welcome Season’s Greetings to all!
My how time flies! Can you believe we are already at the end of 2019? I know I can’t. As many of us gear up to enjoy the festive season and get ready to say goodbye 2019 and hello 2020, now is a good time to keep in mind a few things. First, give God thanks for the privilege of being able to experience one more year and to be in a position to be looking forward to a new one. The gifts and bonuses are all nice, but do remember the real reason for celebrating these holidays. Be safe, on the roads and in going about your day-to-day activities in general. We all need to maintain a heightened sense of vigilance during this the “silly season” so we all may continue to enjoy life. The glass is ALWAYS half full! We all face challenges from time to time, at work and at home but I believe these challenges provide us with valuable life lessons that ultimately help us to become better. So, with 2020 on the horizon it means we have the opportunity to get better at what didn’t go so well for us in 2019. I feel truly blessed being a part of the CBG family. The group continues to grow from strength to strength due to the talents and contribution of each of you. The end of 2019 marks the conclusion of phase 1 (FOCUS), the first three years journey in arriving at our 2025 Landing Zone. This means The Nest is closer to becoming a reality and we are now getting ready to implement phase two, which spans 2020 to 2022. There is a well-known quote from Benjamin Franklin “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” It is therefore reassuring to know that I am a part of a Jamaican team that does not plan to fail as we know where we want to be, what it is we plan to achieve and have well thought out plans to get us there. It is my sincere wish that 2020 will see you and your family in receipt of Gods richest blessings in terms of health, wealth and happiness.

On Saturday November 30 to Sunday December 1, National held its annual trade expo, Jamaica Made Christmas (JMC) in Kingston.
CB Food Village at Jamaican Made Christmas Expo
The two day event is a platform that that gives invaluable exposure to small, local manufacturers and artisans. It provides them the opportunity to reach larger audiences than their resources may otherwise allow, which helps to promote the purchase of Jamaican goods. Typically held at The Jamaica Pegasus, JMC moved to the the AC Marriot Hotel for the 2019 staging to fulfil its promise to expand the platform as the new venue could accommodate more vendors. With this move, CB Group participated through our CB Foods Village. Shoppers enjoyed sweet Caribbean Passion ham and cheese quesadillas and a jerk chicken with salsa and feta nacho bowl. Of course, Bad Dawg Sausages was a hit, along with our Happy Foods pepperpot soup. Thank you to our volunteers who spent the weekend serving customers, ultimately helping to promote our small Jamaican entrepreneurs. Remember to Buy Local. Support Your Own. Think Jamaican-Made.

Brings Family Fun to Servite In the spirit of Living Better and uplifting a loyal customer we hosted our ‘PAN Appreciation’ on Saturday at Servite Primary. The goal was to provide education and entertainment for the children, parents and teachers in Brown’s Town, St. Ann. DJ Nico Bam Bam & Duffy had everyone dancing and having fun. The aroma of freshly herbed pan chicken had everyone lined up. JN Bank spoke on the importance of financial literacy and WISYNCO Eco on Recycling. A major part of the day’s activities was talking to children about chicken farming as a viable career-choice and encouraging them to eating local. Everyone left with tokens from whether it was caps, school bags, pencil cases, books, lunch kits and even water bottles; while others took home Smart Eggs’ giveaways.
“I want to thank CB Foods, Main Event and all your PAN Partners for what you have done here for us today. Words cannot express our gratitude. You don’t know what you’ve done for us. Thank you! Thank you!”
Vice principal at Servite Primary School, Mrs. Pauline Lewis Redwray, closed the day with a heartfelt speech to the members of the PAN 2019 team.

December started with a bang for dog lovers of all kinds. Our new Pet Food line TRUE was invited to be a part of the 5th annual Bullymania Dog Show at the Caymanas Park in Portmore. The show was geared towards the bulldog breeds – Pitbulls, English, American and French bulldogs, though so many other breeds came out to play including German Shepherds, Bull Mastifs, Poodles, Siberian Husky, and even a little Dashund dressed to the nines for the doggy fashion show. This was a great way for our dog food to show its True colours. The attendees were made up of breeders, groomers, dog experts and all around pet lovers who were very savvy about their dog’s nutrition. TRUE made an impression that had everyone talking about the high protein dog food in the purple bag. Follow ups after the show confirm that bags of TRUE purchased on the day were well received by dogs from Portmore to Portland resulting in more orders. What a great way to start the season. Go TRUE!

Nutramix Challenge Quiz and Drink Real Milk poster competition. Our future Picassos greeted the judges with their creative depictions of “The Benefits of the Real Milk”. Over 30 students presented to the panel of judges from the Jamaica 4H Club and Island Dairies in hopes of winning 1st place $15,000 2nd place $10,000 and 3rd Place $5000. The students of the Herbert Morrison Technical defended their position and placed 1st and 2nd with 3rd place going to Montego Bay High While some tried to win baby chicks, other students were gearing up for the annual Minard Goat and Calf Scramble in the ring. This is undoubtedly the highlight of Minard, students as young as 8 years old chased goats around the ring in an attempt to catch and take the animal home. The fun continued by the mechanical bull and in the Nutramix EduZone as students learned how to inseminate pigs. As the curtains closed on Minard 2019, the team left the Estate with gratitude because it was a sunny day and a great staging of Minard Livestock Show & Beef Festival.

Farmers’ Training Seminar
No doubt Poultry Farming has become one of the most important aspects of Agriculture. Poultry meat has also become a growing demand on the International market. The Field Department continues to embark on improvement in poultry production and as such, we recently held a Farmers’ Training Seminar to further equip our Poultry Farmers in producing quality birds for consumers. The focus of this training was on QMS Compliance, improving security measures and financial management. Mr. Hubert Blair, Live Production Manager- Poultr y, also had the opportunity to share with our farmers some of the proposed Voyage X Plans for the CB Group. We had representatives from First Global Bank, and our own Roland Whitter, Security & Compliance Manager, and Dr. Sydonnie Gyles, Veterinarian, who presented to our farmers. The critical role of the CB Field Office is to continue providing safe, good quality products to our consumers.

Protecting our Borders against Swine Flu
To help protect ourselves and our borders against swine flu, the leaders of NPG have decided to suspend all international visitors to our farms. This includes our associated vets, nutritionist, service personnel and the like. Strict biosecurity measures have been put in place. In addition to this restriction, we also had team members vaccinated to protect against tetanus. The tetanus vaccine is usually first given to infants with 2 other vaccines for diphtheria and whooping cough (pertussis) in a series of 3 injections. Vaccination is the best way to protect against this life-threatening disease. Vaccines work by causing the body to produce its own protection (antibodies). This vaccine is usually used as a “booster vaccine after the first series. When receiving a vaccine, be sure to closely follow the vaccination schedule provided by the health care professional. Booster injections may be needed at the time of injury in older children and adults if it has been 5-10 years since the last tetanus vaccine was received. Booster injections should also be given every 10 years even if no injury has occurred. This injection or an injection with tetanus/diphtheria or tetanus/ diphtheria/pertussis may be used for the booster. 10

The Hatchery Delivery Team Delivering baby chicks to Linstead and as far as York Town in Clarendon can be a very challenging task at times. But, our team is very dedicated and experienced in delivering baby chicks throughout the CB Grow-Out Operations (Broiler and Pullet Chicks) from Caribbean Hatchery in Old Harbor and in recent times from Peninsula Hatchery in Linstead. Some of the team members have been delivering baby chicks as far back as 28 years ago and weathered many storms and saw several changes throughout the CB GrowOut operations. They used to deliver baby chicks in naturally ventilated trucks to now climate control trucks. Also moving from naturally ventilated buildings to ventilated tunnels to solid side wall buildings. The team currently consists of two drivers and five delivery men and when they are not delivering baby chicks they can be seen in the hatchery carrying out cleaning and sanitation duties. 12
LET’S MEET THEM
Chester Reader – Driver Mr. Reader has been delivering baby chicks for 28 years and still continues his journey with the company as a driver.

Field Office …
You’re ENGAGED!!!
CB eZine
The Field Office as a ‘location’ in this survey consists of the following: āā Admin Building āā Peninsula Farm āā Peninsula Hatchery āā Catchers āā Poultry TFOs When we asked some of the leadership members of the Field Office Squad how they keep their teams engaged, this is what they had to say:
“Will you marry me?” Those are the words most girls dream of hearing their entire life. Imagine the excitement, the elation, the pride upon entering this new faithful relationship for the long haul. It wasn’t an easy journey getting here, but you made it! You’re engaged!! Likewise, when we consider EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT we are measuring the levels of attachment, loyalty and happiness an employee feels towards their company. In P & C we like to make this comparison: In a lot of ways, when you say YES to joining a company, you say YES to spending majority of your waking (and sometimes sleeping) life with that organization. Think about it, up to 6 days a week, week after week! This situation can be difficult to endure if the company does not treat you well, or if the culture is toxic. And, like any marriage, it requires a lot of work on both parts to stay committed and to keep the relationship sweet.
When measuring EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT we look at 7 main categories. 1. Job Impact & Satisfaction 2. Team Connection 3. Growth Support & Opportunities 4. Communication 5. Rewards, Feedback & Compensation 6. Tools, Training & Resources 7. Work Culture & Environment The CB Group overall employee engagement score for 2019 was 60% We definitely have areas to work on, and we’re so grateful you each participated to let us know how this relationship is going. At the same time we want to pause to recognize one of our locations who beat the average score for almost all categories, coming out with an individual location score of 71%! The FIELD OFFICE!
14
Why Field Office is #1 Engaged Location OO We act as a Family: we mourn together, celebrate together, and ensure each member is highly valued OO We ensure both Management & Team is available: communication is key. We answer phones 24 hours. There is an open policy and you can speak freely. OO We include every member in decision making: Example nonsupervisors/managers assist with scheduling OO We keep regular meetings and keep them objective: nameless, rankless, open to ideas To celebrate the Field Office in their accomplishment of being the MOST ENGAGED LOCATION, we paid a quick surprise visit with treats. Ring pops to celebrate their engagement! Get it? And a few caps for the often harsh conditions they work in. Big up Field Office! Who will be the Most Engaged next year?

360° Top Performers
In celebration of the fact that 360° Performance reviews are becoming more integrated in our culture, we want to pause to recognize two STELLAR PERFORMERS from the last 360 review conducted in July 2019: 1. Roxanne Edwards-Isaacs, Marketing Assistant, Group Office: 11yrs with the CB Group 2. Sharon Anderson, Hospitality Manager, Lucea: 21yrs with the CB Group You’re on top! You’re the best! Cause you did better than all the rest! Both Roxanne and Sharon tied for the HIGHEST OVERALL SCORE in their 360° results. They both won for themselves an early bonus of $10,000 in Supermarket Vouchers. Congratulations guys! Keep it up! What about you? Are you ready for the next round of Performance 360°?? Studies show that the more frequently you monitor your performance with your Manager, is the more likely you are to succeed. By not having timely performance checkins you run the risk of working aimlessly for extended periods, which leads to burn out, lack of productivity and an overall waste of your time. This inefficiency can seriously derail any organization, but especially one like the CB Group that has very specific targets hitting over the next 6 years #LandingZone2025 Performance 360° hits your desks again in January 2020. So take a look back at your July 2019 action plans, and get ready for your 360° performance review in January 2020. 15

Running for Dreams at the 8th Annual
The 8th annual CB Group/UWI 5K Walk Run was held on November 10 at the Mona Campus. The morning kicked off with media personality and Law graduate from the University Khadean “Miss Kitty” Hylton on stage, while walkers, runners and wheelchair participants ensured that their bibs were intact. And then they were off! The route this year remained within the University campus and in no time at all, sprinters seemingly flew across the finish line. Miss Kitty and sponsors presented prizes to the top winners in various categories while other sponsors including National Baking, Island Grill and Jamaica Producers handed out breakfast and goodies to patrons. Meanwhile, our kids warmed up for their very our Smart Eggs Kids’ K, where confetti filled the air as children, some along with their parents, ran their hearts out to the finish line. The young smart racers were awarded medals, delicious Smart Egg, cheese and Omega Healthy Start sandwiches and their very own Smart Eggs to try their hand at in the kitchen (with parents’ guidance of course). The “King of the Dancehall” surprised the crowd by making a guest appearance and performing some of his most popular hits. 16

Like all of us, you may have a goal in your life you’re struggling with.
10X
You want to get in better shape, make more money, expand your customer base, grow in your career. What do you do? You set a goal.
2020
What if the problem isn’t your inability to follow through with reasonable goals? What if your goals are too reasonable and small?
Results in
Your goal is always reasonable - work out three times a week, find a new investment, find one new customer, outline your business plan for the next 90 days. You’ve been told, “the journey of a thousand miles starts with one step,” and you try to make progress little by little, but somewhere along the line, you fall short. What gives? You know if you just “put your mind to it” you’d accomplish your goals, but you can’t bring yourself to execute and commit long enough.
Enter the 10x rule.
The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone According to Grant Cardone, entrepreneur and author wrote the book The 10x Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure Almost every problem people face in their careers and other aspects of their lives, such as failed diets, marriages, and financial problems, are all the result of not taking enough action. 18

Four biggest mistakes people make with their goals as: 1. Setting goals too low 2. Underestimating what it takes to accomplish 3. Competing instead of dominating 4. Underestimating how much adversity they need to overcome Every goal is going to be hard to achieve. So why not set huge goals and get huge results? There are four degrees of action that we humans take: 1. Do nothing 2. Retreat 3. Take normal levels of action 4. Take massive action Taking massive action is the only logical solution if you want to be successful. The 10X Rule: 1. Set targets for yourself that are 10X greater than what you believe you can achieve. 10X goals will stretch your thinking and actions. The common wisdom is aiming high leads to disappointment, but this thinking is rooted in fear. Setting 10X goals and multiplying your effort 10X requires a transformation, which is what we all really want in the first place. The higher the potential payoff, the less likely you are to quit when things get tough. 2. Take actions that are 10X greater than what you believe are necessary to achieve your goals. You can’t just create 10X goals and make them magically happen. You have to give a 10X effort in as well. What’s the first thing we do when stumbling toward a goal? We lower it. Instead, why not ramp up your effort? Don’t reduce your target, increase action. Why not adopt a 10X mindset for 2020?
Happy goal-setting! 19

Plant A Tree Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people across the globe, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Why TREES are so important:
AIR Trees are like the vacuums of our planet. They absorb harmful pollutants, sweep up particles like dust and smoke and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. CLIMATE Trees help cool the planet by sucking in and storing harmful greenhouse gases into their trunks and leaves. In cities, trees can reduce overall temperature by up to 8°C. 20
CB eZine
WATER Trees capture rainwater and reduce the risk of natural disasters like floods. Their intricate root systems act like filters - slowing down the water’s absorption into the ground. This prevents harmful waterside erosion and reduces the risk of over-saturation. According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Association, a mature evergreen tree can intercept more than 15,000 litres of water every year.
G o G r ee n
BIODIVERSITY A single tree can be home to hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants. Young, Open Forests: These occur as a result of fires or logging. Shrubs, grasses, and young trees attract animals like black bears and bluebirds in North America. Middle-Aged Forests: Here, taller trees begin to outgrow weaker trees, creating an open canopy for the growth of ground vegetation prefered by animals like salamander, elk, and tree frogs. Older Forests: With large trees, a complex canopy, and a highly developed understory of vegetation, these provide habitat for an array of animals, including bats, squirrels, and a variety of birds. 21

HEALTH Research indicates that hospital patients with rooms overlooking trees recover faster than those without the same view. Trees help reduce stress, anxiety, and allow us to reconnect with nature. They also provide shade that helps protect our skin from the ever-increasing harshness of the sun. SOCIAL IMPACT From loggers to researchers, the job opportunities provided by the forestry industry are endless. Sustainable tree farming provides timber to build homes and shelter, and wood to burn for cooking and heating. Foodproducing trees provide fruit, nuts, berries, and leaves for consumption, and guarantee health and nutrition.
