Wel come Hello CBG Family, Over the past few months, your company has taken a number of pretty bold moves. Have you been counting? We launched our new Live Better marketing campaign and hosted our first Farmer’s Expo in February, we introduced our Happy Foods soup line and launched our new website www. mycbgroup.com in March and we revamped our Copperwood Case Ready Program, refreshing our look for our Fresh Pork tray packs and introducing 2 new lines – Prep’d and Smoked in April. Last month, at NPM, we also saw the first set of calves born from the cows inseminated with the high quality bull semen we’ve been making available to dairy farmers in support of the Drink Real Milk Campaign. You should be asking yourself, “What will May, June and July bring?”. Well, before we get ahead of ourselves, let me at least tell you a little about May. On Monday, May 01, we’ll set yet another standard for the egg industry, being the first company to give our customers the ability to identify where
their eggs come from and what kind of egg they are eating simply by looking on the shell. Going forward, all of our Smart Eggs will be stamped with a bright pink Smart Eggs logo, using a completely safe, plant based dye and customers can be confident that only white eggs with the Smart Eggs logo have the Omega 3 that they are looking for. By the middle of the month, we’ll be adding two more Copperwood Pork exclusive stores, under our KYP (Know You Pork) Program and taking Happy Foods Soups island wide. Plus, we’re presenting our soups at the Jamaica Observer Food Awards, where we’ve been nominated in the category of “Best New Product”. At Imagination Farms, our R&D plots will be at new levels of production, making more fresh produce like our sweet corn and cucumbers available for sale to the market. More importantly though, we’ll be making all of this available to you through Staff Sales, so you can ask your location’s People & Culture contact for more info or get in touch with Donia Nembhard personally if you’re interested in large amounts for your family or community. By the latter part of the month, Indulge goes global, launching our subscription service on the world’s largest digital
magazine platform - Zinio. We’re hoping to reconnect the diaspora with home through our award winning, F&B magazine and so we’re offering them 3 digital copies per year for just US$9.99 (Tell your family and friends abroad!) The most exciting news, however, comes at the end of the month, when we go to market with ……..(oops, this publication comes out just a little too early and we can’t let it out the bag just yet, so you’ll have to wait to find out….SORRY!!) On the internal front, the Group continues to work towards the goals set in our LEAP process and we’ve made some equally bold moves that we’re proud of. The upgrade of ROSS, the introduction of our internal messaging platform (Slack), the launch of Bamboo, the restructuring of our CB Foods Sales Team, the restructuring of our CB Foods Processing operations and the complete turnaround of Whitehall Farms (Big, big, big congrats to Wilfred Lopez and Team!) are just a few of the highlights. So proud of what our Group is doing for our country and tremendously excited about our team! I promise, lots more to come for 2017 and beyond. - ML

gets Observer Food Awards nomination In early April, our Happy Foods soups were specially sampled by 20 judges gathered at the Spanish Court Hotel at the Jamaica Observer’s Food Awards sampling. Our Red Peas with Pigs Tail and Homestyle Chicken Pumpkin were a hit all around with positive feedback particularly on the ‘true homemade taste’, the convenience of the product, and the packaging. Observer’s leading lady and conceptualizer of the Jamaica Observer Food Awards, Novia McDonald-Whyte gave her very own stamp of approval. Such a hit that the soups have been nominated in the “Best Product” category at the 2017 Food Awards! Have you grabbed your soup yet? If not, head on over to HiLo branches in Cross Roads, Liguanea, Manor Park or Barbican. We’ll be sure to keep you updated about #FoodAwards2017.

The first and only eggs in the local market to get STAMPED! It’s another great initiative by Smart Eggs paving the way with innovation. Be on the look-out on supermarket shelves for the only omega-3 enriched eggs with their brand-new pink stamps! “Why”, do you ask? Well now there’s no mistaking Smart Eggs’ white eggs with any other white eggs on the market. On the outside all eggs may appear to be the same, but we all know that Smart Eggs are especially different! By the way, doesn’t our 18-pack look great? More options for the market! Remember to follow @SmartEggsJA on Instagram and Facebook to see what else is happening! 4

#SmartKids Smart Egg Drop Competition And the eggs‑citement just keeps on coming! Smart Eggs has recently launched #SmartKids, an educational campaign that seeks to create an exciting platform for children to have fun, participate in educational activities and enjoy easy-to-prepare nutritional meals. As part of this campaign, we’ll be hosting a Smart Egg Drop Competition on May 27th at the Campion College Auditorium.
Students from Grades 4-6 from 20 invited schools have been asked to register 1 team of no more than 4 students to represent their school. The team will design and build an apparatus to prevent an uncooked Smart Egg from breaking as it free falls from varying heights. The ‘drops’ will start from an initial height of 3 feet and will increase for each successive round.
The teams will compete for a chance to win a Smart Whiteboard for their school and more amazing prizes for the top 3 qualifying teams, such as Amazon gift cards. Check out highlights from the Preliminaries at Immaculate Conception Prep in April.

It’s a wrap with Smart Eggs’ Sports Days On April 6 and 7, Emmanuel Christian Academy and Fundaciones welcomed Smart Eggs to their annual Sports Day and what a couple of ‘eggsciting’ days it was! Children ages 1 ½ to 7 carefully balanced their Smart Eggs as they walked, ran, and wobbled in the Smart Egg & Spoon races. We caught up with a few celebrity mamas but Yendi and her daughter Isreal stole the show! On both days our Smart Cart pulled up and parked to serve yummy, nutritious egg sandwiches to kids. Smart Egg packs, t-shirts, books, pencils, and pins were given to kids who placed in the top 3 in their races! Over 300 Smart Eggs were cracked to supply sandwiches for both schools and almost 80 children enjoyed their prizes courtesy of Smart Eggs! 6

With the last Pop Up taking place in early April, it’s officially a wrap on the Live Better Pop Ups! We hope that you enjoyed the visits from folks in People & Culture and Marketing to speak to you face-to-face about CB Foods’ Live Better campaign and it’s product launch – Happy Foods’ soups. We all asked for better communication at LEAP and with Live Better stemming directly from what you wrote on your dream-cards, we thought that this was the best way to introduce the new campaign.
Pops Ups Part II
We hope that the message is clear and strong, and we hope that all CBG family will stand united in supporting Live Better! CBG fam at Arnold Road, Copperwood, Pork Store, St Ann’s Bay Agency and Peninsula, check out your photos! around the brand in 30 days — cb foods

and tid-bits
Caribbean Passion Bacon, Egg & Crispy Potatoe Breakfast Skillet Ingredients: • 2 lbs tiny potatoes, diced • 1-2 cups chicken stock or broth • 4 tsp unsalted butter • 6 Chippenham or Smart Eggs • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese • 8 slices Caribbean Passion bacon, cooked and crumbled • ½ cup sour cream • ½ red bell pepper, diced • 1 jalapeno, mined • ¼ cup escallion, chopped • ¼ cup parsley, chopped
Directions: 1. Place a layer of baby potatoes in a large cast-iron skillet, fitting slightly snugly. Pour chicken stock over potatoes just until halfway up their sides. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium, cover skillet and cook for 5 mins. 2. Remove cover from skillet and cook another 5 mins. Cut butter into smaller pieces and spread over potatoes, allowing to melt. Do not stir. Keep cooking until all liquid has evaporated and potatoes starts to brown. Using a flat-bottomed instrument, gently press down on each potato to gently flatten. Leave them to brown for another 5 mins without stirring. 3. Once bottoms of potatoes have browned, pour beaten eggs over potatoes. Reduce heat to med-low, cover and cook until the egg on the side is starting to look done, about 3 mins. Place skillet under broiler and, watching carefully, cook the copy of eggs until just done. 4. Remove skillet. Top cooked eggs with cheese, then bacon, sour cream and remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.

Tips:
Protect your money when banking online
Protect your PIN -- Memorize your PIN and password. Don’t share it with anyone. -- If you think that someone has obtained your PIN and/or password fraudulently, change it immediately. -- Choose an unusual PIN and password that are hard to guess. -- Change your passwords often. Internet banking -- Make sure you’re on your bank’s secure website. The link should always start with https NOT http. -- Rather type the bank’s website address into your address bar instead of clicking on a link in an email. -- Don’t do your Internet banking from a public computer such as those at an Internet café. -- Sign out from Internet banking as soon as you’re done.
When using an ATM -- Be aware of your surroundings. If you observe or sense suspicious persons or circumstances, don’t use the machine at that time. -- Don't wait to get to the ATM and then take your card out of your wallet or purse. Have it ready in hand as you approach the ATM. -- Visually inspect the ATM for possible skimming devices. Potential indicators can include sticky residue or evidence of an adhesive used by criminals to affix the device, scratches, damaged or crooked pieces, loose or extra attachments on the card slot, or noticeable resistance when pressing the keypad. -- Use your other hand or body to shield the ATM keyboard as you enter your PIN into the ATM. -- To keep your account information confidential, take your receipts or transaction records with you.
--
Don’t visually display money you received from the ATM. Put it in your pocket or purse and count it later.
Secure your PC -- Ensure no one has unauthorised access to your PC, cellphone app or Internet banking token. -- Don’t click on suspicious links or open email communication from unfamiliar email addresses. -- Use licensed software on your computer. -- Make sure you have antivirus software installed and that it’s updated regularly. -- Never share your personal information on your social media profiles or on a company’s Facebook page in response to a query. -- Be cautious when using storage devices such as USB drives that are not your own. Scan them for viruses before you do.
