RULES & PLAYER INFORMATION
FORMAT
The field is divided into 14 flights of six teams. Teams will compete in a round-robin format consisting of 5 nine-hole matches, with one on Thursday, two on Friday, and two on Saturday.
The format will be better-ball of the two man team, match play with handicap. 18-hole handicaps will be halved for the 9-hole matches. The lowest handicap player in each match will play at “scratch” and all remaining players will play at the full difference in handicap.
The winners of each flight will automatically qualify for the ShootOut to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The top point scoring team in Matches IV & V that does not win their flight will also qualify for the Shoot-Out. The tie breaker for this spot will be most points scored in Match V. We will use a chip-off if still tied.
Please note, the tournament will be a double tee start off #1 and #10 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It is imperative that each team shows up on time for their tee time. If one out of the two team members is late to the tee, the team member on the tee box may play their one ball against the other team. If both team members are late to their tee time, that team will be down one point and will start playing on the following hole.
MATCH POINTS
Each nine-hole match is worth a total of 9 points. Each individual hole is worth 1 point. Half points will be awarded to each competing team for any hole that is halved.
Example Match
Team 1 wins 6 Holes
Team 2 wins 3 Holes
Team 1 will receive 6 points while Team 2 receives 3 points for the match
FLIGHTING & HANDICAPPING
Players will receive 100% of their handicap for the event. Strokes will be given where they fall on the scorecard; there will be no half strokes. Lowest handicap players in each match will play at scratch and all remaining players will play at the full difference in handicap. To maintain the integrity of this wonderful event, all guests are required to have a USGA Handicap. Please note these handicap guidelines:
1. The Tournament Handicap Maximum will be set at 24. If you or your guest has a higher handicap, please be aware that the Professional Staff will use 24 for all calculations.
2. The maximum difference between two player’s handicap is 10. For example, if player A’s handicap is 24 and player B’s handicap is 12, instead of a 12 stroke difference, it will be calculated as a 10 stroke difference where player A will play to 22.
The Professional Staff will be honored to assist you with any questions regarding guest handicap information.
TIE BREAKERS
Tie breakers for Flight Winners will be determined by:
1. The winner of the head-to-head match.
2. The result of the match between the third place team.
3. The result of the match between the fourth place team.
4. The total points accumulated for Saturday matches.
5. The total points accumulated for Friday matches.
6. Blind chip off where both players chip and closest advances.
SCORECARDS
All scorecards will be given out on your starting hole for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday matches. Each team will receive a 9-hole scorecard with the appropriate strokes indicated.
RULES & PLAYER INFORMATION
SHOOT-OUT
The 2024 Member-Guest Champions will be the winners of the Member-Guest Shoot-Out. The teams competing in the Shoot-Out will be the 14 flight winners and the top point scorer on Saturday. The Shoot-Out will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
PRIZES
Awarded to Winners of each flight and the Overall Tournament Champions.
USGA rules will govern all play. Please see your tournament rules card for all local rules.
RANGE FINDERS
Range finders are approved for tournament play. Note: only range finders that measure yardage are allowed; no wind speed or elevation/altitude measuring devices.
PROCEDURE TO DETERMINE WINNERS IN A WEATHER SHORTENED EVENT
The Flight Winner will be the team with the most points accumulated at the time play was suspended. The Overall Tournament Champion will be the Flight Winner with the most total points.
If there is a tie for the overall tournament champion, the tie will be broken with a chip off somewhere on the property.
UNOPPOSED MATCHES
Those teams playing against byes, no shows, or dropouts will play a match vs. par. Teams playing against par may win a maximum of six points.
SHORTHANDED MATCHES
Any “shorthanded match” will result in an automatic score of 6-3 regardless of the actual match result. The team causing a match to be a “shorthanded match” will not be eligible to win its flight. A “shorthanded match” will occur if both players from a team fail to complete (or pick up after reaching the max. stroke limit allowed by USGA rules to post a score) at least seven of the same holes in a match.
SPOUSES, DATES & CHILDREN
While the participants are golfing Friday, spouses and guests are encouraged to head to the Pickleball courts for our Ladies’ Pickleball Round Robin at 10:30 a.m. Please contact the Tennis Shop to participate. Then join us for a delicious Luncheon in the Oak Bar. If you and your guest would like to attend, please contact the Front Desk at 704-334-0836 or reception@charlottecountryclub.org.
After your morning on the courts, find hair and makeup artists in the Ladies’ Locker Room ready to work some magic. Be pampered as you sip complementary wine and champagne before the after party! This will be first come, first served.
Saturday, join us at the Pool for a relaxing day in the sun. You will find a masseuse from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and specialty items from the pool snack bar!

There will be fun activities and lunch to keep the children entertained while the adults enjoy time with their guests. Please register via the CCC Website.
