leadership retreat for managers
Welcome The call to Live Better extends way beyond an entreaty to purchase our CBG products over those of our competitors, although this would be the rational thing to do. It even goes beyond better eating and a better understanding of nutrition.
It is an appeal to embrace a better way of existence. It incorporates the behavioral sciences - how we treat each other and how we interact with our environment. It implores us to become proactive in sustaining businesses and holdings by embracing programmes that enhance their yields and productivity whilst guarding against degradation. Ultimately the successes embraced should lead to fulfillment of dreams and a plethora of happiness for all involved. Our concept of corporate responsibility requires that we dedicate resources to break old habits and introduce new ways of doing things. We have to prepare the ground so that our new ideas, like seeds, will take root and grow strong with time. For example if we don’t expose the population to eggs, how will they learn to eat them and make it a habitual part of their diet? Everything becomes easy when we know how. So we start by having workshops for farmers in the villages so that they
can break with non-productive traditions and embrace changes in the ways that they previously operated. We introduce them to the better plants and animals as ‘what gone bad a’ morning can’t come good a’ evening’. We show how to nurture and care for them 'til they finish better than they have ever experienced. By so doing we convert them to friends for life as they graduate from the production of variable sample quantities to viable commercial production levels. Then we need to teach them to minimize wastage and how to prepare nutritious, appetizing meals. Enter our barbecue competitions in which they try to outdo each other and insert their own variations in presentations to make them unique. The parallel rise in self-esteem and actualization that results unites communities and villages and opens up new businesses whilst creating multiplier effects over widening areas of production, marketing, processing and distribution. But where do the children play? Through all the transitions that we are imposing in the population we must not forget that we are social beings .We need to give vent to our emotions so as to keep our cool. We have traditionally done this through song and dance and merriment.
In sport we can parade our special thing, such as bowling out our boss for a duck in cricket, scoring the all-important goal in a football match against the competition or giving our friend six love in a domino game. CBG has done great by having very efficient teams at work across the spectrum to sustain the various elements of the network. We have created a critical mass of persons that will be difficult to emulate and hard to duplicate. They are committed to increased productivity whilst loving their jobs. The enjoyment is clearly infectious and is spreading far and wide across the country to enable our relatives, customers and friends to live, love, work and play the CB Way. In so doing they will have of course come to Live Better.
Dr. Donald Keith Amiel CD welcome

The inaugural Jamaica International Exhibition tradeshow was held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre on June 1-3. Staged by the Jamaica Manufacturers' Association, the exhibition was aimed at connecting local, regional, and international buyers, suppliers, distributors, and investors to forge new relationships or strengthen existing ones. There was an overall harmonious reaction to our Live Better booth as one of the more picturesque and aptly interactive of the exhibitors.

Official member of Gastronomy Centre Devon House was launched as Jamaica’s first Gastronomy Centre by the Ministry of Tourism on May 30. The popular location was selected based on its unique offerings, its history, and representation of Jamaica’s heritage, coupled with it being in the centre of commerce, entertainment and culture. With Jamaica’s baddest sausage having its flagship store at Devon House, we’re excited for potential opportunities. The Minister spoke of special projects
such as the building of a special kitchen to be marketed to visitors worldwide where they will be able to cook using fresh Jamaican ingredients. There are also plans to establish food stations, which will allow tourists and locals alike a unique opportunity to sample a variety of authentic Jamaican cuisine. With the increased investment in infrastructure and marketing efforts for Devon House, Bad Dawg Sausages is enthusiastic to be part of the movement to strengthen Jamaica’s competitiveness in gastronomy tourism. Check out photos from the launch.

Dairy calves born from Artificial Insemination How exciting! In June, Clarendon farmer Charles Learmond welcomed 9 calves, born as a result of Nutramix’s Artificial Insemination program. Not a stranger to the process, Charles had used the AI program during the 1980’s and 1990’s up until it was closed by the Government. It was a

With Nutramix’s Dr Young inseminating 20 of his cows, 9 calves have been born to date, one per mother. Charles shares, “I can’t complain because the calves are
Charles is very interested in Nutramix’s sexed semen and states, “though it might be costly, a lot of us farmers are interested in it.”

World Milk Day @ St. Richard's Primary June 1 marked the 17th annual World Milk Day! Members from Nutramix headed to St Richard’s Primary to enjoy this special day with the students, educating them on the importance of drinking real milk and of course enjoying lots of milk courtesy of our Drink Real Milk campaign partner, Seprod. So, why a #WorldMilkDay? • To say ‘good job’ to the parents who make sure there’s always a carton in the fridge • To say ‘thank you’ to the hard working dairy farmers and to the organisations that provide dairy supplements to help tackle famine and malnutrition • To provide an opportunity to bring attention to activities connected with the dairy sector Since the launch of DRM in March 2016: • New local product lactose free milk (yep, using real milk) • Local heavy whipping cream being made with again, real milk! • Many farmers are now averaging 12 litres versus previous average of 6 litres of milk a day

Little did G.O. know that when we stepped into work on May 26, speaker boxes and sound system would all be intact with our very own DJ Gairy Bowes dropping tunes. By 5pm, it was every team for themselves. With specific categories like, “The voicemail you leave when your boss is calling you when you’re on vacation”, all departments chose their top songs for all categories. Thanks to the special judges and hype woman Sasha, but it was the Accounts Department that won the clash! Good vibes to end the work week!

Prepare for this Hurricane Season The Atlantic could see an above-normal hurricane season this year - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center. You can never be too cautious. “Disasters Do Happen… Be Prepared.”
1 4 H u rricane S afety T i p s for H o m e O w ners 1. Check the roof of your house, hurricane shutters, hooks and latches thoroughly and repair where necessary. 2. Make sure that galvanized sheeting on the roof of your house is properly fastened. 3. Keep in stock extra plastic bags and sheets of plastic. Plastic is essential to prevent important documents, paintings, equipment and furniture from getting wet. 4. Keep handy a supply of lumbar, plywood, timber, etc. for battening down purposes. 5. Trim trees that touch power lines or hang over the house and other buildings. 6. Make sure that emergency cooking facilities such as coal stoves are in good working condition as these may be necessary. 7. Make sure you have a supply of kerosene and coal. Keep coal dry by wrapping in a plastic bag or other waterproof material.
9. Store extra food, especially things that can be eaten without cooking or which need very little preparation. Electricity may be off during a hurricane, leaving you without refrigeration. 10. Place emergency food supply in a waterproof container and store in a closed box, cupboard or trunk. 11. Make sure you have emergency equipment in your home. These include waterboots, raincoats, flashlights, batteries, portable radio, kerosene lamps and matches. 12. Have simple first-aid equipment such as iodine, bandages, eye lotion, etc. at home. 13. Know how to find the nearest shelter. The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) or your Parish Disaster Committee (PDC) can give you the location of the shelter nearest you. 14. Plan the safest possible route to the nearest safe shelter if you must leave.
8. Latch down securely all small buildings in the yard such as outdoor kitchens, pit latrines, tool sheds, barns, etc.
