As we go through life, it will teach us lessons we will never learn in the classroom. The emotions we have to learn to control, the pains we have to deal with and the joys we have to share are but a few. Life is all about the experiences we share and the number of persons we can impact in a positive way. This issue of the ChatBout will inform you of the many and varied activities the group is involved with and will help to shape our opinion on the contributions we continue to make to our employees and the country as a whole. By the time you read this, we would have already completed a number of events leading up to what can now be best described as “CB Week”. This is when we normally have our CB Group UWI 5k fun run, Jamaica Food and Drink Festival and the now famous PAN Finals. Before we get there however, the Regionals for PAN would have been completed, the Nutramix Double Six Championship would have been completed, and our managers’ retreat, which is expected to be a blast this year, would have been behind us too. The final touches for our 3rd staging of the Jamaica Food and Drink Festival and the PAN Finals will be taking place, and we will be looking forward to what promises to be another great series of events.
As we plan and execute these events, we want to make sure that we all play our part in ensuring that the CB Group is showcased in a positive way. However, at the end of the day it’s not about how much profits or sales the company made, it will be about the number of lives we touch by way of scholarships, giving persons a chance to become entrepreneurs and our contributions to Jamaica. As the saying goes, the longest journey starts with the first step. We are planting the seeds for a brighter tomorrow and we can all feel proud to be a part of this great company. God Bless
G Channer

firesup in rainy Portland
Waterboots were the order of the day, evening and night! Though rain was a new staple on the PAN menu in Portland, the home of jerk, our PAN men and women were determined to let their PAN chicken take the spotlight. 35 men and women from Kingston and St Andrew, St Mary, St Ann, Trelawny, St Catherine, St Thomas, and Portland trudged to Folly Oval in Port Antonio, home of last year’s Regional 2 for the 2nd staging of #PAN2017.
Patrons took the stage for dance competitions, sponsor trivia and lots of giveaways while others cheered with their umbrellas. By evening, artistes Jamiel, Jermaine Edwards and Agent Sasco got the crowd hyped, performing their hits. With no surprise it was Sasco, aka Assassin, who brought a renewed energy, reaffirming his place in dancehall as one of the best stage performers.
By the end of the night, our PAN competitors took the spotlight where comedian and emcee Dufton Sheperd announced the winners and runners-up who each received cash and other prizes courtesy of our PAN partners. A big congrats to them all for securing their spot in the Grand Final!

CB family, friends, foodies… it’s that time of year! We are proud to announce our 3rd annual staging of Jamaica Food & Drink Festival. For the first time, an official media launch was held on September 12th at Victoria Pier, smack in the heart of Downtown, right on the waterfront with the sunset as the beautiful backdrop. CBG’s Alicia Bogues, JTB’s Chairman John Lynch and Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams all took centre-stage to share their anticipation of what has become the Caribbean’s #1 food festival and to reaffirm their commitment to making Kingston a truly global culinary destination. Sponors, chefs, partners and media tuned in and indulged in the night’s gastronomy concocted by Gairy Bowes, as well as Ashebre’s Oji Jaja and Kayter’s Alexa Von Strolley. Nutramix Experts Undergo Training in Beef Cattle This summer, Newport Mills’ livestock experts Patrick Craig and Andre Williams headed to Manhattan, Kansas to undergo a 2-day workshop training on applied reproductive strategies in beef cattle. Topics mainly covered artificial insemination, nutrition, genetics and pregnancy synchronisation.
The team also visited beef and dairy farms with the main aim to get as much information as possible on Total Mixed Ration (TMR)—which refers to how dairy animals are fed, as they are not sent to pasture to eat grass as is done here in Jamaica.
There were practical sessions on reproductive tract scoring, ultrasound examinations, synchronisation planning and semen collection, quality and handling. 10

Netherland’s Nuscience visits Jamaican Farmers
Organized by Drink Real Milk (DRM) partner Nutramix, two animal nutritionists from the Nuscience Group in the Netherlands, Sylva Van Doremaele and Teus Van Os recently paid some of our local Nutramix farmers a long promised visit. The Nuscience team extended valuable advice and recommendations in the rearing and care of the animals, as well as about the improvement of their facilities and farming
practices. Overall, the team was very impressed with the animals and conditions at several of the locations they audited. The Nuscience Group is a key partner for feed manufacturers worldwide and a global player in animal feed, nutritional concepts and feed additives in the animal nutrition industry.

Register for CB Group UWI 5K Now! We look forward to celebrating our 6th anniversary of the CB Group UWI 5k and Smart Eggs Kids’ K! Since its launch in 2012, we’ve awarded over 200 scholarships to first time University students who have been able to fulfill their dreams because of you! We appreciate your support and we know you will continue to give to this great cause. Some can only dream of pursing a higher education because of their financial circumstances, the cost of a University education is just out of reach for so many Jamaican families. But with the dedication and contributions from so many like you, we have an ability to make a real impact on the life and future of these students, who despite their challenging circumstances continue to work hard and succeed. Last year’s event was a resounding success and we are working toward making this year’s event even better. Why you should do this? • Making a difference for Jamaica-6 years and counting • Your child/family member can benefit • Do your part in nation building through Youth Development

High School Scholarship Award Ceremony It was a proud afternoon for all the CB Group parents who watched their children walk on stage to collect their muchdeserved awards. The ceremony, held at The Knutsford Court, saw both returning Scholarship Holders from as far back as 2011, and 2017 Awardees. We congratulate all these young men and women who are no doubt our country’s future industry shakers and leaders. Congrats also to parents who play such a vital role in guiding our youth. We salute you. 20
