e are making things happen this year. Some new…some tried and true…but with a twist. Most importantly, it's happening on the ground - both within our industry and our Association. Starts are up and there is a buzz in the air that this could be a great year for our market. At the GBA, it already is. The Southern Ideal Home Show is next month. It should be a great show. Mark your calendars for PREVIEW NIGHT and plan to join us on Thursday, March 21 from 5:00 – 7:30 pm to mix and mingle with exhibitors and other GBA members before the show opens on Friday. It’s FREE for you, your employees and invited guests. And, if you haven't heard already, April 18th we are giving away $10,000 at our first ever Reverse Raffle / Draw Down. Winner Takes All - No “Maybe We'll Split It” Raffle. Many thanks to everyone who is helping make this event happen. Tickets are $100 which includes dinner and one chance to win the $10,000. Odds are 1 in 300. Our goal is to donate $10,000+ to Habitat for Humanity as a springboard for our Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat blitz this fall. We have built 43 houses in the history of our partnership with Habitat Greensboro. This year we plan to eclipse 50 homes built within 10 years! Start thinking now about how you can help us in November.

Lastly, my favorite topic...Membership. This year our goal is to ensure everyone has the MEANS to grow their business:

Builder News Spring Parade of Homes

Start Planning NOW...

April 27-28 & May 4-5

Showcase your business, products and services to area consumers this summer and fall…start planning now to participate. Additional information can be found on the GBA website.

Join us as we kick off the spring housing market with the annual Parade of Homes. The Parade is a win-win for everyone involved… builders, associates and consumers. Builder participation helps not only promote your company, getting in front of prospective buyers...it also helps your suppliers and trade contractors gain name recognition as a valued and trusted industry resource. The greater the participation of our members…the stronger message to consumers we send that NOW is the best time to consider buying and/or building a new home. Information on each Parade home remains on the GBA website and Parade of Homes mobile app for six months, providing continued exposure and marketing benefits for your company. The GBA website averages more than 6,000 visitors per month, increasing to more than 12,000 visits during Parade of Home months. It serves as an added resource for consumers looking to find a builder and/or remodeler. Existing homes, newly constructed homes and homes that are near completion and safe for the consumer to walk through can be entered in the Spring Parade of Homes. Unfinished homes must adhere to the established guidelines with emphasis on the homes being safe for the general public to enter. For homes currently under construction, builders need to submit a color rendering if exterior of home will not be ready for photography the first week in March. Last chance to enter the Spring Parade of Homes is March 1. If you don’t have a home under construction to enter for the Spring Parade…consider exploring other ways to promote your company in the Parade of Homes magazine. With 10,000 copies printed and distributed, this is a great way to promote your business to area consumers. Advertising deadline is March 8. Special Thanks to our 2013 Parade of Home SPONSORS

Tour of Remodeled Homes August 23-25 Entry Deadline: June 14

Fall Parade of Homes October 12-13 & 19-20 Entry Deadline: July 31

Increase Your Knowledge… Marketing, networking and educational opportunities are available for members throughout the year through participation with our councils and committees. Builders, Remodelers and Triad Green Building Council meetings are open to all members and typically consist of educational workshops as well as site visits to member showrooms / warehouses to see the latest in building science, products and services. These events provide builders, remodelers, suppliers, trade contractors and other Associate members the opportunity to learn about new products and services, discuss industry issues, while establishing and strengthening valuable business relationships. We encourage you to attend an upcoming council meeting to participate in both the educational and networking exchange. Raising Roofs‌ Builders for Habitat Celebrates 10 Year Partnership The Greensboro Builders Association and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro are teaming up the week of November 4-8 to construct 7-8 houses in one week at The Village at Northside. It’s our 10th year anniversary since our first build in 2003 in which we constructed 12 homes in one week. To date we have built 43 homes through our partnership. This year’s goal is to meet or exceed building 50 homes in our first 10 years. Raising Roofs‌Builders for Habitat brings builders, remodelers, suppliers and trade contractors together to work side by side to build houses from foundation to dedication in one incredible week.

Limited to 300 Tickets Tickets Can Be Purchased at the GBA Office

Builder teams will be forming this spring. In years past, 3-6 builders have partnered on the construction of a house. We will be constructing the homes to meet Energy Star and the National Green Building Standard. Habitat homes are simple, decent and affordable houses sold to hardworking families at no-profit and with interest-free financing. In addition to a modest down payment, families contribute 300 hours of “sweat equityâ€? toward the purchase of their home. For Raising Roofs homes, families will volunteer on other construction projects to achieve their required hours. There are numerous ways that GBA members can be involved in this year’s build from serving on one of the builder teams; to providing products, labor and services for the construction of these homes; to serving on our Logistics, Hospitality and/or Fund Raising teams. Most Immediate Way to Help: Purchase a $100 Reverse Raffle ticket‌with the chance to win $10,000‌and join us on Thursday, April 18 for a fun night and our official Raising Roofs‌Builders for Habitat kick-off event with all proceeds going to support this year’s build.

Growing Your Business share at least one goal which revolves around strengthening W eandall growing our business. By being a member of the Greensboro Builders Association…you have the opportunity to expand your name recognition, promote your products and services to both industry members and consumers. We continue to strive to build greater consumer awareness of our members through our website, social media, publications and consumer events such as the Southern Ideal Home Show, Parade of Homes and Tour of Remodeled Homes. NEW Website as Industry Resource Currently under development is a new GBA website that will place greater emphasis on our Membership Directory. On a monthly basis, we average more than 6,000 unique visitors with primary emphasis on searches within the directory. During the Parade of Homes and Tour of Remodeled Homes, we double our website traffic. Our goal is for consumers to “bookmark” our website utilizing it as their “go-to” resource for any construction, remodeling or home improvement need. To do that, we are looking to expand your complimentary listing to include photographs and additional information about your company, providing you additional ways to promote your business, products and services. Value of Using GBA Members We utilize the website, along with our Parade and Tour magazines to promote the value and importance of using GBA members, both with editorial articles and ads such as these.

The Political Action Committee of the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NC BUILD-PAC) is a non-partisan committee organized for the specific purpose of raising funds to support pro-housing candidates of all parties at the state and local levels of government. Contributions to NC BUILD-PAC are an investment in the future of your business and the building industry as a whole. It is essential that we are able to support candidates that understand and will fight for issues important to us. Thirty percent of funds raised are used to support local city and county candidates. We encourage all GBA members to make a contribution this year. Donations must be made from your personal account. Corporate checks are not allowed. Pledge forms can be found on the GBA website. The real beauty of Hanson Brick lies not only in what it becomes, but what it means to the lives it supports. At Hanson, we don’t simply make brick. We make it possible for a house to become a home, a school to become grounds for inspiration, and a community to truly come alive. And with the ability to be recycled, re-used and re-purposed, brick is the ultimate sustainable building product. Explore our extensive selection of colors, textures and finishes and you’ll understand that the real reason we make brick is to make visions come to life.
