.

WELLS FARGO ADVANCE TEE TIMES

We recognize the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship will have a dramatic and favorable impact on our city, the game of golf and our Club. We expect an increased demand for the use of our golf course and banquet facilities during the championship.

In an effort to best serve our members, we are affording our members the opportunity to make advance tee times to allow those who are entertaining clients during the week sufficient time to properly plan and coordinate activities,

If you are interested in securing an advance tee time, please visit the Golf Shop to fill out an Advance Tee Time form, which must be completed by April 23.
